I say yes, you say no, OR People are Strange

He did post some Twitter messages the other night - including one calling for revolution - which he later deleted. The Huffington Post kept copies - that is how I saw them.

Who knows....no brain expert myself, God knows. If Romney had magically won, though, I think I would have had a brain turn or two.

How are our NY/NJ and other east coasters doing?  Athena ... did you notice that the latest storm was named for you?

Lindasa, I wish Karl Rove would simply jump in a lake. Of all sore losers, this man takes the cake. His donors would be idiots to blame him. They would be very naive. Some Wall Street people are shockingly naive, though. It amazes me every time. They think money solves everything, then they wonder why they still have problems.

The big myth that this election has debunked is that money runs politics in the US. It's absolutely not true, and this was especially made evident in state races.

It's good to remember that, overall, our democracy triumphed and we should be thankful. A black man was re-elected and, aside from a protest at a university in backward Mississippi --and all the verbal nastiness-- the country is fine with that. Most conservatives are accepting the facts on the ground in spite of themselves. America continues to be bigger than the sum of its parts.

For a country of this size, this power, with this much diversity and this much vitriol in our discourse, we should be proud. Let's not forget that. Most countries only wish they could deal with a major storm and a presidential election this well.

Despite all of my complaints, it's still good to be a yankee. :-)

ETA: My point is, we don't have tanks on the streets (only arses on the screen). And it's good to remind ourselves to be thankful for that.

I'm going to give a lot of credit to Plouffe and Axelrod.  They've one-upped anything Karl Rove ever did, campaign wise.  All the $$ in the world will not replace being connected to the people that do the actual voting...i.e. "boots on the ground."  Obama did have an advantage, because his network had been established in 2008 and he didn't have to put money into a silly primary, like Romney.  Nevertheless, these guys apparently know what they are doing and the geniuses that they are, they used the 2010 Census - didn't Nate Silver say that?!!! 

The one question that lingers for me, after this election...if the good polls are not with your candidate, is it necessary to lie about the polls as the Republicans did?  You know, everyone loves a winner - so one strategy is to bluff about your candidates popularity.  It's a conundrum, thankfully, Obama did not have to face.  I dislike all the polling for this reason, nevertheless, it is what we have now.

I've been smiling since Tuesday night - I think my face may get stuck  .  I don't now (and apparently never will) understand why some people hate our President so much.  I (personally) thought Reagan was a horrible President, starting the country on the path to a Plutocracy.  Bush Sr. continued those abysmal policies and Bush Jr. - well, he and his cohorts led us into the pit we've been attempting to crawl out of for the last four years.

In other words, I didn't have much use for any of them.  Nonetheless, each of them, while in office, were still my President.  They held the highest office in the land, and though I didn't agree with them, I also didn't call them names and act as if they were somehow illegitimate (though I certainly didn't like the interference of the Supreme Court, the Dems - especially Gore - didn't do what was necessary either).  So, while in office each of them held my respect as the President of these United States.  There are conspiracy theorists on the left, just as there are conspiracy theorists on the right - but the left doesn't circle round and idolize the conspiracy nutjobs - instead, they pretty much ignore them.  One of my biggest issues with the conservative groups is that they seem to believe anything they read or hear, as long as it is something nasty about our President.  They don't take the time to investigate for accuracy - they don't use the first litmus test - is it reasonable?

I didn't want Romney to be elected, and am MOST glad that Obama won.  However, IF Romney had been elected, he would have been my President, too.  I don't dislike the Mormon faith.  It's a religion that cares for their own, and most of our friends are Mormon.  I wouldn't be a Mormon, but there are many reasons for that, most of which would be TMI for an internet website.

I would post this on the Mirror site, but know that it would only cause problems, so instead I'll post it here with the full knowledge that most of the conservative ladies read here.

Oh Bren - lot's of fainting, catastrophizing and demogoguery going on over there.  I guess I'm behind on the latest thing on their lists of things to say, but "free phones" seems to be the trend on Dimwittter.

Feel lucky Bren.....auto gasoline is over $4.00 a gallon where I live and I just put 120 gallons into my 220 gallon kerosene fuel tank and it was $4.00 a gallon (actually less than last year, for the kerosene).  We do not have natural gas here.   This year it might be cheaper to use electricity, so I'm trying to hold off on using my gas heater.

The Romney campaign conceded Florida this afternoon. :-D

What the heck is the "free phone" thing over there anyway - I worked on the '08 and I didn't get a phone and don't know anyone who did - these people are going to end up in padded cells if they don't get a grip - honestly, move on people!

Bren, everybody is talking about "giving up" and just taking the "free stuff" lol! Apparently they don't think there is any use in working or getting an education any more as the country has turned socialist. Democracy is officially dead! I'm just so amazed at the reality distortion field over there. What, exactly, is the "free stuff"?

Wow - Jim Messina is saying that Obama appears to have won the majority of the Cuban-American vote in Florida. Very interesting.

All I can say is none of those women know anyone who has actually survived on welfare.  I was a public defender for two years and my clients by definition had to be below the poverty line. Their paranoid fantasies of how good the poor have it are so devoid of reality that if it weren't so deadly serious for those actually poor, it would be funny.  I had clients living in cars because there wasn't enough low income housing.  I had clients who struggled to make sure that their families had food.  

The only voter fraud in this election was commited by Republicans.  Republicans throwing out registration forms, Repulicans changing addresses on registration forms, Republicans sending out misinformation. 

And the belief that the only reason people voted for Obama was because they wanted free stuff is also a convenient delusion.  My husband and I stand to pay more taxes if Obama keeps his promises because we're in that over 250,000 bracket and you know what, I'm glad to do it.  Because I believe in doing my part.  I can afford to pay more so that a family of four doesn't have to lose unemployment benefits or do without food because we're cutting food stamps.  I can afford to pay more so that some students can get grants to college. I am willing to pay more if we  can do something to slow global warming, which, by the way, is happening.  I am willing to do more because I believe in this country and I believe in helping those who need a hand. 

Sorry.  Sometimes forget.  Don't let crazy people make you crazy.
