Calling all TNs

Re ovarian risk, there is recent evidence that the most deadly forms of OC begin in the fallopian tubes (not ovaries): http://www.pnas.org/content/109/10/3921.full   So for those doing scans in the interest of early detection, it'd be important to make sure that area is covered too.

Titan - I like to think it was LJ too. So glad you were able to get away and enjoy yourself.

My girlfriend has had 3 liver biopsies - she says it's not as bad as I think.

Titan have you been on the wine again, butterflys smiling at you lol.  And what are you doing frying in the sun you know about melanoma, of course.

I might get my old fellar one of these to keep him warm!!

 

  

Today was day 6 of rads and i've been sick since yesterday.  Nausea and vomiting.  They tell me it's not a SE??  I don't know what to think.  I just know that i got very sick with chemo, had horrible SE's and had to have home health nurses come every other weekend for hydration.  

Did anyone else experience nausea with rads?  

Titan - I have enough yarn just tell me how many inches your old fellar would need!!!  And don't lie!.

On the wine Laura Jane would probably have fluttered down and helped you sip it.  

Taz - that was very good never thought of that when I typed it but very apt lol.   

Sugar - good idea your old fellar (that's if he is an old fellar,. all the better if he isn't) will appreciate you putting it on when you have finished it!

Tammy sounds like you may be allergic to some of the treatment.  Might pay to run it by your oncologist.  I feel so sorry for you I hate nausea and vomiting.  Could you be nervous about the treatment (just a thought).  A friend of mine was a very capable girl and could do any job assigned to her but whenever she went for an interview she would get diarrhoea and sickness all night every time.    I asked my oncologist about nausea side effects before I had rads and she said no none.  Hope you manage to get it sorted.

Loretta - I wish had awakened from surgery and been taken to my car! Make sure someone stays with you, hospitals seem to be self serve this days and one must bring along a personal handmaiden.



Tammy - so sorry you are having such a difficult go! Do you have any phenagren? Sometimes having a small fan to blow in your face can make you feel better. I hope it goes awY soon.



Annie - love your silly sock!

A farmer is sitting in the neighborhood bar getting soused. A man comes in and asks the farmer, "Hey, why are you sitting here on this beautiful day getting drunk?"
"Some things you just can't explain," the farmer replies.
"So what happened that is so horrible?" the man inquires.
"Well if you must know, today I was sitting by my cow milking her," the farmer begins. "Just as I got the bucket about full, she took her left leg and kicked it over."
"That's not so bad, what's the big deal?" the man asks.
"Some things you just can't explain," the farmer says.
"So then what happened?" the man asks.
"I took her left leg and tied it to the post on the left with some rope," the farmer continues. "Then I sat down and continued to milk her. Just as I got the bucket about full she took her right leg and kicked it over."
"Again?" the man asks.
"Something's ya just can't explain," the farmer repeats.
"So, what did you do then?" the man asks.
"I took her right leg and tied it to the post on the right," the farmer explains.
"So then what did you do?" the man asks.
"I sat back down and continued to milk her, and just as I got the bucket just about full, the stupid cow knocks over the bucket with her tail," the farmer says.
"Wow you must have been pretty upset!" the man says.
"Some things you just can't explain," the farmer says again.
"So then what did you do?" the man asks.
"Well I didn't have any more rope, so I took off my belt and tied her tail to the rafter," the farmer says. "In that moment, my pants fell down and my wife walked in. Like I said, some things you just can't explain."

CS - you are funny and too kind...I'm actually 48. Yes, I married a younger man and he'd be mortified if he knew I was talking about crocheting something like this .

bowerl:  Just curious...is the bmx your first breast surgery, or did you have a lumpectomy first, then chemo?  I had a partial mastectomy in Feb., had 4 rounds of chemo, tested positive for BRCA1 mutation in July and am now looking at a bmx in February 2013 with implants.  As a side note, I am waiting until Feb. 2013 because I used my 12 weeks of FMLA job protection as I was unable to work through most of my chemo.  My FMLA doesn't start again until Feb. next year.  Needless to say, I don't trust my employer.  In fact, the oncologist who I used for a second opinion has had patients who have been "laid off" because they took personal leave after their FMLA expired (same employer). 

lm50- yes this will be my first surgery.  I choose to do chemo first because I wanted to be able to see if it was working and I had others recommend that I go into chemo as strong as possible.  My tumor measured 1.9 cm when I first found it and you had to look for it.  By the time I started chemo you could see it protruding out of my chest and now the doctors cain't even find it by feel.  So hopefully when they go in they will not find any thing.  Regardless my bc wants to take the bad one and I want them both to go.  Sorry you had to use all your time up with chemo.  I have been lucky and I will only miss 7 days of work with chemo.  I take the day of and the day after.  I have not used any fmla but I will with the surgery.  But hopefully not all of it, the doc says I should be out 6-8 weeks and I work at a school so we will have winter break in there as well.  Oh and I did have the genic testing done and it came back negative.  

Tammie,I had nausea with my rads,also! Lasted for about 2 wks!

Lovely - she may still be hungover from her beach trip! I hope she had a great time. Dawn, we'd love to know how you are these days...post when you can.
