Hey Birdies I wanted to check in to see how you all are doing on your diets? I know the holidays are fast approaching us. Well I have bit the bullet since I have hit the 181 lb mark... UGH!!! Night shift and Tamoxifen will kill your weight boo!! I have an appointment to see a primary physician locally that specializes in weight loss (he also treats regular patients too) and I will be seeing him on Tues. Gotta do something on a permanent basis and get this weight off once an for all. Got to get healthy again. One of my resident's dropped an earring in the floor and I got down to look for it on my knees... well after I found it I had to use the side rail on the bed to pull myself up. Really shouldn't have to do that at my age I'm only 48 and I have grandkids that are 3-12. Another example, my hubs and I went to the races a few weeks ago in Charlotte, NC and the incline to the track is steep well, I had to stop 3 times on the way up just to make it into the track itself. Pitiful! So outta shape. I am very ashamed of myself. No one to blame but me and the food I like to put in my mouth. LOL!! Anyway I am trying to desperately remotivate myself. I know the dr is going to do blood work I am afraid to see what it will show. I haven't had my cholesterol checked in over a year. Frightening. I will see you all soon because I will definitely need the motivation and some pep talks to stay on this diet for good.
-
hi Renee, good to see you here! I also take tamox and it's been a bear to lose weight. On a plateau for several months, hovering around 170 but unable to break into the 60's. Was up a bit but now back to 171 again. Motivated to lose at least 2 lbs by Thanksgiving.
Y'all are welcome to join us on the "Let's Post Our Daily Exercise" thread here in the Fitness Forum. Great place for support and accountability. We range in ages, stages, and fitness levels. Some are ultra-fit and for some a walk to the mailbox during chemo is an accomplishment. I'm in the middle of the pack. :-)
-
thanks Badger... I go see the doc on Tuesday hope it's all good and he will give me the diet pills some won't without o.k. from my Med Onc. I mean really??? it's my body and I can do with it what I want and right now I want to lose this big fat gut and butt I have, oh yeah arms and legs too! LOL!!! I'm so over weight if I could see 150 I would do a happy dance.
-
We'll be doing it with you! You know you get exercise points for the happy dance, right?
I'll be doing it when I hit 169.something. My goal weight is 160.
Don't even want to mention the 150's to myself (shhhhh).

-
LOL badger you actually made me laugh

Hey everyone! I started my diet Weds
yeah me!!! Went to the dr and got the old Adipex and he gave me a diet called the Kentucky Diet (never heard of it and don't know really where he got it, but it's for people on the run) LOL. Basically you have 3 slim fast shakes a day (one of them is breakfast with a serving of fruit or vegetables and the other 2 are midmorning and midafternoon snacks), then use have something like a lean cusine entree' less than 180 calories for lunch and supper (and pick 2 things in certain measured quantities... can be 2 vegetables or 1 fruit and 1 vegetable). Not very hard to follow... of course you can add your own in there too for example I had one medium scramble egg instead of a shake for breakfast with my 1/4 grapefruit. It's early... only day 3 today but looks like I lost a pound this morning. Was hoping for more, but who am I kidding! I take Tamoxifen and this is going to be a battle... that I am gonna win! No candy or chips for me either I was good!!!

NM - You're welcome! Enjoy it. That was the view in one direction from the house where I stayed this summer.
I've been off BCO for a few weeks - crazy at work, home, etc. And I'm just crazy.
Got some Pepcid for my ulcer hunger, but just tonight checked my other drugs to make sure there weren't interactions. I'll start taking it tomorrow, I guess (or should I try Prilosec instead, NM??). Of course, today I have allergy sore throat so I've been eating/drinking throughout the day to soothe my throat and kill my cough. I just can't win right now. I would be ecstatic to reach mid-160's. In fact, I would be very happy to get under 200 right now. -
Bookart--Pepcid and prilosec are both good for ulcers. Get the generic version and save yourself some $$$. You can take prilosec (omeprazole) twice a day for a while (up to 3 months) to help heal ulcers. You can take Pepcid (famotadine) twice a day for 4-6 weeks. Pepcid is best taken at bedtime. Prilosec is best taken about 30 minutes before eating something.
The sore throat thing is a pain, too. Chewing gum helps with the sore throat and the heartburn/ulcer issue.
Hope you feel better very soon!

If I stick to my diet this week, I can get to 169.9 by Thursday morning.
(all bets are off for Thanksgiving Day - I will have a piece of pumpkin pie!)
I'm going to walk a lot this weekend in the warmish weather and no snow.
Want to get in miles walked and exercise points before exercise restriction.
Good luck everyone, keep on keepin' on!

hi birdies, not going to "officially" check in but stopping in to say Happy Thanksgiving a day late. I did not break the 170 barrier by yesterday but I was so close I won't complain.
Just home from hospital, had an ooph this morning. Sleepy from pain meds and belly is sore from where he moved aside a muscle to get the cyst (6 cm +) out in one piece. While we won't know for sure until path report comes back, he said it does not look like cancer so that's good news. Also, the results from the CA-125 are in already and negative so more good news.
I went out walking last night after supper and made it to 3,001 miles walked! ((hugs)) to all
-
(p.s. congrats NM - progress IS good!)
-
A belated Happy Thanksgiving to you all. Glad to hear you are doing well after your Ooph badger. Take Care. I've been on my diet for 3 1/2 weeks and I've lost 11 lbs. I'm at 171 lbs. not back to my all time low here but its a start. I'm feeling better and I can tell my clothes are a little looser. I've still got a way to go. That crazy doc thinks I should weigh under 127 lbs... LOL I haven't been that weight since before my son was born and he's about to be 26. I pretty much stayed around the 130 -134 in my 30's. I've been over 140 in my 40's and over 160 since I hit 145. Sad but true and I'm trying to remedy that. Lifestyle changes. The hard part for me is drinking water... hate it! But I'm trying

-
mimi--I get really tired of water at times, too. There's a company that makes citrus crystals call Truelemon, Truelime, Truegrapefruit, Trueorange, as well as some flavored tea crystals that you can add to water (and a lot of other stuff, too!) to give it some taste. They have a website at
These have been a lifesaver for me, if I can stay away from soda I feel better and am able to lose some weight (now that I'm off the arimidex). Maybe this would help you, too.
-
Thanks NM! I may just give them a try
