Belinda, thank you so much.  That drink was perfect.

I've been sorting out what has been going on and I agree with Athena, it would be to our benefit to keep next door alive.  However, I have no idea how we can do that.

Edited to correct a brain fart - thanks Athena!

    Ohhhh Belinda.....wonderful drink!

It is in the 30s here. I am pissed off because I had to stay home from work. My meds didn't function for me and I had a case of hypersomnia.

Sorry you're not feeling well, Athena.

I haven't enjoyed an eggnog in ages, but that picture is tempting!

Gack!!!  I drank eggnog?!  Sorry, but I don't drink eggnog.  I have to go scrub my tongue.  Tongue Out

But it's the thought that matters, so thanks for the lovely drink.  It is pretty.

    Athena,

I agree with you about being able to agree to disagree. We do have some good arguments and are snarky on both sides, but when you get right down to it we can still have meaningful exchanges regarding cancer and related treatment and experiences. I do also get a lot of laughs here watching each others comments back and forth and I don't take anything seriously that is said. I do come here to voice my views and would find it boring if we could only talk about art animals and cancer. I was at one time very attached to the Stage III forum and it got me thru some rough times, but this forum has helped me move on with other things that concern me. As the top of the forum states; "Growing our freindships after treatment." I feel all the ladies on both sides of the political street have friendships in this forum. Paula is a good example of this. I thought it was so funny that Blue referred to herself as "bluefartia", I roared at that when she changed her username to that. I jokingly put up an image that said "NO Spitting" as an answer to her comment I saw when I peeked over the fence. I wanted to post it on both sides but didn't want top ruffle feathers, but ita was all in fun. I don't think anyone on these boards really hates the other side. I think we have very strong opinions that differ in politics and it's nice to be able to read them here. I wish the mods wouldn't butt in all the time and just let it go. I hate that other ladies have left. I will not be pushed out because the mods want bully us or you over what is allowed to be said. These political forums are stated at the top and Idenitfied as what type of forum it is and anyone on these other boards who come here and get offened and report us should just choose to stay on the boards they feel safe in. I searched for this forum and found it and feel very comfortable posting here and would like to be able to share conversations with you and Blue and Shirly and Laura and Paula and Sherri and Suzfive, and Pat and Nancy, lassie and all of you whom I've come to "know", so mods please don't keep deleting us all the time because i really don't want to leave this forum.

    I liked your post Athena,

Love Country Joe and the Fish. Our kids were heavily exposed to them when they were small, too. :)

Tomorrow is my last day of work before vacation. Then I must pack and reclean the house so that all is spiffy just in case anyone wants to see it before our return. (I dreamt it sold while we were gone, but I'm certain that is just wishful dreaming).

No matter. We're going to be warm!

    Belinda, you are torturing me!

Nice to hear from you shanagirl. I remember you very well on the stage III thread, where I sometimes squat. :-)

Thank you GG, and thank you to all those who have enjoyed the art.

Oh, dear, RR -- is everything OK with your DH? It sounds like he is recovering quickly if he is antsy, but it must be hard on you!

OK, so if art discussions irk people, how about poetry? I am particularly fond of e e cummings:

love is more thicker than forget

    more thinner than recall

more seldom than a wave is wet

    more frequent than to fail

it is most mad and moonly

    and less it shall unbe

than all the sea which only

    is deeper than the sea

love is less always than to win

    less never than alive

less bigger than the least begin

    less littler than forgive

it is most sane and sunly

    and more it cannot die

than all the sky which only

    is higher than the sky

    -- or my favorite ---

being to timeless as it's to time

    love did no more begin than love will end;

where nothing is to breathe to stroll to swim

love is the air the ocean and the land

    (do lovers suffer?all divinities

proudly descending put on deathful flesh:

are lovers glad?only their smallest joy's

a universe emerging from a wish)

love is the voice under all silences,

    the hope which has no opposite in fear;

    the strength so strong mere force is feebleness;

the truth more first than sun more last than star

-- do lovers love?why then to heaven with hell.

Whatever sages say and fools, all's well

HL, WR - the buyout has arrived (with a 4 day window for applying) right before Xmas? WTF?  (I know you will understand this.)  So, my coworker who has wanted the buyout to retire is currently in the middle of the Carribbean, on a charted boat, thinking this will happen in January, if at all, and I'm frantically trying to figure out how I'm going to find her so she can respond by this coming Thursday. (Supervisors not in loop...just a direct email from the service center.)  Luckily, by hours, I found another mutual friend who is flying to some island and getting on a dingy to meet her on her boat this Saturday.  I just got my dear friend $25K extra smackeroos (she was going to retire, anyway, this spring). I'm feeling pretty good today. Laughing

As far as Twinkees and dental bills....I thought that fell under the topic of craziness, not politics.  (Just in case.)

You know what's cool...she really came to my aid through chemo, so it was my pleasure to spend this day calling around town.  The whole event (including cancer) has reconnected me with people from my past, so sometimes doing good deeds returns in kind.

HL - OPM screwed up the original list of people...people were offered the buyout that didn't even want to be offerred it, or were already retired.  They got a hit on maybe 100 people, when they wanted more like 1000, nationwide.  I think this 4 day second offering is some sort of secondary attempt to make up for the first FUBAR attempt.  Ofcourse, in my friend's case, it would have been another disaster.  Now I have decide if I want to retire on January 12th, too.

Belinda, now that is perfect!  And I also love "Love Actually."

HL, DH had nose surgery so that he can breathe at night.  So he'll be fine.  He's just very uncomfortable and there's a pretty good list of things he can't do.  Such as bend over, pick up anything even slightly heavy.  So it's a chore keeping him halfway comfortable and trying to make sure he doesn't do things he shouldn't.  I love ee cummings.

    Kam, ya done good.

Oh, that IS a fast decision for you to have to make, Kam (and cool that you could help your friend who helped you!). I am planning to work until June 1 so I can fill up my TSP ... I wonder if you could use your buyout $$ to fill up your TSP? Interesting question to ask!

Oh c'mon mods. You can't expect to talk this through and solve it by yourselves. We, as posters, are part of the solution. When you censure dialogue, the impression I leave with is that you don't want any. And it's necessary. My post was polite and non abusive and trying to rally support for a better relationship.

    Off to night hunt....

From a google search. Blog: Words that Sing.

If banned from speaking, the soul will die,

And each stifled voice starves the world of life

What choice is it – to be silent or lie?

If banned from speaking, the soul will die.

From the smallest domestic unuttered cry

To the greatest source of political strife.

If banned from speaking, the soul will die,

And each stifled voice starves the world of life.

HL - the buyout money comes about 4 weeks after separation, so no, can't stuff one's TSP.  Remember that house I posted pages back?  I remodeled it, then the day they were refinishing my new wood floors, BC hit.  You know how remodels go....so goes the $25K (should I go for it, which is about 80-20 chance I will).
