Hi everyone,

my mother has been diaganosed with IDC on 18th septmeber, she had her surgery and after her biopsy report, it says she has IDC, 5.1 cm tumor, Grade 3, ER 80-90% +ve /PR 50-60% +ve and Her2nue 2+(waiting for FISH result). Also it says very annoying thing. i.e.: "1 out of 18 lymp nodes +ve for metastatic carcinoma with extra capsular spread". (this is annoying me) like is the cancer type metastatic? what is it? does this effect cancer stage? Someone told me its Stage 3A... is it ok?

Kindly guide me as i am too worried about her.

Thanks.

Hi Lady Pak, looks like your mom has been diagnosed and had a unilateral mastectomy, just like my mom did in 2011.  Your Onc will give you the Stage and a treatment plan when you see him as a followup to the surgery. That may include chemo, radiation, and/or post surgery medications.

Meanwhile, one of the best resources that I found with the help of this forum is the NCCN guidelines at:

    www.nccn.org

Click on NCCN Guidelines at the top and then select NCCN Guidelines for Treatment of Cancer by Site, then select Breast Cancer, then select NCCN Guidelines (it's a PDF file).

You will have to set up a login name and password to be able to open the PDF file, and you will need your mom's pathology report to work your way through the slides to get to where her particular type of cancer is.

Good luck as you go through the process -- your mom is so lucky to have you to help her.  Mine is NED after a year, so she is doing well and I am hopeful that your mom will have the same outcome.
