Woohoo Babette - what a great feeling!  I am doing a dance for you!

I have 3 weeks left and my tech told me today that this weekend I would probably see a lot of pink/red on my chest.  At least that is when it normally shows up.

Wondering if rads are slowing down my hair growth?  It is growing but slower than I hoped.  Still no eyelahses and brows are just about gone.

I agree about the pink reminders. I appreciate the thoughtfulness behind the gestures, but with the exception of one shirt that is pink but not a slogan shirt, I have put away my pink stuff too.

Babette, joining the happy dance! Congrats!

I completely understand wanting to pack up the cancer trinkets. I also am looking forward to moving beyond cancer.

Julz will get to the finish line next, but I'll be close behind. Had my first boost today, it was the first time I've ever been written on with a sharpie. The nurse commented today at how well my skin is holding up. I'm so thankful for that.

Isabelle, I know it's frustrating to feel tired and worn down, but I think if you rest when you feel like you need it your recovery will be quicker overall. I say don't push yourself, allow yourself a little nap in the afternoon. I try to rest with my feet up for at least 30 minutes everyday when I get home from work and my treatment. I think it helps.

For everyone else, hang in there and take care.

Last rads. today, I'm so happy. I"m going out to dinner and having a few of my favorite drinks, I may even get a little drunk. I got my hope rock today for graduation that I wanted. I just took in a box of chocolates for the techs since I had so many different people. Hope you all are doing well, I feel like I'm on top of the world right now!

    Jag - woohoo congrats!

Karen - just a little red on my chest, nothing bad.  Saw my MO today, first time since Chemo.  He said I looked like I was handling rads well and he didn't expect me to have much trouble!  I asked him about what was next.  He said come back in 10 weeks, if everything looks good he will order my mammogram and port removal.  No scans or anything.  Just a once a year mammogram and a chest xray next year.  Other than seeing him every 3 months I guess that will be it unless something is found.  Is that what most of ya'll are hearing from your MO or are you getting scans etc?

CONGRATULATIONS JAG - Today, I do a happy dance for you.  I know what you mean about being on top of the world.

My first day of not having to drive 45 minutes to a rads treatment was great.  I spent most of the day in my classroom.  Tomorrow is my first day back since March 16.  I'm so ready.

Kim- my MO said pretty much the same thing. No scans, see him every 3 months the first year. I think I'll have a mammo in Oct. which is when my annual will be. I am one of those who was prompted by breast cancer awareness to get my mammo after a few years of neglecting to do it. I had a feeling something was wrong and every where I turned there were pink ribbons etc.

Hang in there with rads... Really no SE's here. My skin is all intact. 3 boosts to go.

Kim, my team has me seeing each specialist during the year so I am seeing someone every six months for rechecks.  I have my first repeat Mammo in November and am already thinking about...UGH.

    Rads completed on 8/20/12

I am 3 days post rads and am amazed at how good my skin looks and feels.  The pinkness started fading a few days after my last WBR.  I then had 6 boosts and the pinkness continued to fade during the boosts.  My skin is pealing ever so slightly--no itching though.  I am no longer putting on the oily stuff--just lotion--it's so much less messy.  I put in my first full day at school today--no kids until Friday.  I feel no tiredness.

I wanted to share my experience post rads with you so you know that SEs can be minor.  I feel so good.  Hopefully, my luck holds out.

I think of those of you still doing rads.  Hang in there.  It will be over soon.

Although I experienced some post rad itchiness, I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I bounced back from the rads. I do not have this shrunken, weathered, boob, I half-expected, to be left with. Besides the obvious scars from the surgery and less volume, of course, my skin is soft and basically the same as its pre-rads counter part. I have my energy back, the redness and tanning is gone, I have no more sore throats and finally, the itchiness is gone too. The only thing that remains is that I am still fairly sensitive to the sun, lthough not near as much as during the rads, although that could be because of my rads schedule; I simply was not able to be in the sun at all during the early and mid summer and our temps were 100+ many days this year.

All in all, it was a quick recovery. I hope you all experience the same. Smile

I'm done....first day I didn't have to run....well that is to RADS.  My 2 youngest sons started school yesterday.  So I am still running them to the bus stop in the morning.

    Thanks Mini!

My lefty is less red all over already.  But then I think it's because I was just having my boosts the last week.  As for me being sick through this I think it has to due with the sucky immune system I have to begin with before RADS.  Again I am sick with a nasty head cold, just after finishing meds for Bronchitis.   Because I work with sick people I tend to pick up more stuff to begin with. It's gonna take time to build my immue system back up. Can anyone suggest any suppliments that might help?  I started my B's, D, & CoQ 10 back up this morn.  I plan on getting Turmeric & have been taking my fish oil all along.

Yeah Babette!  I'm glad it's turning around quickly for you.  I hope school is going well for you.

Belinda...your getting there!  You will be done before you know it!

    Kj your getting closer too.

    Teacup your almost done!

Jag yeah you beat me to the finish line!

Isabelle I hope your holding up ok!

Onvacation I'm hoping things are still not too bad for you.

CONGRATULATION Julz! We're going to get our cardio in just doing the happy dance for all the sisters finishing up the rads. We're waiting up here on the podium for the rest of you ladies getting to the finish line. Keep on keeping on. You'll be done before you know it!

Isabelle - I found Theraflu helpful with my throat. I drank it at night and used lozenges during the day. They cleared up right away after the rads stopped. You're more than 50% through. That's awesome. You'll be up on the podium before you know it. :-)

Karen - turns out I will finish a few days before you because my RO miscalculated!  Can you believe!  So I will have 32 instead of 33 treatments.  I know it is only 1 but this means I finish on a Friday instead of Monday!  I will do 2 happy dances - one for me and one for you on Monday!
