Also forget to say to shannagirl, thanks for your sentiments.  It is nice of you to take the time to express your thoughts and to "understand" that we are happy and feeling some relief.  I appreciate that it has been a bit rough on everyone and I  ( understandable ) do feel that with way less obstruction and understanding how things work in the government we can see credible solutions found and administered now.  Thanks again.

On the issue of the death penalty - I am firmly against it and happy to live in a country where it does not happen. There is a much greater punishment in the long term loss of freedom than in death.

The possibility of error and reality that it happens much too often is another reason to avoid the death penalty.

Further, we (well at least some of us) are opposed to spanking our children because it teaches them that violence can solve a problem. Violence by the state does not solve violence in the community.

Indeed, when a person is about to commit a crime, I hardly think they stop to wonder what the legal punishment could be. Instead, they either don't think at all, or they think they won't get caught. Looking at the crime rates in the US, I'd have to say that the death penalty is no deterrent.

I agree, Chickadee. The Republicans aim to "expand the base" of persons paying any income tax yet don't want to tax the wealthy. There's nowhere to go but down.

Yep, radiation again. I meet with the rad onc tomorrow and hope to have a better idea or maybe even a PLAN.

FL needs to get its act together! 2000 is so yesterday. The nation is on to their dirty tricks and won't let the Thugs get away with election theft again. All continuing this charade does is to make people miserable, with the same outcome. 

Yes, and that recount hasn't even begun. They are still doing a first pass!

I have some sympathy for the mirror ladies. I remember well that crushing sense of defeat, especially in 2004. It doesn't feel good.

Re: Florida - the delay is in Miami-Dade - no surprise:

Supervisor Penelope Townsley acknowledged that mistakes had been made in the elections process, according to Miami Herald news partner WFOR-CBS4. She spoke after another day during which elections workers fed thousands of pages of ballots into scanning machines.

With the presidential race settled — but Florida still too close to call — Miami-Dade’s lack of final results have left a much-mocked blank spot on the long-decided electoral map.

Earlier Wednesday, the county had said 20,000 absentee ballots still needed to be counted. The office of Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez issued a news release insisting that the “unprecedented length of the ballot” represents “over 100,000 pages that need to be reviewed and verified, one by one.”

“This in no way is representative of any issues or delays, but a matter of unprecedented volume,” the release said, noting that the county’s canvassing board is continuing to examine suspect absentee ballots.

The tea party is blaming Romney for being too "weak kneed" to secure the win.  

Re death penalty:  I am against it.  It is an act of mercy to let the guilty off the hook.  Let them sit in a cell for the rest of their lives.  Now we just need to make sure that they throw the key away.
