Dancing with the Stars

I would have been happy either way too. Great season!
-
Sorry, but I get the impression that we are not supposed to tell because some of us live in different time zones...is that correct?
-
True....mums the word until our West Coast friends are done!
-
Phewwwwwww...I would have been mortified and probably banned from the boards. Glad I used my brain for a change...lol
-
Yes, you would have been reported to the mods for sure
!
-
30 minutes for me before it starts for me and I am glad you did not "tell" but if you had I would only be upset with myself for checking in before it is all over. I certainly would not have considered it a reportable offence.
-
We are just teasing
.
-
I know. 15 min now! lol
-
I would have been happy either way but I am extra happy for Tony, he's had some crappy parters over the seasons so it's great to see him go all the way to the end. Well ladies it's been a fabulous season, see you again in March...... Oh they are on our local news right now, he is just beaming and she is radiant.
-
YAAAAAAAAYYYY!!!
I'm really happy for Melissa and Tony. She had such a positive attitude all the way through, and I'm so glad that Tony finally got his reward.
Many thanks to all you earlier-time-zone ladies for being so thoughtful!!!
Now...what to do until March?
-
Shawn really was my favorite of the stars but I was very happy to see Tony get a trophy finally.
-
I started watching the program but fell asleep when they were starting the 'instant dance', woke up just in time to see that Tony and Melissa won, not sure who was in 2nd or 3rd. Staying up til 11 is not for me.

Yes,lvtwoqlt, it's a long night when it goes on till 11.
Well, I was happy with that win! I'd have been happy with either Shawn or Melissa winning, tho Melissa was a staunch but positive competitor, and Tony has gotten so close and lost before, so I'm happy he's won. Now there's numeous professionals with trophies, and I like that.
I liked seeing all the old contestants, too. Loved the reprise of the group dances, "Gundum Style" and "Call Me Maybe".
-
Just saw the three couples this morning on Good Morning America. Imo, Kelly and Val had a 'showmance'. I think Kelly realizes she has a soap opera fan base some of whom sort of live their lives through her. If she is a princess dancing on a show with a hunk, they are, too. I think she played into that notion, and I don't have a problem with it, that's just the nature of show business.
I do wonder, tho, what Max thinks about his brother Val upstaging him. Val has such a different personality. They're both raking in the money, tho.
-
Wow...I'm glad I didn't comment on the winners. Is it that serious that I would had been reported?
-
shorbr, that's just a joke.
One thing I could do without is that final dance off, where they had to pick a dance and make up a quick routine. Then the judges get to vote again. I mean, what's the point? I think the free-style should be their final dance. After all, the quick routines are all dances and stuff we've seen all season.
-
TheDivineMrsM - for me, seeing SOME of the old contestants was fun.
What was not fun was seeing Pamela Anderson strut around like a hooker with a bunch of men and do absolutely no dance steps whatsoever. Ah, well, we all have our strengths!
Drew Lachey's daughter was cute, but those two little dancers who performed with Joey and Kim in their "Back to the Future" number were awesome.
Truthfully? I'm really tired of "Gangnam Style" and all the take-offs. It's kind of had its run, like the Macarena.....
I just read where both Derek and Maks will be leaving after this season. Maks, because he says there's nowhere else for him to go on DWTS (apparently he hosts a popular show in Ukraine); and Derek because he wants to transition into acting. (He already has made a movie: COBU 3D.)
-
I agree about Pamela...she was just shaking her hair all over the place, blah.
Also agree about the back to the future kids...cute routine.
Interesting about Maks and Derek, but not too surprising.
-
I thought it was neat to see how genuinely happy they all seemed for each other at the end.
-
I thought the same thing, ruthbru!!!
-
The rest of the cast always seems happy for the winners and makes a fuss over their co-workers but never before have they been so jubilant! Even to hoisting Tony on their shoulders!
-
As much as I love the dancing, I just hate the two hour sessions where they drag everything out and bring back the contestants that were voted off. Why would I need to see them dance again?
I was happy with the winners...Melissa and Tony were great, as were Shawn and Derek. Really, I think it came down to the fan vote and the fact that Derek opted to do the dance that the judges didn't like the last time. It seemed almost programed to me.
-
You could say that by trying to do exactly what the show is meant to do Derek and Shawn shot themselves down. They did say they were more interested in entertaining than winning.
-
I definitely think there is a measure of "fixing" the results. As the all-star show unfolded, I think producers could see there was a "feel-good story" in the Melissa/Tony partnership. I think there are meetings behind closed doors with the judges and other meetings behind closed doors with the professional dancers. It doesn't matter to me...I'm still a huge fan of the show.
One thing Melissa & Tony had going in their favor besides skill is that they were continuing their partnership from a previous season. Then, being the underdogs by not having a mirror ball trophy made people root for them. What a fun season.
-
This was a really fun season and it's only my second. How can they top this?!
I was very happy with the result, they deserved to win and it was about time for Tony.
Hadn't heard that yet about this being the last season for Derek and Maks.
Seems like Maks drew the short stick celebrity-wise. Last season was Melissa Gilbert and this season was Kirstie. Was it always so?
Derek seemed to draw more talented partners. He's a great choreographer with a hot bod but sorry not that good-looking IMHO. He's going from being a big fish in a small pond (DWTS) to a small fish in a big pond (Hollywood), and may not like the result.
-
Hey Badger don't forget Dereks sister has made the jump to recording and movies successfully and is the girlfriend of Ryan Seacrest, I love him but I always wondered why he seemed to get the "better" partners, I wish he would had got someone like Cloris Leachman or heaven forbid Pamela Anderson, lets really see how good is then
and as for Maks, well he and Kirstie had a fantastic partnership when they were together the first time and if you've watched from season 1 he ain't the easiest person to get along with
-
Without Maks and Derek, the show will pale in comparison to it's original self. I haven't seen any of the other professionals reach the capacity of these two....sorry....but if that happens, I will probably no longer watch the show on a regular basis. Maks was the "eye candy" and Derek was the top notch choreographer in my book. I always looked forward to seeing them dance.
-
At one time, I thought Maks was really hot, but then his ego got too inflated for my liking. He's had some good partners, the singer Brandy and the sportscaster Erin Andrews. He also paired with Laila Ali, Muhammed Ali's daughter, and they were fabulous together. Another partner was Mel B (Scary Spice of the Spice Girls), they came in 2nd place and were awesome to watch.
Well, I'll still give the show a chance, even if Maks and Derek leave. Have to see what kind of new magic the new professionals can make.
Derek's sister, Julianne...now that girl has everything. She was in the audience of the last show, I loved her shorter haircut, she is drop-dead gorgeous, can sing, dance, act...the true triple threat as they say. Makes me sick (ROTFL).
-
I have only watched it for a couple seasons, don't have strong feelings of loyalty to any of the dancers, so I will enjoy it no matter who is on. I also really do like the final night when all the 'cut' dancers come back and just dance for fun. (Of course, my favorite part of the Olympic skating is when the competetion is over, and all the skaters do their exhibition skates, so Iam more in it for the fun.)
