Welcome newbies,
For some reason I was looking on the anyone in phoenix, AZ area and it was not on my favorites. So I was not aware of any posts. So it is back on my favorites after searching for our page. I just wanted to leave a message for everyone for in November.
Hello Everyone,
I need to cancel November 21st for that is the day before Thanksgiving and cause of that there will be a no show. So I am changing the date to Wednesday November the 14th. Still at the same time and location. Thanks Tracy for letting me be aware of this.

Hi Desert Bells,
I just stumbled upon this thread and think it's great for people to get together. If there's room for one more, may I join in?
I live in south Chandler near Chandler Heights and Alma School. My DH and I have lived here for about 15 years. We are both avid quilters and love to embroider. Although I confess I've not done too much in my studio since my DX because these tissue ex's have been so pesky. I got my last fill today and I swear my boobs are touching my shoulder blades. But I'll have exchange surgery on 11/14 so the sewing machines will be humming again soon.
Hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to the holidays.
Hugs

ebann,
I'll be there for the dinner and ornament exchange, I already sent you a pm about it. I can't wait to see everyone again and I'll most likely be bringing a friend with me this year. I don't know which friend yet, but I'll put some thought into it. I'll also have to put a lot of thought into coming up with an unusual ornament, the ones I saw given last year were all so great and thoughtful. Even some of the gift wrap was unbelievably beautiful. I normally don't make a big deal of Christmas...but this one get together gives me something fun to look forward to. Thank you for being so thoughtful as to make all the arrangements for all of us. You're a good person my friend.
All my love you you and your beautiful family,
cin

Today's Arizona Republic had an informational item in today's "Health Insider" section indicating the University of Arizona Cancer Center is recruiting women for a study on whether a compound found in broccoli can improve the health of women who are at risk for breast cancer or are recovering from it. They are looking for 170 women in the Phoenix and Tucson areas who already take Tamoxifen. Metro Phoenix residents interested in knowing more may call 602 264-4461 or 480 461-3772. The article didn't list the number in Tucson but indicated you could go to azcc.arizona.edu for more info. I called today and they are sending me a packet with more information.

I just found this thread and am very excited to join your group. I live in Chandler and work in east Mesa.
With the holiday fast approaching I would love to get together after the first of the year. I have been married to my DH for 33 years and have lived in Chandler most of my life.
I am going in for surgery December 27th to have the tissue expanders put in. I have to go back to work by January 2nd to do payroll. My boss completely forgot about my surgery and is going to Africa. Any thoughts as to what to expect would be much appreciated.
I look forward to joining your group.
Dayna -
lola welcome to the group. There is a few in this group that has had expanders put in. It will be nice to meet you. I have not decided on what we are going to do for the month of January. So my mind is thinking. These are wonderful ladies who are supportive loving and really have a heart. You are more than welcome to join us on Friday for the ornament exchange.
Welcome again,
Elizabeth

Hi and welcome, Lola. I had a tissue expander put in during unilateral mastectomy surgery in 2008. This was during spring break (I'm a teacher), and I was back at work in about 10 days with strict orders NOT to lift anything. I healed well and had exchange surgery (silicone implant) during fall break.
Since you've already had a bilateral mast and are having two te's placed, I really can't make any predictions about what your experience will be. I honestly had no major problems and my ps was very conservative with the fills, so I had little pain. Others on here have had much worse experiences, though - hopefully, all will go well with you.

Does Mayo take insurance? I see you are in N Az. Im in Prescott. Where are you?
-
Mayo takes insurance but not all of them so I would check with your carrier and Mayo. I am blessed to have insurance that they do take and originally went with Mayo since they do consolidated billing and I was tired of being piece billed by a dozen people all wanting minimum payments that were slowly bankrupting me...
I live in Cottonwood...I was reading about your last appointment and was wondering if you were going to the Sedona Oncology center? Your visit with the NP sounds likes my appts when I would go there...my onco was Dr. L and the NP was J.P.
