Better now than never!
Hi everyone! I'm Nicole and I was diagnosed with stage 3c idc in may of this year. I'm already through surgury and round 4 of chemo(TAC). I just wanted to introduce myself and joingbthe club so to speak. I'm 28 years old and have 3 kids, 2 girls 8 and 6 and a son who is 4. They for sure keep me busy. I have an amazing husband who loves me more than anything and I will just taking this journey step by step. I will say as I pass the halfway point in the chemo.... I am thinking more about the future and what it holds.... How are you ladies dealing with the fear of the unknown?

Welcome Nicole. I am sorry you have to deal with this while raising small kids. You get all my respect for being able to carry that off.

Nicole welcome to an awesome group!!!! God, you are so young and my heart breaks, that this stupid disease has no boundaries... You will definitely find huge support on this site. Well, fear... A feeling so familiar to all of us, regardless stage, age, intelligence. I think the magic recipe is TIME!!! With time you learn to handle the fear and even learn living with it, but in a way that it's not torturing you that same way it does when newly diagnosed. No days goes by for me without thinking of cancer, but I am much in peace with myself and the whole situation, if that makes sense. I am also trying to live as healthy as possible. I have an adorable family like you and it was my strengths through the treatments and still is. Every time my husband hugs me and says '' you are as fit and healthy as a butcher's dog'' LOL, and I choose to believe him...
Wishing you good luck with treatments. Take care of yourself and give yourself time to heal both physically and psychologically. You have so much reason to fight and recover and live a long, healthy life!!!!!

Hi, Nicole. My diagnosis is almost exactly the same as yours - idc 4.1 cm, 11 nodes, er+, her2-
I finished rads in June and I feel good physically. Mentally and emotionally... I have good days and bad days. But mostly good!
I strongly urge you to get into one of the vaccine trials,
either for the E75 vaccine: http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/results?term=e75
or the AE37 vaccine: http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/results?term=ae37
You are in Texas which is the epicenter of breast cancer vaccine research. Are you going to MDA?

Hi Nicole, I'm so glad you're feeling good, so to speak, and looking forward to the future. I am part way through my first chemo treatment and looking at all the necessary stuff ahead of me. I read your blog and it was really uplifting! Thank you for taking the time to blog. God will get us through this!

Welcome Nicole. I am glad you found us. It sounds like you are moving through the treatments well. I think having kids keeps your mind off a lot of the self-reflection; personally, I think it helped me get through the treatments. Well, that and a fantastic DH.
I think a lot of the fear lessens with time. I still grapple with the unknown and expect I always will, but I try to limit those thoughts...not let them take me too far.
You look wonderful. Wishing you the best through treatment!

Hi Hun, sorry you have this I hope you have a good time with treatment.
Ask us lots of questions we will always answer. -
Hi Nicole. So sorry you've had to join us. Just wanted to send (((hugs))).

I had a 4, 6 and 15 year old when this started for me and now they are 9, 11 and 20. Worrying about my kids was the hardest part at the beginning and now I am just so happy to be able to spend as much time as possible with them. They make everyday better and I am looking forward to being there for them for a long long time. I've watched my oldest start college and plan to see him graduate in 3 years. It's hard to look forward from the point you are at now, but it does get better and one day you will wake up and realize you haven't spent the day thinking about "the big bad C". Welcome to the best site on the internet even if you never wanted to google it

Hi Nicole, welcome aboard. I had a 18 mth & 3 yr old at dx also, it can be tough at times but somehow you manage and get through it. I'm glad you found us, come here often!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone and thank you for the information on the vaccine trails! I am in the Dallas Fort Worth area but would happily drive down to houston!

Hi Nicole- When I was diagnosed my three children were also 8, 6 and 4. The fear is hard but as more time goes by you will feel better and better.
Glad you found us. I was diagnosed 6 years and 8 months ago-not that I'm counting or anything.

Hi Nicole!
I am a young survivor and new mother living in Fort Worth, TX as well. I would love to invite you to join a local support network that we started this year, especially for young survivors. It's called Simply the Breast and we meet monthly at The Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders in Fort Worth. Visit www.thecentertx.com to learn more and find our meeting dates under Cancer Resources.
I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in November 2010 while I was pregnant. I had surgery and chemo while pregnant and delivered my baby girl early due to the chemo. She's a healthy 17-month-old today and I have been cancer-free for over a year now. Many of the other women in our group have young children as well. We'd love to connect with you. If you have any questions, please email me at rmartinez@txcc.com. -
Hey Nicole,
I loved your blog...your children are so beautiful! I'm 44 and have two kids a boy and a girl..14 and 12. Amazing how when you first hear the diagnosis, your heart immediately thinks how am I going to tell my kids? They and my husband have been very supportive.
I finished AC chemo and I'm now on Taxol. Next week will be #5 out of 12. So far so good. Taxol is so much better than AC!
I hope you feel great and keep up the good spirit!

I remember what a big deal the half way point was for me, congratulations and thanks for introducing yourself. Lots of wonderful women and support to be found here!!!!!!!

Thanks for all the warm welcomes!

Hello Nicole! You sound so sweet! Must be that Texas upbringing? LOL
I'll admit, without my sisters from BCO, I'd be a disaster. This is a home filled with a loving family.
For me, everyday is a rollercoaster - some good, some great, some sucky. But, I always go back to my purpose and the loves in my life. I've learned a lot and continue to take one step at a time. I know that when I need to be pulled off the ceiling, I have people willing to get me back on my feet with a moments notice!
Its wonderful that you're doing so well with treatment and have a terrific family!
((((Hugs))))
