Shayne, I am with you on that one.  Had one bad set of pokes...4 tries to get a setup for one of the early pre-treatment tests...not sure what one but I remember my arm was black and blue before he finished!  I called the hospital and complained but...then again, "young-male-dark-haired nurses" at that hospital, do not get to poke me even once!

not taking any chances there as would not be able to ID the nurse!

went for a pet scan 3 days ago and i am bilat LE.  So asked em to please do my foot.  She made a big deal about it asked the super who said call the doc who said yes do it in her foot.  The tech had never done one so found someone who had and she tried on the top of the foot....no success after 10 mins of shoving the damn thing up the vein.  Then she tried on the inside of the ankle and no success there either after 10 mins.  By this time I am more aggravated and frustrated from what BC has done to me with the LE crap that I am crying...probably from starvation too... that she says she is done and someone else has to do it.  So the super comes out and tries the other foot...again 10 more minutes of torture unsuccessful so i rip off my sleeve in the arm with the minimal LE and said just do my arm I cannot take anymore.  So they said only if it is ok with you.  I knew that I was not going through the day before starve and day of deprivation again so i said just do it...i want to be done.  It was already after 1pm.  Even the hand was a little bit of a problem but not near as painful as the foot agony!!

Picked up the report today and have an appt next tuesday with my Onc...really should not read these things ourselves.  it says there is a small nodule on the left lung but no evidence of metastasis.  of course all I am seeing is nodule on lung part and just am freaking out.  It is going to be a long weekend for me...i see some sleeping pills in my  very near future

not sure in your area, but in NJ there is a nursing school mill.....where they go for 2 year degrees, and at the end, they all work in a docs office....for almost free

guess what they do? BLOOD draws!

I know this as my cleaning person has a 2 year degree from one of the "mills" and works also for a doc for $10 an hour

actually, I would let her do my blood draw but you might want to ask the "nurse" what there skill training is

Hello Barbe - I pinned my MO down when he called last night. I asked him why all of my med paperwork had mets as the diagnosis before the bx. He told me that I have mets to lungs - he told me that often bx are not done if CT scans are definitive. He advised me that he wants a path report as he is hoping my six lung tumors are not triple neg as my primary tumor was. I asked him one more time - "Do I have mets to the lungs" - he stated that I do. I was so surprised that he would commit to the dx before the bx. What a confusing journey we are one.

Oh my goodness  Thanks to each and every one of you for your love and support. I just read some posts on previous pages, in-between-coloring with my 5 yr. old granddaughter. I will sign off for now, as we are having "Girl's Nite at Gramma's" - choc. ice cream and coloring - Yea.

Reality - so sorry for your ordeal. Sounds like the rad. Has a big ego. I agree if he knew it was mets prior why don't they say so and then to have to subject you to so many biopsy attempts and subsequent pain. This journey certainly makes us stronger and as you say less tolerant at the same time.

When I had my rotator cuff surgery a few weeks ago, worker's comp. wanted it done at the cheaper surgery center in town and I told them no deal, either do it at the large hospital where I work (and fell) or no surgery! This is my second surgery there in 6 weeks 8th in past 3 years and each time the IV stuff gets worse. I have done phlebotomy for over 40 years so know my veins are crap. First they have the whole discussion of using my arms due to the BMX and I have to assure them no lymph node involvement then since surgery on right arm only have left to use and the vancomycin has really eaten the veins as well. This time they tried 3 times to get IV in and I finally told them use my foot and finally they brought person in who got it in the hand on the 4th try. At least the anesthesiologist had no trouble with the arm block and got it right away.



I am so sick of everything as all of you are. Now I am having huge floaters in my eye and random light flashes - soo scarred that it might be beginning if retinal detachment. I really think I can't handle that along with no use of my right arm for the next how many months. I know I shouldn't complain with those of you with much worse diagnoses so I will send my prayers to all and hope for better times ahead.

Delila please don't apologize for anything u have every right to complain, vent, rant and whsyever u want. We're all in a mess ans we all know and understand.  How about this

My best friend has totally put her foot in it.

I have spinal compression, I cant walk, am catheterised and try to manage my bowels. Not easy when there are no feeling from the below the breasts down.

Anyway she recons I'm not that badly off, when I get benifets for being disabled I'll be able to retire.

That I'm no worse of than she is - after all she might have a heart attack, get run over by a bus or have a stroke.

Then went on to tell me if I had lost weigh after having the first dx of breast cancer - I would'nt have got mets. 

That made me a bit mad - and asked why slim poeple got cancer and mets, seems that just bad luck 

Now my friend isnt stupid normally - But she has been told anything that may kill her can kill me - plus I know my days are numbered.

By the way I'm 64 and would love tp be able to retire- onc says there is no reason why I can work from a wheelchair , so i plan to return in November. 

Harvey I'm so sorry what u've been going thru, it s horrendous and how could anyone say that to you. It must have hurt so much. Yes she can have a heart attack, get hit by a bus, have a stroke--but if she could do it all at one time that would be interesting.  U sound mmuch kinder than I am, but I would have said that. u are quite a woman to be able to put up with all of u'r problems, I do wish and pray the best for u.

Riley I have to say not many people get or understand me but u seem to. LOL

Oh mine are always good about it too, but then I say u have to use my leg-they stare for a minute and get the other machine for B/P or my port that's one of the reasons I kept my port.

Camille, I have used a baby needle (or butterfly as it's sometimes called) with great success but you can't use it for an injection where they need to "push" say, dye, through the vein.
