Trying hard to lose the pounds!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I'll look for Flat outs next time I go to Walmart. I love bread. I could happily go on a strict bread diet only I wouldn't loose any weight.
thanks for the anti-gas tips. My physical therapist told me to gently massage my abdomen. I thik that helps a little also.
Thanks for the cheers Kari.

You can note what things give you bubby problems. I made something with bulgar wheat last week, and I'll never do that again. I could have powered my car!
-
ROTFLMAO
Between my husband and myself we could probably power our house, except it's all electric not gas. -
Just a little pep talk for all of us - keep working!!
I went shopping for summer clothes yesterday and was in a size 14!! I haven't seen that since my son was born (he's in third grade!!) Watching what I eat all the time is a pain and gets old but wearing smaller clothes and having a healthier body makes it SO worth it.
Keep up the good work, ladies!!
I'd say I hope this "lights a fire" under us but with all the gas, that could be dangerous!! -
Kari - that's wonderful. How did your lunches go?
Buy the cutest pair of pants in that size and wear them always (until they start falling off because you've been so good). -
Rose - I bought 3!! Found some Levis that look fantastic - look as skinny as someone 11 lbs overweight can look!
Lucnhes went ok - was up 1 lb today buy I blame that on the salt on the pretzel and Pepsi. Will be good with the water this weekend and should take care of it! -
Thank the Lord that you are tall! You look thin faster.
I find that Levis are sized pretty small, if you can get into a 14 in that brand I'd bet you're close to a 12 in other brands that are cut fuller. -
Whoopee Kari!
Way to go. Looks like you are having a great result. Now as for me..........
I went for my Herceptin today and they actually gave away free candy bars at the desk. So I had to have one-to keep up my strength, you know.......
My bad.
Denise in PA -
Nah, herceptin treatment sounds like a good time for a candy bar! As long as you don't celebrate the day after treatment, two days after, three days after.....
It'll all be good - we can do this!
Rose, I'm very fortunate to be tall. I'm also pretty broad shouldered so carry wieght well. Am very glad to be carrying less! -
denise - you saved a nurse from having to eat them all.
-
Wow Rose! Thanks! I did do a good deed, then!
Gosh, we would do anything to justify a chocolate craving, huh?
Denise -

Back to the almond milk it is low in calories, you can choose unsweetened, normal and flavoered (vanilla)...
it is fortified with calcium and gives you 20% of your daily recommended allowance...
here is the site: www.bluediamond.com (remember the fat is the good kind in nuts...)
but I wouldn't order it, they charge outrageous shipping costs...
As for my two pounds...they are back...no excersise with my knee but I'll start back tomorrow.
Kari, good job loosing pounds...
I hope my PETscan is normal, I am an emotional eater anyways....tomorrow I'll know
God Bless -
180 again this week. I decided Mother's Day was no day to track points but then went in later just to see - started the day with 10 allowance points and ended with -7!!! (but the fried chicken and cheesecake were worth every point!!)
OK, new week, no holidays, will be better.
Hope everyone has a good week and you were better behaved than I was last week! (Nah, really hope you all had a great Mother's Day and saved the diet for later!!) -
Well, you could have gained so staying at 180 is a good thing!
Stick with it. I hope you went out for that fried chicken and cheesecake. I'd hate to have that sitting around the house begging me to eat it. -
I was at my sisters for the chicken but DH bought the cheesecake Saturday (now I have to confess to two pieces!) - I took the rest to mom's yesterday and left it!!!
-
All you ladies are doing so well lately. Congrats. I've had a little trouble lately. Too many occasions with lots of eating. This past weekend a Bar Mitzvah, plus parents visiting, eating out. My big challege will be this weekend. My daughter is graduating from college. That means a weekend of eating out every meal. I'm going to try to be good these next few days, but it is sooooo hard.
-
Size 14 Kari, that is great. If I could get into a size 14 I would say "DONE". Enough torture!!!
It was a big weekend and I think we all used that as an excuse to have an iffy week. I know I did.
Off to weigh in.
Susan -
Eatting out is really hard to manage.
Hope your Mom (the one who thinks you're too thin) enjoys the rest of the cheesecake! -
Kari,
We put the stress on salads when eating out. And dh can give up fries like they're poison--which it seems they are!!- but I have more trouble with that. And what's fried chicken without the skin!! (DH eliminates that poison too!!) He can be a good influence on me!
On your recent 5 pound loss--that's great. Nothing wrong with staying even for a time. I'm also jealous of your height. I'm 5'3" and that's a new height (was 5'3 and 3/4"). Another blessing of aging is that we naturally lose height even if we don't have osteopenia or osteoporosis! So even fewer calories to meet our daily requirement.
I think that was great you could leave the cheesecake at your mother's. Keep up the good work. -
Hi All:
I am 58 and was diagnosed last fall with lumpectomy and mastectomy following in Oct and Nov. I have been fortunate to get by without having chemo or rads. However, I do take Arimadex. I feel like a 90 year old with mega menapause.
I was really overweight before I started it, but it seems like the weight has piled on since I started the medication. I don't know how much is the medication and how much is my age old struggle with my weight problem. At any case I am extremley depressed, aggravated, and just plain mad at myself right now.
I realize that the weight promoted the estrogen that fed my cancer (both uterine and breast). I have got to get the lard off! It is working against my cancer and my blood pressure. Help! Sweets hound my every waking hour. Every time I get upset or stressed the first thing I do is grabb food, generally foods that are high in sugar and calories.
I don't have a lot of support from my hubby or family. I realize that I am going to have to do this for ME! With or without their support I need to do this, and do it now.
Sorry to such a downer. I will checking in from time to time and hope to report my success.
Hooby -
Hooby,
I'm on Arimidex too. Was overweight (in the obese range on the charts - yikes!) and in January had my ovaries removed to stop the estrogen. I figured if I went under the knife to get rid of one source, I could work to get rid of another.
Joined Weight Watchers first of Feb and have lost 30 lbs to date (finally saw a 7 in the middle number!!) I don't think I could have done it on my own - I like having the on-line tracker so I can see exactly what I've eaten and how much exercise I've done for the day/week.
I get some support but mostly of the good job type - not the oh, let's have a salad type! I am very proud of myself for working at this and you will be proud of yourself too when you decide to do it.
Even if you don't want to do any formal diets, I suggest journal everything you eat and go on line to see what a serving size looks like. If you are like I was, the food you eat isn't that bad, you just eat too much. Being aware of what goes in your mouth and how little it actually takes to fill you up goes a long way.
Good luck with this. It really is important to take care of ourselves. I'd hate to be the medical miracle (my goal!) as far as the BC goes only to drop dead from a heart attack!!
Kari -
Hobby - working on your diet becomes like a little hobby. I think starting off by just recording what you eat, without making an effort to change it is a good place to start.
Even salad isn't always a sure thing. When I remember I ask for the dressing on the side. Otherwise resturants pour a ton of it on and you might as well have had something else to eat. -
This months' Oprah magazine (she has a blue print dress on) has an article about recording what you eat. It says that when people start writing down everything that they eat they oftentimes come up 1,000 A DAY higher than what they'd initially estimated.
I think it's worth reading, plus there are some cute swimsuit makeovers. -
Hi KariLynn
Thanks for the encourgment. I too am on the obese side, and have tried Weight Watchers. Actually I did lose on their diet, almost 80 lbs. In fact the picture you see of me is at my lowest weight. Boy have I gained since then!
I know it works I just have to get back on the diet. I really cant afford the meeting right now, but I do have the literature (even if it is a couple of years old). Yesterday I started a diet. Mostly vegies and fruit. The things I have tried to cut down on or cut out is red meat, sweets, most breads, and those high calorie goodies. After 2 days of it I already feel better.
I also use a book called Eat Right for your Type. It is a diet based on your blood type. My husband has chrones disease, and has used it for several years. It seems pretty well balanced and can be made to fit the Weight Watchers diet also.
Forgive me if I lean on you all in the days to come. Since I can't attend the meetings your support would be much appreciated. I have a long way to go. I have gained 84 lbs since that picture was taken. It is time I get off by fat butt and get busy. Again your support and prayers would be most appreciated. Thanks for listening to me.
Hooby -
Feel free to lean. I am an on-line member and can look up anything you need, just let me know. We can do this!!!!!
Kari
PS - what part of OK are you in? I'm in SE KS, spent many weekends in Grove growing up - folks had a trailor on the lake. -
Interesting discussion. I have been struggling. I keep having "special occasions" and I stray. I guess I will keep trying. I'm not motivated. I always come to this point. Not sure how to get beyond. I eventually decide to quit rather than keep kidding myself that I am actually trying to loose weight. How do you re-motivate yourself? any suggestions?
-
I make sure that I plan for special occasions and that they only last as long as the occasion does. Eat your birthday cake (or whatever) but don't keep eating it the rest of the week.
One bad day didn't make any of us fat and one bad day won't keep us from getting healthy. Just need to make sure the bad day doesn't become two, three or a week.
I just got back from the Y, exercising and feeling yourself getting stronger is a great motivator. Plus I know how hard I just worked to earn 3 activity points (in 50 minutes) and WILL NOT eat one of the donute DH brought home today - those cost 6 points. Not worth two days effort!!!
Stick with it long enough to see some results - they will come and are another great motivator. We can do it!! -
I think it helps to think about things like donuts in those terms. Then you can make choices without feeling like you're shorting yourself.
We're going to dinner tonight so I've been careful all day. It helps if I stay out of the kitchen! -
179! WooHoo!! Only 7 more to get in normal BMI range and 19 more to goal.
Hope everyone has a great week!!
