December 2011 Surgeries - want to wait together?

I see the PS in 2 weeks.  Saw the PA today.  Everything seens right on schedule.  The swelling on my right side has made me lopsided in terms of the bottom line.  The right is sitting higher than my left - my only real aesthetic concern today.  I figure I'll know more in a couple of weeks and save the harder questions for the PS.  What I thought was part of my Port - in my mind, possibly left inside of me - was actually a swelling (not sure of the exact term he used) of the vein where the Port was threaded. 

I have an MRI, now that the TE's are out, next Wednesday.  I've had back pain since April that doesn't seem to resolve. Ofcourse, my mind goes "there" and it will be worrisome waiting for those results. My MO is closer to home.  Tomorrow I set course for home - a nearly 7 hour drive.

Spunky - how do they put implants in if there is no pocket made (via Tissue Expansion)??? 

Alloderm?

Could be you didn't have complete coverage of the breast area with your pectoralis muscle?  We are all different according to my PS.  My pec muscle not only completely covered the breast area, but the muscle was very thick (my PS tells me how surprised she was when she got to look inside).  I told her years of "flys" and playing tennis.  Anyway, I needed to be stretched out because of 100% coverage, maybe?  She was prepared to use Alloderm, but didn't need it. 

Greetings all.  Made appoitment today for mammo.  Second one after UMX and nervous that something will be found. I just so want to move on and stop having these worries.

Faith - sorry to hear about your nephew and "best friend."  But good luck on the surgery...is this just more grafting or something different?  I don't know, I feel like brca2 and oncoscore 39 were bad enough news to come along with BC.  I've been lucky otherwise

I think going into 5 hours of surgery after finishing 5 months of chemo was just a bit too much.  I'm as fatigued as any moment I was on chemo.  It will resolve for sure as I was getting more energy 4 weeks post chemo, pre-surgery.  The ooph was easy!!!!!!  The easiest of parts.  Wow - removing your port through your nipple incision - way to go!  My PS reopened my initial port incision.  Too bad, as it had healed >> invisible. Maybe it will do that again.  The implants - don't like so much.  For the first time I feel like I need to wear a bra.  The TE's felt so much lighter and I barely noticed them!  And now I am uneven...the right is sitting higher than the left, but am told that will resolve.  We'll see.

I'm 4 days post surgery. Doing really well, much better than this time the first time around. Just a little sore and slow getting around.



But, one thing I didn't expect. I have a cast of sorts on my boobs. Yep - casts. There is a layer of sticky thin foam and then this hard plastic mesh on top. It shapes them without damaging the tissue. Supposed to have it for about 3 weeks. Showering is a challenge, but using press and seal Saran wrap. After three weeks I get a break for about 3 weeks, then wear the brava for 4 weeks until my last surgery nov 29th. Was hoping to have the 3rd a little sooner, but now I have a date in mind.

Hello all my December sisters!



I just skimmed the posts and sounds like everyone is doing well for the most part



I have some bad news unfortunately, which explains my recent absence. I was just diagnosed with Kidney Cancer aka Renal Cell Carcinoma 5 cm Malignant tumor. We have an appointment tomorrow with University of Chicago to discuss prognosis, treatment plans and surgery options. This meeting will also determine if this is a secondary cancer or if my breast cancer spread and metas.



I'm trying to stay strong until I know more, tomorrow will be an important day. Prayers are welcome for a positive outcome. I'm young and still in shock but handling it ok so far.

Bogie - I am so sorry you are going through this.

I know it's crazy to compare cases, but a dear friend's husband was recently diagnosed with kidney cancer for the second time. He underwent cryosurgery in Southern California, which removed the tumor, but preserved the majority of the kidney, and is doing well.

I will be keeping you in my prayers for a good appointment tomorrow, and the best possible options and outcomes for you!!!!! Please keep us posted!!!

Bogie-I cannot believe you are going through this. One of my October surgery sisters "kelleyod" is going through something similar and just had surgery. Sending hugs and prayers your way!! Let us know how your appointment goes.
