how about drinking?

Good morning, Loungettes! I had a wonderful sleep in, and am looking forward to a day puttering around the house. Maybe even taking a walk with Sadie later. Maybe.

Goldie--Don't hesitate to offer advice, I can do really well for everyone but myself! I've got an appointment for blood work next month, will ask if thyroid is on the list. It was last time and it was normal, but it can't hurt to check again. And I think some NO PUTERS time is a good thing! Enjoy!

Welcome, Adey! Do you have your AARP card yet? It is amazing how many places have discounts when you have an AARP card!
Cammy-=-I love Halloween decorations, too, went into the local Wally World to look at them, found them all taken down and CHRISTMAS decorations going up! WTF???????
Raku--There's been lots of MaryJane fumes here in the lounge, what's the code word for that here???? I forget. Oh, yeah, Willy. Every thread here on the boards has it's own personality, it pays to lurk a while before posting. Sometimes it takes a bit of searching to find a thread that matches your personal beliefs and practices.
DorKable--remember how I got sucked in thinking that Stella was a real person you worked with? If it wasn't so funny (and I wasn't so drunk) I'd've been embarrassed!
Raku--HTL stands for Hot Tattie Lounge, the name of our dwinking (drinking) spot. It's a totally imaginary, absolutely wonderful place. So what is Raku? Sounds like some sort of pottery technigue, but I can't figure out how you'd get wall hangings out of that! Not sure about the drink names, but I'll see what I can find out.
Wahine--I hates it when the post gremlin gets one of us! Such a pain in the anatomy when that happens! Grapefruit affects one of the enzyme pathways in the liver that the liver uses to metabolize toxins (aka, medications). In the case of tamoxifen and certiain heart medications grapefruit interferes with the metabolism, so the active form is never made in enough volume to do any good. Tamoxifin and many heart drugs are actually "pro-drugs" meaning that the form in the pill doesn't do anything, the liver has to metabolize it into an active form for the drug to do any good. Tamoxifen is inert in the body, but the liver metabolizes it to endoxifen witch binds with estrogen receptors and turns them off (estrogen binds with the receptors and turns them on).
Cammy--to put your stripper name on the bottom of your post here's what you do.
1. Go to the top of the page, the very top, and click on "My Profile"
2. At the top of this new page click on "settings"
3. Scroll down to the "signature:" item. It's almost at the very bottom, it is just above the grey box labeled "Diagnoses"
4. Click on "edit"
5. Type in your stripper name, or whatever you want to show up as your signature. Remember, this will show up as your signature for EVERY post in EVERY thread you post in.
6. Click on Save.
I think this will work, if not, my apologies.
Mema--while I understand the first thought at hearing about an enlarged node is "mets" remember that lymph nodes enlarge whenever they are helping to control and infection, inflammation, or other bodily injury. The axillary nodes collect drainage from the chest, back, neck and head area. I've gotten enlarged axilary nodes from a sinus infection before.

Juliet--when another one of us develops a reaction to a hospital cleaner or other chemical I always wonder what is happening to all the patients stuck in the rooms and beds getting exposed to that stuff over and over again when they are already sick. . . .
CynCyn--the most common form of allergic reaction is an acquired one. The body starts responding more and more strongly to a substance that it is exposed to over and over again. Most people who are allergic to bees, for instance, did not react the first time they were stung. Latex allergy almost always comes from repeated exposure. Hospitals stopped using latex not because of patient safety, but because of the cost of providing nurses and other workers who developed allergies to it over time with cotton gloves to wear under latex gloves, and the cost of treating serious reactions when an employee got the wrong kind of gloves. It was cheaper in the long run to switch overt to non-latex gloves, and remove the powder in the gloves. It was the powder that was puffed into the air and then inhaled whenever the gloves were put on that was the major culprit.

See, I envy you for the fall weather and crisp air. I miss the pretty leaves too...and nothing feels more comforting than hot apple cider with a shot of schnapps and a cinnamon stick...yummm
-
NM.....about the grapfruit deal...the only med Im on that mentions not consuming it in excess is my lovistatin (sp) for choloesterol....should I not consume it on Tammy either? I checked the bottle and it doesnt say not to...
-
NM - u r jes so incredibly smart. Had to LOL about getting sucked into the Stella thing...haha. I really not too worried about the node for jes the reasons you mentioned. Thank you! And Thank you too for the DOTD. I've printed it and will add to the others. :-) I'm gonna sleep in tamary...hope a hope a hope a hope!
Orla - It is blurry, but I get an idea of what you look like...Thank you for stickin with it and sharing. Good job WaWa!!!
Cyn - I hadn't heard about grapefruit either...but it doesn't like me (GERD) so I stay away from it. It sounds kinda like what taking some gerd meds do...slow or inhibited the absorbtion of other meds. Cept I don't kno what roll the liver plays with the gerd meds if any.
OK...off on my errands...bbl...MUAH!

All my pics are small camera phone shots etc and have people in it that I do not want to post everyone is so quite today
-
Thats fine Lara! I feel that sometimes too....sometimes I post my pic and other times I am very against it. A higher resolution does give a clearer image, but so many of mine from my camera are over 1MB, so VERY huge and if I post them here in that format it would take almost an entire page! So I can resize them, down. But I couldn't do that on yours, as if you resize UP then it just blurs.
Hiya NM.....always LUB your posts, as you include everyone! And spend SO much time finding the right pics and saying jest the right things! Yup.... MERRY THANKSGIVOWEEN..prolly really coming to that. Unreal that you couldn't find Halloween decs there, but they had Christmas. Sheesh!!! They need to dwink.
Lub all of youse...mese tinks mese heard a little birdie mention PARTAY in de lounge tonight!!! Shhhh.....its only for all of us loungettes in the HTL....and we can get drunk as a skunk....the Tenders and Wenches will take care of us....don't even have to drive home. yippeeeeee!!!!
Hugssssss,
kath

Actually, I goofed earlier. TAmoxifen and grapefruit juice get along fine. Tamoxifen and statins to lower cholesterol do not play well together. The combo causes and increased risk of liver and muscle damage. Sorry for the misinfo. I must remember to double check my memory before writing things!
-
So ..being on Tamoxifin and Statins isnt good? But I can eat grapefruit?? LOL...just butstin your chopps there NM....Im sure my onc wouldnt have put me on it or would have taken me off the statin if it was going to hurt me...well, would he have??? Or is this some evil scheme to make more money on my health woe's?? Its all becoming clear....the first time I saw him I was only iron deficient...so he said to take iron...the next time I saw him I had cancer...hmmm.....will the next time be liver failure??? Are you seeing a pattern here?

Principal ends up red-faced in flap over sixth-grader's pink mohawk
16 hrs agoCynthia Frost seems to be picking the wrong battles. The principal at Clifty Creek Elementary School in Columbus, Ind., told Trevor Foster he couldn't try out for the basketball team until he lost the pink mohawk he wore to support his mother, who is receiving treatment for breast cancer. A Facebook campaign and pushback from the school board prompted Frost to relent and apologize, including asking Trevor to help organize a school fundraiser for breast cancer research. Trevor said it helped, but this reportedly isn't the first time she's targeted the 11-year-old student. Last year, she had him give up his "I Love Boobies" bracelet and turn a pink shirt inside out, said Trevor's dad, Tamage Foster. [Source]
