Dancing with the Stars

If Derek had a partner who was a whiny washed up actress trying to re-start her career, I'd be sick of him. For example, if Derek had Kelly as a partner, they may have gotten voted off by now. Shawn is bringing out his best because she's a different kind of gal than he usually dances with, and I like that.
Next week's show should be great, they're allowed to have a big production and bring in back up dancers for their routines......very much looking forward to it.
-
Last night's elimination was fair...I think the fan base is keeping Kelly around...that and the chemistry she and Val seem to have with each other...LOL!
Next week will be fun...I really don't care who wins as long as they put on a good show!
-
I think Kelly and Val's "chemistry" is part of what turns me off. To me it crosses over from professionalism to to much public display of intimacy.
-
I agree, chabba.
-
Whoever wins the show, I want to know that they have great skills, love to dance, and that they have fun out there on the dance floor.
That's what makes it fun and exciting for me.
Kelly is a soap opera star? I'd never heard of her until this season's DWTS. (Obviously, we didn't see Season 1.)
-
So glad Melissa and Shawn made it, can't imagine what Derek will come up with after that amazing Bangra dance, he really is something else, I'm going to be sad that this season is over it really has been fantastic.
-
excited to see the US womens gymnastic team perform with Shawn and Derek!
-
That should be fun!
-
I thought they were all great tonight!
-
I'm looking forward to seeing it tonight. Still have an hour 45 min to wait!
-
They were all on the top of their games. I might go for Melissa just because she has the dancers flowing moves...although I love Shawn's high energy and bounce. I still think Val and Kelly should get a hotel room!
-
So do you think Kelly and Val are a real couple or all for votes?
-
I just absolutely loved the show. It's so hard to decide who to vote for, who I want to win. I like Melissa so well, and would love to see Tony win a mirror ball. And she is an amazing dancer. On the other hand, I thought Shawn's free style with the other gymnasts was spectacular, and she's also been a favorite of mine all season. Hard not to root for that kind of all-American team!
I didn't care for what Brooke Burke was wearing tonight...her shoulders were all shiny and those plastick-y see-through straps were awful, too much cleavage and I never care for hair styled like that. Melissa's dress for the free-style was beautiful, and I loved Shawn's hair in the free-style.
-
That is hard to tell......good publicity either way
-
Yea, I'm not sure if that's a "Show-mance" with Kelly and Val or a real Romance. She is in the storytellin' business with her daytime soap, so it could be a good acting job. I did think their free style lacked originality like Len said.
-
Melissa or Shawn - hard to pick -like them both!
-
I just hope they don't split the vote and leave Kelly on top!
-
Well, goody!
Sounds like we're in for a good show tonight..starts in ten minutes here in Cali!!!
-
Well, that WAS a good show!
I didn't mind Brooke's dress so much as I minded that hairdo...kept thinking she looked like Wilma Flintstone.
Hmmmm.....Kelly and Val......romance or showmance? He sure kept smooching her all night long....but she never smooched him back on camera! That slip-up during their Paso was sooo obvious, but they didn't get marked down much on the judges scores.
Their second dance...a tribute to "Dirty Dancing" was sort of underwhelming in my book. Plus the gospel choir and the troup dancers all around them were very distracting, and took away from their freestyle dance instead of adding to it.
Melissa and Tony - I just love her positive spirit! In their first dance, Bruno called her a "Brazilian Bombshell". All I could think of was how she must have had a Brazilian WAX to pull off wearing that extremely low-cut skirt!!!!
I didn't care for the opening of their freestyle dance...when Tony was carrying her on her back, and she was bicycling her legs over her head, she looked like a bug trying to right itself. Then her skirt flipped over Tony's head, making him look like he had a weird long white wig on. But the style was definitely different, and I do think they took a risk on an impressive dance. They are the only couple who hasn't won a mirror ball trophy...could this be their time?
Shawn and Derek are always good for a great performance. I knew when they decided to break the rules in their first dance (Quickstep) it would show in their judges scores. But I also liked the way Shawn said they had decided they would dedicate the season to the audience and to the fans, and would give them what they wanted.
I thought the second dance, with the Womens Olympic Gymnastic Team, was great. Shawn thanked Derek for giving her back her confidence, and that performance - with her dance partner and her former teammates - must have done great things for her self-esteem.
So...one more dance tomorrow night? Can't wait to see what they all come up with!
-
Loved the show tonight, all my votes went for Melissa & Tony - cell phone, house phone and facebook so 15 from me. I loved Shawn & Derek but it was all acrobaticcs, it was fabulous but for me it was all about "dancing" and I thought Melissa's freestyle was beautiful.
-
Blessings, your post makes me chuckle...ha, ha, Wilma Flintstone, so right! And Melissa's freestyle dance description of the upside down insect, lol.
I think Derek went the unconventional route with his partner because he's won so many mirror ball trophies, it doesn't matter if he gets this one. He's just keeping things interesting for himself. I've totally enjoyed his amazing talents alongside Shawn. There isn't any physical chemistry between the two...I got a little tired of them both high-fiving each other repeatedly after all their performances...he's so used to some kind of romantic connection with his partner (real or showmance), but with Shawn it was more like a brother/sister thing. That's okay, it's just different for Derek.
-
Hard to say who will win....it's really up to the fans I guess. They were all good, but certainly Shawn and Derek have the best choreography of all...they just nail it every time!
Kelly and Val....if they fell for each other....great....if it's just a showmance...well, that's good marketing strategy for them to make up for their underdog status. We'll see...LOL!
Looking forward to final event tonight! I prefer the one hour episodes...less fill.
-
I am already going into withdrawl symptoms!
-
Me too Ruth.
-
Last night I heard Tony say something about how he had never won the mirror ball trophy in 14 seasons....and I thought DWTS has been on for 14 years? No way!
Then I looked it up, and there are two seasons per year.
The next one is in March 2013!!! Not TOO far away.....
-
I like the one hour episodes, too. But tonite we'll see all the voted off ones this season, oh joy, Kirstie and Bristol again, lol. Some gals from work seem to think it's Melissa's turn to shine, and that Shawn's too gymnasticky. I don't know anyone who likes Kelly! Ha, ha, but I guess I'm glad she went so far since she's the first one who ever one. I like at the beginning of the show when they're playing the music and showing all the stars who are on for the season, Kelly is the only one shown with the mirror ball, it's sort of a tribute to her place in the history of the show.
-
Let the dancing begin!
-
Wow, what a fun night! Love to see all the previous dancers just out there having fun.
-
-
Thought it would be the other couple, but I'm happy with the ones that were chosen
