Julz - yay you did it! So happy for you that you are done and can start building up that immune system!
I have my last treatment tomorrow. I am so pleased at how well my skin held up. I have worn a bra throughout and only had minor peeling under my breast. However I didn't have chest wall or under my arm zapped.
I'm not sure how I feel about being finished with active treatment (of course there is still tamoxifen). I'm relieved but apprehensive at the same time. I'm ready to start the next chapter of my life. -
Rads completed on 8/20/12
Julz4 - Congratulations on reaching the finish line. Welcome to the "I HAD cancer club." Now, let's move on to the rest of our lives.
Kim - What a great surprise. Better to subtract a day than to add a day. That was my experience when the rads machine broke down one day toward the end of my treatment. Hang in there - it will be over soon.
I'm still amazed on how great I feel 3 days post rads. My students will show up tomorrow. The past two days have been for teachers/staff only. I'm ready for a different kind of stress; one not related to BC. It's going to be a great year.
-
Off to #14/25 and it is Friday....2 wonderful days off.
-
Just finished 20 of 30! Glad for the weekend. Getting pretty red.
-
Anybody have problems with naseau? I'm at treatment 19 of 33 and I have naseau to varying degrees throughout the day.. not enough to be sick, but just constant.
-
Enigmas....I have had nausea since day one of RADS! Is this the first it has hit you or has it been coming & going for days? I know others have had it but it started weeks into treatment. I went to my GI Dr. as I have acid reflux. My GI said she see's patients who go through RADS that complain of nausea....a queezy yuck feeling. Gingerale helped me or try coke, along with smaller meals with protien. I was also given an anti nausea med. that helped a lot. Talk with your Dr. see what they can do for you. But don't suffer through it. As I lost 4 pounds in a week because of it. They don't want you to loose weight during RADS. I hope you feel better soon let us know how things go.
-
It is finished!
100% complete. 33/33
It's hard to believe! I don't think it has sunk in. No bell to ring, but hugs from the 3 techs and a nice card with a magnet.
For those still in the midst of treatment, enjoy your 2days off... You'll be on the other side of the finish line before you know it!
Take good care of yourselves -
Go Teacup! Congrats on your big finish. So glad you're done with the rads.

Teacup 2012 - Congratulations on finishing rads. It's been four days for me and I know what you mean about not being able to believe that it's finally over. Here's a bell for you to ring. Do something fun this weekend to celebrate.
-
woohoo teacup!
-
Teacup YEAHHHH!!! Enjoy your weekend!
-
Yea teacup...your turn on the podium.....bless your heart..you finished the race.
-
Kim: What the heck? Just kidding. Good for you! I wonder why some of us need 32 vs. 33 or 34. It's just weird. I would LOVE to be done the Friday before the wedding.
-
Teacup: Congrats!
-
Yea I was surprised, the only reason I found out is the tech said oh you only have X many left - I said really I thought I was doing 33 - she pulled my file and said no 32. So that same day met with the RO and I asked him and he said 33 - I told him what the tech said, so he actually checked my file and said - oh 32. No idea how that works, but not sure how I feel about the RO not knowing what is in my file. I am really not too impressed with him anyway, glad I'm not having any issues (fingers crossed) so my time with him is very short. I don't plan on seeing him again after I finish - though that hasn't even been discussed. I like my MO much better, so will continue with him!
Doesn't the RO decide about the treatment? Weird eh?
-
Ki: Yes the RO does decide about the treatment. I think they follow the same protocal for most types, depending on the type of cancer, etc. My RO, IMO, has not beside manner. He was late for my weekly appt. yesterday, and I couldn't stay. As I was walking out, I asked him if he wanted to look at my boob, and he said, no, do you have any questions, etc. For that, I will get charged (or should I say the insurance company) $220. How nice.
-
Thanks everyone! I went out for sushi and a martini with my son. Very precious time together. He is moving out this weekend, just to an apartment in town, but still a change.
Now that I'm on the podium I'll be cheering from there for Kim, Isabelle, Karen, Belinda, enigmas2, ellendou, tab55, and any others I may have missed. Hang in there!
Ending the day with a happy dance! -
Kim, I don't have much respect for my RO. It's so hard when we entrust our care (and our lives!?!) with these doctors. I loved my MO, he often ran late, but once I had his attention it was like I was the only person in the world. He would sit and talk as long as I needed. the RO would still be talking as he walked out he door without ever saying "any questions?"
I'm so glad my MO will be overseeing my care for the next 5years! -
Came home from #14 today & slept soundly for 3 1/2 hours....this is the "Whirling Dervish" speaking...can't believe I did that. What is happening to me?
-
I love my nurses and techs at the radiation center, you see them more anyway. My MO made me wait an hour last week, though that was the first time I've had to wait. He didn't rush me and answered all my questions, so I agree, glad I will be seeing him more than my RO!

My husband surprised me today (4 days post rads) by arranging for a limo to pick up three of my friends and their husbands before arriving at our house. He had champagne for all of us and a red rose for each of my friends and me. I was a crying mess during the initial surprise and the toasts to my victory over cancer. We went to a steak house, had a fantasic meal, and a great time. The support of my husband, family, and friends has been amazing. Tonight was a great celebration. Now, on to the rest of my life.
-
Oh Babette what wonderful wonderful surprise! Your DH is a keeper & your friends the best! But then you don't need anyone to tell you....because you have seen it! Onward & Upward!
-
What a nice way to celebrate the end of a journey Babette!
-
Teacup, congrats on being done.
Babette, what I wonderful surprise.
I want a end of radiation celebration myself! 20 of 30 done!
-
Babette - kudos to your husband. Way to celebrate your big finish!
-
kjiberty: Thanks for your thoughts. The service was lovely. My brother sang in the choir for 20 years, and acted in lots of local plays, so the church was standing room only. (My brother would have loved that.) I gave a eulogy for the family, and put together a slide show. There was lots of laughter mixed with the tears, which was nice. It was wonderful to be with my family. I just hope it's a long time before I have to go to another family funeral.
On the bright side, only 4 WBR and 5 boosts left for me. I'm eagerly looking forward to the end of radiation.
Teacup: Congrats on the end of radiation! You won the race, now enjoy all the free time you now have.
-
Tab55: I am glad you were able to do this for your brother. Sounds like it was a good celebration of his life. You are one treatment ahead of me. I have 5 WBR and 5 boosts. Because of the holiday next Monday, I will finish on 9/10 instead of 9/7.
-
kjiberty: I'm taking Friday off too, so my last boost will be on 9/10 just like you! We can celebrate together
-
Tab (HUGS)
21 of 30 done! 2 more whole breast and then 7 boosts.
-
On my way to #15, I have to go longer because of the holidays too...I hit the Aug. weekend & now Labour day puts me finishing 09/11. Not quite as tired this a.m. guess because I had the weekend off...do not know what todays zap will bring. The trip is so darn long..almost 3 hours by the time I leave the house and return.
BTW I asked my onc about boosts & told me that they are incorporated into each treatment instead of big boosts at the end.
Maybe that is why I am so tired??? Slept almost 4 hours friday afternoon & then all night. Anyone else doing that?
Teacup...good for you..time with your son. My son lives in Thailand with his wife & 2 little ones. I love Sushi but DH does not. Sometimes the Costco here gives out free samples....I gobble them up.
Everyone: that podium is going to be very busy during the next couple of weeks. Hurrah!
Babette: does this mean we will not be seeing you?
