SAS. No infection. Thank goodness!!! Got into the surgeons office and he checked it out and still feels that it will work itself out and heal. Just going to take a little longer than normal.. I have the visiting nurse coming to keep an eye on it for me and will see him again next Monday unless I need to see him before that.... Thanks for all your help and info.. So many things that I do not know nor would I think of..

Good evening to all the fabulous people here....

I'm a little in the dumps right now...kinda have been all day.  A little of this, a little of that.  The Big One:  Talked with DH and the girls about moving my mama back home with us.  Made the decision to talk with mama about it...a little more seriously this time.  That conversation didn't go as well as I thought it would.  I guess I thought it would be a given...I've always taken care of my mama.  She's very comfortable with us and the house is big enough...we cook and all that...but she said "I think it's best I stay where I am."  I'm crushed.  I am probably looking into this too much but it feels like she's giving up almost...like, there's no point in moving her here.  Ugh.  She doesn't like where she is and I know she would be happier here - I'm not guessing at that...she knows it too.  I asked her to at least think about it...think about moving home.  She said she would. When I talked to her today she was so bored and kinda cranky.  I just know that she would enjoy her days better here.  I'd be home, the animals are here...she'd have a computer and cable....I dunno...just really sad about our conversation I guess.

Sorry.  Long rant....I should have never let her go to that assisted living place.  I just couldn't be with her 24 hours a day and she needed that type of care.

Remind her it was just temporary. Someone may be giving her an earful about how she would disrupt your family.  The assisted living facility only makes mobey on full beds.   You sound like you really want your mom with you. I would go for it whole hog.   If you will enjoy one another it is a good thing.

    Love Ginger

Quick check in - life's been busy, busy, busy.  Plus my fricken thyroid levels are still messed up, so I'm falling asleep nearly right after I get home from work and then make dinner.

Veggy - sweet dear - there are no words ... even from those of us who live this crummy BC life.  Cry all you need to then get ready to fight!  We are all fighting with you!

Mary - welcome!  I'm not in here as much as some of the other ladies, but I can promise you that this is such a great group!  Will support you no matter what!

Fuzzy, give it a rest tonite. Then have a chat with her tomorrow or after election day. She's paid up for the rest of the month. You could ask for a trail period. It would take some coordination with the equipment /meds/ and the d- chair. It might mean paying for DEC. for the assisted living. That way she then has a choice. Everything is doable re: her medical stuff--it's as if she would be going on vacation. Check with assisted living place.  also check with that local place to see if they have a chair available--talk to the person that decides who gets a chair. If a chair available, ask if you can put her on the list until you can make definite plans. Have Faith seweetie it will work out.

Has any one read or heard how many people will not be able to vote tomorrow b/c of lack of access b/c of the storm. I just read the Wiki section on"Voters rights". Natural disistaers are not covered. Ergo, through no fault of their own citizens will be disenfranchised. This could dramatically affect the outcome of the presidential ellection and local & state. The constituition covers homeless people, but they had to register as a homeless person in the prescribed time before the election. Plus, the displaced people aren't homeless( even if there home is gone), That's not meant to sound funny or perjorative. How many registered voters can't get to there polling site?

I wonder if the President could issue an Executive order to extend the election. This situation has never occured before. Hmm another mess Sandy has gotten us into.

For those states affected, however this election is determined, will be subject to challenge as the Florida fiasco of the hanging chads.

Sent a note to the whitehouse----sassy

sas - I've had thyroid problems since the onset of puberty.  My endocrinologist has taken me on as case study - been through every stage of life and thyroid ups and downs - from pre-puberty, puberty, pregnancy, pregnancy loss, post pardum, peri-menopause, BC and chemo, and now post menopause.  With each phase my thyroid has gone all whacky and it takes 3 months to straighten it out.  Right now, I'm just in the whacky phase.  It's something I'm sort of used to, but that doesn't change the exhaustion when it's in it's freaky mode.  Just one more stupid thing to deal with really.

On a positive note - this awesome time change has given me the opportunity to wake up at 4am instead of 5am - thank you internal clock.  Ha!  Trying to be joyful about getting an extra hour in my day.  Not sure I'm succeeding!

    In your Pocket Veggy

Hello Adey Hear you have a great sense of humor!. we need lots of laughs, bring them on.

Mama----does your doc have any Hypothesis yet as to why your thyroid goes whacky(great medical term). Yes using you as a case study could lend a great deal of info to science. What's his take on the pituitary involvement? The chicken and the egg? Is the pituitary releasing too much / too little TSH when thyroid is whacko or does the thyroid release/ stop thyroxin on it's own.  There seems to be so many that have had chemo that have had thyroid complaints. Is the thyroid gland , the only endocrine gland involved? Any family hx.? Can you tell when it's starting to go wacko? can you tell when it's returning to normal? Does it go hyperthyroid and hypothyroid(redundant from above Sorry).  You are a conundrum!

Dunes hope things are steeling down. Don't forget to update your intention.

To help with such concerns, Cuomo signed an order Monday allowing affidavit voting. Basically, what that means is that voters registered in a federally declared disaster county can vote at any poll site in the state by signing an affidavit.

"We want everyone to vote. Just because you're displaced doesn't mean you should be disenfranchised," the governor said.

Voters in some New York counties may get an extra day to cast ballots if disruptions caused by Sandy prevent enough citizens from voting, a state official said Sunday. New Jersey announced that residents displaced by Sandy can vote in Tuesday's elections via e-mail or fax, the first time civilians in the state have been allowed to vote remotely.

Well there is so provision for their voting.

Has anyone seen my big girl underwear?

The "Welcome to Chemo Land" went pretty good. I put y head down and  started laughing when the nurse started talking about losing your hair. She pulled out the tissues and thought I was crying which made me laugh more. Se went through all the drugs they will be using on me and then asked if I had any questions. I had my notebook with me. I cheated and read through some of the threads here and based my questions on that. She said that my questions made her think that she was talking  to another nurse. That made me feel good.

I got the tour of the chemo room. Looks like a romper room. Its painted yellow with brightly colored flowers. It kinda reminded me of a day care for kiddies. I want a window seat. Anyway I looked at the patients and it looks like I am the youngest one there so far. I asked if there was wifi and they do have it but its broke. Hopefully they will fix it by tomorrow or they will be he!!.

This would normally make me upset and cry but I am laughing over it. I'm weird. I have a friend that when I call she always says, "Aren't you dead yet?" I came back with, "That's not funny today" and proceeded to tell her about being stage 4. She apologized and felt really bad. I said that's why I love her so. I don't expect sympathy from her...maybe a moment and then I expect her to be nasty. Now she has the job of telling my best friend that lives near her the news. I was her matron of honor in her (BF's) wedding. The best man just died a month ago.

I'm just blabbering on and on. Now if anyone sees my big girl underwear, please ship it overnight.

    Hugs to everyone.

Veggy, I still don't have much to say, except that you have my best wishes. I'll join the pocket party, but I'll have to try to keep my mouth shut. I didn't go through what you are going through. I refused it. It was the only right decision for me, and I get scared. Those of us who choose no chemo and rads don't get much support. People think we don't care about our lives, but we care every bit as much. We just choose a different path. So, I have not personally experienced the ickiness of chemo. My heart just goes out to you with every bit of compassion in me. Do whatever you can to keep your spirits up, and let us know how we can help.

To all, what ever our choices, outcome is unknown, will never be known until it is done. We each choose, thinking it is right. We then go forward---hoping our choice was right. No matters what happens, our choice was right for us at the time.

I agree with Sas. Everyone has to choose what is right for them. I have no guarantee what chemo will accomplish. I tell my friends to pray that I can keep a sense of humor to get me through this. I have to remember to ask for help. And lots of hugs, no handshakes... they spread germs.

Hopefully tomorrow if I have wifi at the center I'll be posting.

No pink big girl panties. They can have flowers, polka dots, butterflies or leopard print on them.
