Anyone In Phoenix, AZ Area?

Hi Joanna, I've actually spent the entire night researching PS for my mom. She was dx about 3 weeks ago, had a lumpectomy this week and unfortunately the path report came back today that the margins were positive. So... mastectomy is in her near future and having had a bilat w/ implants, I'm incredibly sad she has to go through this too. Anyway, the 2 names I'd recommend are Albert Andres in Phoenix (he's @ St. Joes) and Kreymerman @ Mayo. If Kreymerman was your PS, please message me so I can tell my mom not to have a consult with him! I met with Andres because his credentials were stellar and he does the lipo/recon. I wanted to get his opinion on doing the fat injections to get rid of some rippling. He was confident without being cocky. The only "drawback" is that you actually have to register in the St Joes system as well as fill out his paperwork. I'd planned on a quick consult and it ended up taking about twice as long b/c of the St. Joes bit. Kreymerman has some positive feedback in posts here and since mom is being treated at Mayo, she will see a PS there.

Hi Michelle, thanks for the welcome! It's been so many years since I frequented bco, but with my mom's recent dx, I'm finding myself here more often but in a different capacity. I'm in - whenever the next meet up happens! I'm adding this thread to my favorites so I'll remember to keep current!
-
I'm so sorry to hear about your mom, Poppy. How lucky she is to have you do all this research for her -- it's an incredibly daunting task! I have not seen either Dr. Andres or Dr. Kreymerman, but I do have an appointment scheduled with Dr. Alanna Rebecca at Mayo Clinic in August. I am hoping she has some ideas on what to do about my implants. I will keep those two doctors in mind, though, in case my upcoming appointment does not go as planned. Thanks so much for the information!

Well welcome newbies, Elizabeth here. How is Wednesday August 22nd or Saturday August 25th? Let me know & I am more than happy to work it out. Just am looking for a vote. Some people enjoy during the week cause the weekend is usually family time. Looking forward to meeting you ladies.
We have a awesome group. We have been together since 2008 in December was our first get together. We usually meet once a month but things have not been the norm lately. So back on track. Always open to ideas. Will be making plans for the rest of the year.

Hi Ladies, just checking in,, and happy to see some newbies... JoAnn, Dr Rebecca is my ps, and she does amazing work, you will be in great hands!!! Joanna - you will love Dr. Rebecca. She just did my DIEP surgery in June. I second what KinAZ said about you will be in great hands.
-
Hi all, Elizabeth am open for either date just wondering where?

Thanks so much for the positive feedback on Dr. Rebecca. I am anxious to see her later this month!

I will not be able to plan the coffee date. I have fractured my hip in 2 places. I am told I have to stay in bed, elevate leg, use ice and the walker when I have to get up. Dr. said it will take 6 to 8 weeks to heal. I see him in 2 weeks for him to re-evaluate my hip. I am suppose to leave for an Alaskan Cruise for my 10 year anniversary in 2 weeks as well which now may have to be postponed.
If someone would like to plan the coffee date that would be great. You girls can get together. Coffee dates are usually planned at Starbucks on Indian Bend/101. Great conversation, great women. I know I was going for the 25th of August usually if it is done in the evening we do 6:30pm. So everyone can meet there I just will not be there. Hope you all plan to get together.
Blessings,
Elizabeth

eban,
I'm so sorry to hear that you have any more issues to deal with, and right before the cruise...that's just sucks. If you need anything or just want someone to come and visit with you just let me know. I know you've been trying so hard to do things that you've wanted to do for a long time so the timing on this couldn't be worse. I'll be thinking about you and sending good vibes.
All my Love, cin

Oh no Ebann!!! I know you were so excited about the cruise! I am sending prayers for speedy healing and lots of gentle hugs!

Hi everyone- I'm looking for a referral for a medical oncologist (not a BS) in the Phoenix area. I started a thread in the Not Diagnosed With a Recurrence but... Topics but someone suggested I post here. I'm 2 years out from BMX and had a bone and cat scan come back with abnormalities BS say are suspicious. She is down in Tucson so am trying to find someone here in the valley. I'm in northeast Mesa. Would anyone recommend their onc? Thanks so much.
-
Kate,
I was referred to an onco by another woman here and I liked her very much. She has two offices that I know of;
40460 N 92nd st, Scottsdale, Az 85285 Suite 400 #480-860-2540 &
7200 W Bell rd Glendale,Az 85308 Bld A #623-487-4822
Sharon M. Ondreyco, M.D.
I hope you find someone that you're comfortable with, I know that can be hard to do.

Cindy-Rose- Thanks for the name and for including all her contact information. I appreciate it so much!
-
Dr. Gerry Kato is another choice for you. He's located near the 101/Pima Rd and Via De Ventura. 9055 E. Del Camino #100 phone 480-882-0130.
I met Dr. Ondreyco and did'nt like her (at all), but I know that many people do like her. She is only in the Scottsdale office on Fridays, I think.
Best of luck,
Sherri

Thanks so much, Sherri. I will add him to my list. I appreciate you posting!

Hi everyone! I made it back from my cruise with success. In Seattle until tomorrow we fly back to AZ. Will be planning a get together the end of this month. Will set up the date when I get home. I am so grateful I got to go on my trip. My husband and I took a wheelchair the Dr. prescribed.
Recommendations for Dr.
BS: Dr. Lise Walker in Phoenix on Greenway/I-17 602-942-8000
Oncologist: Dr. Sharon Ondreyco she is highly recommended as one of the top Women Dr., also awarded best Dr. in America, also in Journal magazine, also in the top 100 Physician in Phoenix. She is straight forward and to the point. One of the many things that I love about her. She helped me when I had IBC and then I was re-dx with cancer again. She is aggressive and does not wait around. She has been my oncologist since 2008. I feel fortunate I had found her. I have looked at other oncologist before her and have not been happy with them. I wish you the best in finding a good oncologist. Be your own advocate do what feels right to you. Also Dr. Ondreyco works with a Naturopath: Dr. Jonathan Psenka who is also on the top 100 Dr.'s in Phoenix. It is great to do alternative with medicine they communicate very well with each other. Hope you have found this helpful.
Blessings

Thanks for the onco recommendation, Elizabeth. Dr. Ondreyco's name has come up several times from other people so she must be good! Glad you had a good time on your cruise!
-
Dr Lise Walker was my BS. She is outstanding!!
Thanks for the Onc recommendation! I think I need a new one!
-
ebann,
I so happy to hear that you had such a great time. I was worried that you might be in too much pain to go. I'll try to come to the next get together, I've been feeling pretty good this past week, just a little tired but aren't we all. I'll be looking to see when you set it up.
I love Dr Ondreyco because she didn't give me a bunch of crap for my decisions. She is very direct and I like that too, but what I liked the most was that she listened to me was very concerned with how I was feeling. The other onco I saw before her was only concerned about his reputation and actually yelled at me when I wouldn't do what he wanted me to do. I agree that everyone should do what they feel is right for them. It can be very difficult to find someone that we're comfortable with, and I'm so glad that you sent me to see her. Thank you Elizabeth.
All my love to you my friend,
cin

I see Dr. Clayton Polowy at Desert Oncology at Banner Desert:
1432 S Dobson Road, Suite 106
Mesa, AZ 85202
Phone: 480-969-3637He is a very nice guy, who let me know about all my alternatives and was supportive of my final decisions. My only gripe is that he is always late, at least 30 minutes to an hour. Other than that, I've been very pleased with my treatment.
-
Thanks Joanna for the recommendation. I will add him to my list. I do my LE treatment at Banner and have always been impressed by them, too.

Hi there Ladies,
Will it has been awhile since we have had a get together. It is time for our monthly meet ups to get on a roll. I have been traveling and then broke my hip so I was not able to make things happen this summer as I intended. I know this is short notice. I would like everyone to meet at Chili's September 24th for lunch around 12. Chili's is doing donations for St. Jude's Hospital for children with cancer. They give 100%. I am hoping that all of you will come and take part in this.
Location:

Just wanted to thank everyone who posted, and sent PM's, for onco recommendations in the valley. I ended up going to Dr. Cianfrocca at the new Banner/MD Anderson Cancer Center in Gilbert. Would highly recommend them, and her, if anyone is looking for an onco. She is recommending further testing to rule out mets but really doesn't think it's anything to worry about. Thanks again for all the referrals!

Hello ladies, I am new to these boards but am in the Chandler, AZ area. I was diagnosed on Sept. 4 and underwent Mammosite Radiation the week of Sept. 17th. It would be nice to meet some local Phoenix area people. I kind of have the blues lately so I am happy to find these forums. I don't feel so alone now.
