Thank you, Kam. That sentence is my favorite part of today so far.
-
E, I see some fine writing skills. I see a book in your future!
-
Some good news out of the south this afternoon, I believe there might be a Santa Claus after all...

-
Yey to E's writing skills. Oh, them GUV'MINT rads!
-
You mean DeMint (first name Pepper)?
-
Does this mean the Heritage Foundation is deminted?
-
Y-in!
-
Oh E, you simply must weave your cogent thoughts into an op-Ed piece for some great newspaper. Publish it to the hungry masses please.
Fish tank, hey that's what my rads office had too. MD Anderson has them all over the place, every floor. Hmmmmmmmmm. -
Jackie, I used emu oil during my rads and I really liked it. My poor dry (and later red) skin just soaked it up. After rads, I had the tough, dry skin for almost 2 years. About a year out, I discovered Avon Anew Dermabrasion Cream. It made my skin feel like I hadn't had rads, so I loved it. A little pricy, but I only used it twice a week, so it lasted a while. You can choose the strength if your skin is sensitive.

ust dropping in to say hi.
Love all the discussion on medicare. In this terrible country my GP can access records, see scan results etc as can the hospital and now actually request older info from specialists.
Today my DD1 has a friend arriving from the US from Louisiana. The other day we 'aided' a phone call giving him some information about NZ and what not to bring. Funny how many people think we are some primitive backward place where you cannot purchase any mod cons. Anyway I feel sorry for him as I know his political views are very different to ours and DD2 can't wait to have him on.ust dropping in to say hi.

I must stop being lazy and get moving. Have to go and fed DD2's cat then will find coffee after which the dining room needs finding. Have spent the week piecing patchwork so things need sorting out in there.
Have a great day

Did someone else throw this cream out there yet.....Silver Sulfadiazine. (aka Silvadene) That's the prescription stuff I got when they toasted an area of skin with rads. Worked very nicely.
-
Chickadee, Silvadene was my saviour during rads, wonderful stuff.
And yes we have fish tanks in waiting rooms, must be some sort of universal conspiracy. Maybe the fish are spys?

I'm having the day off work today seeing ChrissyB arrived yesterday. I've told her she has to put up with coming grocery shopping with me today. We're having a get together here his weekend. 7 of us going out to dinner tonight and tomorrow we're going on a river cruise/lunch so the out of towners can see the city from the water.
-
An update on the pain cream I bought at the markets on the weekend - I can walk without limping and without a knee strap!!! An absolute miracle!!!
-
Yay, suzie! That's great news.
-
suzie,
Could you give the name of the pain cream again? I must have missed it. My DH is in constant knee pain and could use the help.
-
It's called Rock ya Pain
Nothing will fix needing a knee replacement, but I figure if I can just get through the bike trip in NZ next year that would be good.
It wasn't cheap $65 for a jar, but well worth it. I need to figure out how often I will need to buy it - fair bit gone already. I don't know if I've been using the right amount either.
The girl who sold it to me said her Mum only needs it once a day now, so there must be a cumulative effect.
-
Looks like its only sold in Australia.
-
It is only sold in Australia. Too bad. I hope it works for you, suzieq.

Woman with large dental bill becomes a Twinkies kingpin
When Hostess announced last month that it was going belly up in bankruptcy, ceasing operations and thus turning off the Twinkies spigot, this is what Maranda Berkley saw: $$$$$$$$$$.Berkley is 29. She lives in Middletown. She has a $2,000 dental bill to pay off, and so, according to the Frederick News-Post, Berkley bought 30 boxes of Twinkies and joined dozens, perhaps hundreds, perhaps even thousands, of $$$$$$$$$$ dreamers selling black market Twinkies on eBay.
What she paid per box: $1. Her resale price: $11 per box. Her inventory of boxes remaining: 8.
“One person from Japan bought three boxes,” Berkley told the paper.
Berkley is also eating into her potential profits.
-
30 Twinkies boxes times $11 is only $330. That won't make much of a dent in her dental bill...

I love America!
-
Ditto re: Enjoyful's writing skills. Love the wit!
Suzie, enjoy the get together! Sounds like fun!
Well, the tree is up and I'm getting in the holiday spirit.
-
Oh dang I got a ditty stuck in my head....Country Joe and the Fish
"And it's one, two, three, what are we fighting for
don't ask me I don't give a damn, next stop is Viet Nam
And it's five, six, seven, open up the pearly gates
ain't no time to wonder why, whoopee we're all gonna die"
My son starting asking questions....Kennedy, Kruschev, duck and cover drills in elementary school, who shot who and why our generation seemed to go bonkers at a place called Woodstock..........I told him it seemed like all the adults in our life thought the end was a coming and it had nothing to do with the Mayan calendar.
So our music, often full of sarcastic wit reflected that. I still get a chuckle out of singing that little ditty even though it really was depressing. -
THIS POST WAS FIRST PUBLISHED NEXT DOOR. ONLY FAIR TO POST IT HERE TOO, SO HERE GOES:
Look, Next Door, if it's any comfort, I just noticed that the mods deleted a post of mine in which I believe I railed against the conservtive bias perpetrated by spinless liberals at the NYT. I criticized the NYT - LOL! A failry bipartisan rant, IMO.

I don't think any one side is getting it worse. Remember all the years and years when only liberal views were attacked and deleted? I have lost count of how many of you had our people banned.
Disclosure: I did not report any of Shirley's or Laura's posts that were deleted by the community. I don't know if I would have or not as I did not see those particular posts before they disappeared.
But can we agree that cancer and the arts are off limits. There is no reason for a conversation on art to be met with vulgarity.
As for cancer, how about a NEW RULE: Anybody from our thread is more than happy to stand by you sisters in a cancer crisis. I am worried about Paula and glad, Paula, that you are paying us a visit with cancer question. Please let us know the MRI results as soon as you can.
Shirley - I can't help liking you althouh I doubt whether it is reciprocated. I know you are a stage IV sister who likey needs advice. There are more stage IV-ers next door so please pop in with any question, milestone to report.
What may be galling the mods is when you here take a peanut gallery attitude and make what come across as snide remaks about what we are saying. There is snarkiness on our side too, That is why I am posting this post in both places so that no one can say we are not being fair.

Nice try Athena. I think the mirror is about to implode. We can pick up the shards and any BIG pieces can join us. If they wish. We can be nice. Friendly, kind, silly, sharp...actually most of the adjectives fit. So will some of them.
-
Yep, fell on deaf ears. Still talking politics.
-
My DH had surgery yesterday and he's just to that point where he's getting antsy, but still feeling horrible and not allowed to do much of anything until he sees the doctor again on Monday. In other words...I need a drink. Where's the bartender?
-
RR, until Cheryl comes along, how about one of these? (Tis the season!)

(Hope your hubby starts feeling better soon!)
-
Not surprised, but I thought I would err on the side of trying. My biggest fear is that the Mirror women will close their accounts and emerge a few weeks later to terrorize us. The mods have no way of verifying who is whom.
I swear, if Pat, as thread leader, asks the mods to close that thread, I will personally open one myself.
I will not tolerate the days of drive-by shootings.
It is in our interest that the Mirror thread stay alive, folks. Otherwise, they will swoop in here and try to get us closed.
Or, I will have to hear things I DON"T WANT TO HEAR!!!! about what is being said on other web sites. That's as good as doing these people's drive bys for them.
So we need to keep next door alive. I don't want people coming here under aliases attacking us.
