Amazing that Mittens won't go on any shows or even answer reporters' questions. He knows perfectly what those questions would be. Coward!
-
No electricity, hot water, or heat. Been out for 2days. Maybe back on late tomorrow night. Have no info about my shore home in Cape MayNJ. Hoping for the best. This was devastating.
-
Oh ducky! I'm so sorry!
-
Ducky, I know we're all pulling for you, sweetie, hoping power is restored soon and Cape May home is still standing. Let us know.
-
You just had to ask.

Many kilts in attendance. Very sexy! Ceremony took place on the staircase at a private club. All very exquisit yet simple at the same time.
Please note, no foobs of any kind were worn!!! Yah!

-
Lol, I just love the new meme: Chris Christie and his BFF President Obama!

Hope all are well on the East Coast!!
-
Pip, You all look great!
-
Men in kilts! The huge amount of "mc" (via Montreal) in me loves it. That's you in the bottom pic?
-
Pip, awesome pics! I also love kilts. We went to Scotland a few years ago and saw many performances with them.
-
Pip -
Absolutely gorgeous pics! I do love men in kilts. *sigh* -
Gorgeous, PiP. And men in kilts -- a special bonus!
p.s. looks like the York Club

-
Yes. The bottom pic is of my 2 sons and my dh. Very proud parents.
Thank you for your very 'generous' comments.

Here is one of my favourite moments. Walking all the kilted guys down a main street in Toronto toward the venue. Lots of people smiling and asking questions. One Scottish couple were quite taken with the parade.

-
Linda, you 'may' be right.
Are you familiar with the place? -
Yes! And a lovely venue for a wedding.
-
E -any biopsy news yet?
-
Nothing yet. I saw my surgeon at the ER yesterday and he said everyone's backed up because of the storm. It may be Friday or next week before I hear anything.
-
Linda, then, as you know, the food is amazing and the service is impecible. Her family has been connected to the club since it's inception. We were just fortunate recipients of their wedding plans. The staff really seemed to enjoy the 'less than formal' partying that took place that evening!

-
Wow, PiP, what handsome men you have to complement your beautiful smile! Such a very handsome family you are, and you all look so wonderfully happy! So glad you shared, and delighted to hear it went off without a hitch!

Pip, I love, love, love the kilts!
I've also texted with AnnNYC and she was fine yesterday . . . though surely at some point she's going to go stir crazy, and who could blame her.
Ducky, so glad you checked in -- I hope your power gets restored quickly, and that "tomorrow night" business is just a matter of underpromising so they can overdeliver. Fingers crossed, knock on wood, etc. Good thoughts also going out for your Cape May house.
A quick report from Red Hook, mainly in the form of a shout-out to the Occupy kids, who are truly amazing. They're working with a neighborhood organization there, so we were able to use its facility, which has a teeny tiny kitchen - I swear it was smaller than our apartment kitchen, and that's pretty small. There were lots of other goodhearted but essentially clueless volunteers there or trickling in when we arrived, and a couple of the more experienced folks quickly turned us into an effective kitchen crew. The random piles of donated food were organized into specific menu items (there was a chili pile, a tuna salad pile, a corn and black bean salsa pile, etc.) and people went to work mixing and chopping and assembling sandwiches. All of this without a single barked order, just polite suggestions and encouragement to step up and take responsibility. (For example, asking a question like, "what are we supposed to do with the trash?" would get an answer like, "would you like to organize that?") Seriously, people who pay big bucks for "leadership seminars" could learn a lot from hanging out with these kids. It was inspiring.

PIP - glorious -you look so, so, so good! Thanks for sharing the pics - I used to live in "Edinburrrrra" so I appreciate the kilts - were there bagpipes?????
I am starting to get SO happy about the State polls....gotta contain my enthusiasm til after 11/6. Notice Chuck Todd is off the rails with his "polls" and comments - yikes, the tv people are even more desperate for a "story" than the electronic media - they gotta fill air time, get most of my news online or NPR now.
You'd think the devastation would keep the TV people busy, but kinda like sharks, ya just gotta keep feeding'em. Maybe they could spend the time showing how all the FEMA people are making a difference..
-
Fingers crossed, then.
Pip - what a gorgeous wedding.
This time next week, Mittens is going to be eating his heart - and conservatives will spin more lies. Maybe they should form their own republic. Rush the Fascist Pig will be crying foul.
No drive-bys, please. We commie pinkos just get richer. Deletions will cement the democratic party's suzerainity for generations, goats and materputrids.
-
I used to use "suzerain" as a User name though I've never seen it used in a sentence before!
-
Ducky, glad to hear you're safe but so sorry to hear about no power -- and the uncertainty about your beach house. Fingers crossed that it will be OK. Alexandria/sandy, relieved that you checked it ... And sorry you have to do colonoscopy prep during a power outage! At least it is keeping you "busy" ....
E, YOU ARE RESTING, *AREN'T YOU???!!!!!!*
Power is out in various spots around Northern Virginia, but my immediate neighborhood is still OK. Further afield they are out of power, but seem to be few trees down. I think the derecho knocked down all the weaker ones this summer.
Keep safe, all.
L -
I am NOT MOVING, Libby. You know it's a natural state for us liberals. ;-)
-
ducky - I hope you are warm enough. No light, no power - bad. Being cold - the worst!
-
During Hurricane Ike, FEMA engaged a trial period with Americorp. This is an organization that employs young adults to live spartanly during the year and work on various projects. Dozens of college age kids performed all sorts of functions from data entry to working on the front lines passing out needed supplies.
This endeavor is now being folded into FEMA as FEMACORP. They are already being redeployed from Louisiana to the New York area.

Hahaha!!
Sorry about your situation, Ducky.
Never have had a colonoscopy, still old fashioned and prudish about topic.
-
Enjoyful - LOL.....stay in your "natural state" or HL will be vurry angry..wouldn't want THAT to happen

Speaking of angry, ya just gotta LOVE, I mean really LOVE Uncle Joe - he has got our backs, truly. Get ready for this one:

Was happy to hear Gov. Christi say....this is not the time for politics....he said.....I was asked a question and when asked answered honestly.....Obama's response to this regarding my conversations with him have been "fantastic"..glad to hear that response.
-
