    Hi Everyone,

Cold and windy here ... I've been out raking up branches and acorns.  What a mess!  I miss the temps in San Diego.  It was 82 degrees on Sunday when we spent the day at the beach.

Enjoyful ... I sure hope you're resting.  I wish we could get the biopsy results back sooner.  It's hard to wait that long.  How are you feeling?

Alexandria ... Good luck tomorrow.  I'm a few months past due for my colonoscopy.  My surgeon left the practice and I've just been too lazy about meeting the new guy and getting the procedure scheduled.  So sorry to hear you are without power.

Ducky ... Sorry to hear you are without power.  I hope you aren't too cold up there ... and I hope your NJ house is okay.

Pip ... Thanks for sharing the wedding photos.  You look fabulous ... I love your dress!

I need to get back to work ... hope everyone is having a good day.

    Bren

For those who would rather not click on links, here is an exc erpt to Sun's link:

The ads, which are being run on TV and on the radio, state that Chrysler and GM are shipping their jeep production overseas. A GM spokesman responded Tuesday with an unusually sharp rebuke, saying Romney has "clearly entered some parallel universe" and that it reflects "campaign politics at its cynical worst." Similarly, a Chrysler spokesman said there was "no validity" to the ad. Instead, the spokesman said, the company is looking to open new factories in China to meet increasing demand there, a move that would not involve outsourcing American jobs.

Biden's comments on Wednesday marked the first time he's addressed the matter. He said he's never heard of a corporation wading into a election in the final hours of a campaign to give a description of what a presidential candidate is doing. But he said GM's response was right on the money.

"That's the best description I've ever heard of the Romney/Ryan ticket," Biden said.

The vice president said the ad calls into question something even greater about Romney: his character. He asked people to consider who they trust more in this election.

Romney has amanged the impossible. He has alienated blue and white collar workers. And swing state voters.

Belinda and Linda - love your cartoons!

E, glad to hear you are remaining at rest. You know you don't want me to come there and make you rest with The Laser Glare and The Awful Voice!

Here is a good piece from today's Atlantic feed on income inequality and Hurricane Sandy. In a nutshell, the rich could protect themselves and their families -- the poor had to work and their families fended for themselves. Heart-twisting.

Sunflowers, yes, there was a uilleann piper.  He was on the 2nd floor as we all descended the staircase.  The music sounded like it was just floating through the air.  Lovely effect.

Sorry, I am going on so about this wedding.  We did have Boston relatives there and they departed after breakfast on Sunday to beat the storm home.  Also some guests from Nova Scotia, but it seems Ontario was hit harder than they were.

E, fingers are still crossed for boring pathology.  Yawn.

No neck brace...just hoping for quick healing! As long as blood isn't spraying out I should be okay!

Obama has to do much more in his second term to help reduce the shocking inequality. I think the Atlantic piece only touches the surface. Think of all the homeless people (maids and butlers have jobs) or the ones who live with rats in their apartments. Imagine how much dirtier it will get for them. They are in great danger of contracting deadly illnesses now. Storms can bring catastrophic sanitation and public health problems in densely populated areas.

We need a return to Reagan-era tox codes.

The above statement is considered liberal in this day and age.

    Shocking, isn't it?

Interesting, Americans killed by storm, thousands effected, Romney loading 1 flat of water for photo op...and they are ignoring it all.  So desperate to find a conspiracy in Benghazi.

I am thinking that Trump HAS to give the 5 million dollars that he offered to Pres Obama to the victims of the storm.  How can he not without looking like more of an a$$ than he already does?

He might not be able to afford the money, Pip. Trump has often boasted of being far richer than he is. He mostly sells his name to new developments, but makes people believe he built them. He has been trying for YEARS to get back on Forbes list of richest people, but the journalists at Forbes won't be fooled.

    The Donald makes me LOL.

I don't think that The Donald worries about looking like an ass. He goes out of his way to do so.

I am waiting for Romney to announce his significant donation to Red Cross. Any time now....

From The Atlantic, a partial history of The Donald's "me-too-ism" Trust Politico to buy into his fabrications:

    • March 2005: Just after the first season of The Apprentice, Forbes put Trump's worth $2.6 billion, ranking him in a 15-way tie for 228th richest person in the world.
    • October 2005: Timothy O'Brien's book TrumpNation charges that Trump is worth just $150 million to $250 million. Trump sued for defamation, and lost.
    • 2005: Documents from the defamation suit revealed that as it was underwriting a $640 million loan to Trump to build in Chicago, Deutsche Bank estimated Trump's evaluated his net worth was $788 million. Trump disputed the number.
    • December 2007: In a deposition for the suit against O'Brien, Trump that the number was more than $4 billion, and that was "a very conservative number." Accounting for brand value, he thought $6 billion was a good estimate.
    • March 2009: Forbes ranks Trump in an 18-way tie for 450th richest person in the world, with $1.6 billion.
    • September 2010: Forbes estimates Trump is worth $2.4 billion on its Forbes 400 list, putting him in six-way tie for 153rd richest person in America.
    • March 2011: "What's the difference between Donald Trump's hair and a wet raccoon? A wet raccoon doesn't have seven billion fucking dollars in the bank." -- Donald Trump at his Comedy Central roast.
    • April 2011: "If and when Donald Trump announces his decision to run for the office of the presidency, he will be filing financial disclosure statements that will show his net worth is in excess of $7 billion with more than $250 million of cash, and very little debt. He is very, very liquid, said a source with knowledge of Trump's financial holdings" -- Politico

    More here: http://www.theatlanticwire.com/politics/2011/04/weve-been-trying-figure-out-how-much-trump-worth-20-years/36908/

Maybe he does have the $5 million. Or maybe the money is tied up in non-liquid assets that are heavily mortgaged. Who knows.

E - I think he donated tin cans. The Red Cross usually prefers donations of money, though. Supplies are more of a hassle than a help. But they make for a better photo-op.

Geez.  No matter how 'poor' Trump is, 5 million for the Sandy victims would be like me giving a penny.

Does Romney still have stock in Staples?  Staples Canada?  A Toronto woman was killed when the storm ripped off part of a Staples sign and hit her in the head.  Seemed like a freak accident.  However, area residents have constantly complained about the sign being unstable for 5 years.  Hmmmm.  I smell a huge lawsuit.

I think he sold his stock in Staples weeks after testifying in divorce court that the stock was useless. (This helped his buddy avoid paying money to his soon to be ex wife.)

And of course, he made a huge profit on the sale.

Robme can't even have an honest relief collection event. Turns out that staff from his campaign made a run to a WalMart near the Kettering, Ohio rally to have enough donations to stage a photo op. They stacked up the donations and if people didn't bring anything, the campaign handed them something to give to Robme for the photo op. How pathetic is that?

Here is an article about it from the Atlantic, but there are others around:

Ann, alexandria and ducky ... hope you get your power back sooner than expected!  Or today ... today would be good.

Linda ... nice to hear of groups gathering to do what they can.  Good for those kids and you too!  Do you know of any local organizations doing good things that could use a donation?

Bren ... glad you finally made it home.  Sounds like the trip was not easy.  Boo for having to leave grandkids and 80 degree temps to come home to sleet and wind.

Pip ... the wedding sounds fantastic.  Thanks for the pictures sharing some of it with us.  Beautiful setting ... lovely people!

Mitt's little 'event' was so transparent I have to wonder why he even bothered to fake it.  Whatever ... the man is an empty vessel.  I don't think I would be horribly surprised if he peeled off a mask someday and revealed himself as an lizard alien trying to pass for human.

Chickadee and Kam ... thanks for the inside information about FEMA and disaster relief.  It's so nice to come here and learn about what really goes on instead of listening to yapping heads on TV make it up as they go along.

Enjoyful ... did you get your drains out yet?

    Romney is where?

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/oct/31/romney-fema-florida-poll-slide

"He played to the crowd in a part of the country where Hispanic voters could decide the issue with a promise to boost trade with Latin America, saying it's economy is a big as China's and that it doesn't cheat as much.

He also dwelled on Florida's role in the space programme with a lengthy story about the scouts and a flag on the space shuttle Challenger when it blew up. The flag survived. The crowd was won over. But, after his earlier denunciations of federal spending, Romney managed not to mention that the space programme is government funded."

Pip - fabulous wedding pictures, loved your dress, loved the men in kilts (my mother was born in Glasgow!)

Kam - didn't know you hailed from Montreal - my hometown.

Ducky - hate that you're without electricity and all that goes with it - keeping a good thought for the Cape May house and you too.

E - of course you're restingWinkdo you actually know what "resting" is???

Lindasa - you've kept me laughing for the last week with the cartoons - thank you for that.

Sunflowers - we've already had Sandy thank you very much, we started out with the front that crashed into her last Thursday and it has rained day and night since then - non-stop where I am - it is raining right now and is going to rain until sometime on Friday - yes, my feet are already webbed - I cannot begin to tell you how wonderful the winds were here on Monday night - not fun on the 14th floor of a high-rise - we only lost power for two minutes though so we were the lucky ones - nothing anything like those poor folks in New Jersey, New York, Ct etc.

Pip - gorgeoous photos. Lovely tradition for a wedding.

Hurricane Sandy is a national disaster and can only be handled at a national level, just how disasters are handled here. Romney is a fool.

Day off today to go and see the breast surgeon and get the official MRI results.

Yeah ... he'd probably give FEMA $50 ... and put Brownie back in charge.

As a kid who grew up knowing that telling a lie would get me in twice as much trouble as anything else I might have done it blows me away how this guy can just lie about anything and everything without a second thought!

Ewwww. I totally despise Santorum's positions on just about everything. But at least he wasn't a lying, hypocritical flip flopper like Mittens. That guy has ZERO principles and this should be a big wake-up call to any who are still undecided.

Edited to add, I'm talking about Robme's latest flip flop on FEMA.
