Lewing - how gorgeous! Renoir-esque, but without the evanescence.

You guys are making me fall in love with small dogs!!

I'm currently enamored with chalkboard art, but since this one is on flickr, I cannot grab it:

One of my walls in my new kitchen is painted with chalkboard paint, so I'm dreaming of the possibilities.

Lewing, I've always liked that painting too.  I haven't been to the DIA in a couple of years so need to go again, but it's a whole day thing when I go.  No, I don't live far away, takes me 30-40 minutes to get there.  But once there you have to pry me out.

Good morning world.  I did not bother with the "others".  I don't think anyone here really did and sorry if they had posts taken out.

Kam your explanations are so well thought out and very coherent for me.....don't see how anyone could find fault with that.  I do think it comes down to your trying to see what is right about something.  I know it takes all kinds.....and in reality I think we all slip in and out of feelings of good and bad, positive and negative and are in rather constant states of adjustment....but you really HAVE to WANT to make it work.  If you just look for all the out-points...eventually that is all there is going to be for you.  I liked the picture.  Reminds me of home too as we have been un-able to allocate much for upkeep during my diagnosis and tx. years.

Happy sunshine out today and really looking forwad to the 1st. week of the next coming month when my daughter and dh come.....I'm so happy and she will be bringing ( don't know I may have said it here already ) her dog Georgie who is a 7 lb. Pappion.  He is a real cutie....so it should be a blast.

Hope you all have a day full of sunshine of some kind.

    Jackie

Two of the three I posted are Bouguereaus as well.

P.S.  I wasn't making fun of anyone either, just stating facts.

So funny...my mind works so slow and laborious that I think I'm going to have two posts together and there are tons in between.

Me too, Jackie, me too!  This thread moves so fast that if you hesitate or get distracted -- BOOM!  Another three posts between yours and the one you're responding to.

Edited to add: hahahaha!  See what I mean?

Blue, I'm assuming the bird-on-finger one was a Bouguereau?  That's the one that brought the Nut Gatherers to mind for me . . . something about the style (and the sweetness, too).  But I didn't know for sure it was the same artist.

Don't have anything to add to anything this morning except for THANKS.  I laughed my $$$ off at the tequila cake recipe, and really truly want to retire from being an adult, so thankfully appreciated the memories of rock throwing and stick floating (though I think I'll pass on McDonalds Laughing)

Thanks again for y'all being here.  Also the pictures are GORGEOUS!!!

And if I haven't said it already, CONGRATULATIONS Lewing.  May you have a joyous wedding and a wonderful life together!!

All of you lovely ladies seem to know so much about art and artists, so I'm going to ask...  There is a painting I used to have a copy of.  The artist's name was (I think) Mary something.  It is a painting of a little girl (about a two year old...???) sitting on the beach she's a little plump and is wearing (I think) a blue dress...

Does this ring any bells for anyone?  I want to find a digital copy of that picture if possible, but I'm so artistically stupid (I'm definitely one of those people who says "I don't know art, but I know what I like.... Undecided) that I don't know where to begin my search.

I didn't report anything. I don't even read the Mirror thread.

In other news...I've had 2.5 days of radiation and my skin is already turning red. All I want for Christmas is my healed-up skin...

Off to get ready for work. Hope everyone has a great day!

After everyone started talking I went to look at the Mirror thread, I didn't report anything - I've never reported anything.  Something would have to be awfully egregious for me to report, as I'm always of the opinion that everyone should be able to have (and voice) their own opinion(s).

And now for something completely different!

    Lipstick in Catholic School
According to a news report, a certain private Catholic school was recently faced with a unique problem. A number of 12-year-old girls were beginning to use lipstick and would put it on in the bathroom.
That was fine provided it was of a natural or neutral skin tone, but after they put on their lipstick, they would press their lips to the mirror leaving dozens of little lip prints. Every night the maintenance man would remove them; and the next day the girls would put them back.
Finally, the principal, Sister Mary, decided that something had to be done. She called all the girls to the bathroom and met them there with the maintenance man. She explained that all these lip prints were causing a major problem for the custodian, who had to clean the mirrors every night (you can just imagine the yawns from the little ladies).
To demonstrate how difficult it had been to clean the mirrors, Sister Mary asked the maintenance man to show the girls how much effort was required.
He took out a long-handled squeegee, dipped it in the toilet, and cleaned the mirror with it.
Since then, there have been no lip prints on the mirror.
There are teachers...... And then there are educators!
If Sister Mary ran for office I would vote for her!
