I made the mistake of going online on my iPad and looking at the other thread to see what Linda posted there earlier, forgot to log on...geez. I thought ignorance was bliss but it appears instead to be vituperative. Did anybody else who looked happen to notice that they apparently can't say President Obama's name, and oh woe is me America doesn't exist anymore or some such nonsense?! Such babies! I didn't like President Bush's policies but I would have been ashamed to whine like that.

Any time I see a historical clip of the 60's and the I see those hateful, angry bigots screaming and yelling at the students simply trying to walk in the door of a public school, I am sickened. But I also can't help wondering where they are today. What did they teach their children? Are they still angry bigots? Are they ashamed of their youthful behavior? Or have they just receded into the background until now.......the election of a mixed race president more than they can stand?

They aren't asking *REAL* questions, silly girls! They are just baiting real people to try to make them play in their ridiculous reindeer racist games! They already KNOW the answers ... They just want something to complain to Mommy about. They know enough about research skills to find absurd YouTubes and completely wrong information and racist screeds from Worldnut Daily and the Blaze of Idiocy. They simply don't believe in reality -- only in their little dark cave through the looking glass, just like their loser politicians.



We have more important things to do than to engage impotent cranks. We have a House to turn blue in 2014, and governor's mansions to reclaim. Now is not the time to let up!



And back to the scandal of the day -- apparently Petraeus' girlfriend is a leeeeetle unstable. Kind of calls his judgment even more into question, I am sorry to say. I feel very badly for his wife!



On a personal note, we are moving much less stiffly after our day-long construction marathon. We are off work this week - I am taking my last week-long vacation before I retire next June. And I am now quite sure I can retire. I feel much safer and much more optimistic about our future now that we have President Obama for a second term. I hope he takes his win to heart as a mandate and starts Doing Great Things.

I didn't know Dr. Biden was an M.D.??   So when someone says their dad was a Vet, over there, should I assume a D.V.M.??  Credibility counts.

Petraeus' GF sounds like a real "bunny boiler" - I feel sorry for his wife too.  Wonder who the "other-other" woman is?  Can't make this stuff up - bet it's a plot on NCIS any minute now.

We love Vets and DVMs, but we never confuse them in my house!  One rattle of the cat carrier and tails are flying.  I doubt a Vet would elicit the same response.

There have been articles about the 2nd Patreous woman.  She is some sort of liason between the State dept and the Military, but then I've read her portrayed as a Contractor.  She and the bunny boiler are both married to doctors, the first to a radiologist, the second to a surgeon (just the kind we know!)  and live in expensive homes.  I guess Patreous has a type.

I saw Argo, but generally don't go to movies much.  Argo was a good movie.  My daughter, however, was upset with it because the true life CIA agent was Hispanic, and in Argo, he's white.  She's in Hollywood, engaged to an Asian-American, and there's so few opportunities for Asian or Latino actors.  White washing - when they take a book or a historical incident that involves minorities and cast whites in the role - is a big problem for minority actors out there, at least for Asians and Latinos.  African Americans have become more main stream, oddly.

My husband has hearing difficulties......a cochlear implant. Tends to start snoring in the movie theatre.........sigh. Of course I pick movies without explosions and body parts being removed from their owners.......ick.



He's willing to see Lincoln but we can take odds on if he'll nod off.

We saw the move The Man with the Fists of Iron.  We thought it would be terrific with Russell Crowe and Lucy Liu and Quentin Tarantino directing.  What an absolute bomb.  It was like an 1 1/2 hour trailer for a video game.  No plot. No character development.  Just faked martial arts and lots of blood.  It was so bad we laughed.  Lucy Lui, like always, stole the show.

Loved that Marigold Hotel movie.  I've not been feeling well for a couple days - tummy trouble - so haven't felt like being online.  Now I've got insomnia....

I really want to see Lincoln! OT, a little bit, but we are going to see Springsteen next Saturday! Woohoo, I love that man's music! Kind of easy to look at too. 

Sunflowers, thanks for the tip on Enchanted April.  I never saw it so I went and watched the trailer and it looks like one to put on my list.

Did anyone else see Monsoon Wedding?  That is one of my all-time favorites.

Beautiful day out this morning....lots of sun.  Had that yesterday with temps at 72 degrees.  Then big storm in last night....rained from 4:45 p.m. on through the night and wow....lots of cold and frost this morning.  Guess it is time time to get the winter clothes out of moth balls...re-washed and in my closet.  Winter is near.

Still thankful though for the sun to warm us -- not enough to suit me, but sun always makes cooler temps easier to bear.  Have had such strange weather the last 3 years.  Global warming is here.

Haven't been to a movie in some time.  Hate to admit I have ten or twelve that were given to me and I haven't had time to sit down and watch them.....maybe with the colder temps now I'll catch up with things around here and have some time for "pleasure".

*** Is the independent vote overrated? In our latest installment looking at the exit polls from last week's presidential election, here's something you might not have known: Romney actually won the independent vote, 50%-45%. So now twice in the last three elections -- in 2004 and 2012 -- the winner has lost the indie vote. What does this mean? Well, party ID appears to matter much more: In 2004, it was even; in 2008, it was D+7; and last week, it was D+6. Also, many polls have different ways of deciding who is an “independent”; some pollsters include “lean Dems and lean GOPers” in their independent number which lately has given the indie number a GOP skew. If you move the leaners into their own parties, then you get a more pure indie subgroup (and you also realize how really small of a subgroup it is).

Of course, we all know polls matter --- or at least, I think we ALL know it now and skewing your polls to come out the way you wish to see them is bound to leave you somewhere you'd rather not be.
