good morning rachel, I also am experiencing pain in my breast but not by my incision, I am using the base glaxal also plus pure aloe gel> I alternate them but at night i put on the base glaxal ( quite heavy I might add ) hahaha before bedtime. It,s nice to have the wknd off though , yeah. I think for me it is more because of the travel time.

Ali how awful for you! Did you let her know how much pain she caused? ( i,m sure you must of wanted to drop kick her!) How  is your arm doing now??? I think if it happens again or if she is rough again i,d be reporting it. Do they have other therepists there that you could switch over to?

Hi all.  Well,I was suppose to start rads last Tues; however, my RO decided to have me come back in to re-map, tatoo, etc.  The first time I was on my back, this second time I was on my stomach. My RO states the new position should help avoid radiation to my lung, so while I was disappointed not to get this started so that it can end, I am happy to know my RO is looking out for my overall well being.  However, I do now have enough tattoo's to play connect the dots! Laughing  My rads are now scheduled to begin this Tues, 8/14.

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend and I wish you all a good week ahead.

    Take care.

I am back from camping and had a lovely weekend.  I am on day 4 of my wound vac and see my surgeon tomorrow.  There was good progress between dressing changes last week so I am hoping for even better results tomorrow.  I missed everybody and welcome those that are new.

Met with my RO on Thurs and had the simulation on Friday. I now have blue lines all over and my tats. They want me to try and keep the lines but kept telling me not to worry if they fade because of the tats. I get to start on the 24th. I was told not to use any creams except the one he gives me. I have to say that so far he is my favorite Dr. He really took time to listen and made sure I was comfortable during the whole process.

Hi Rachael, I am not sure if my other reply posted so I am writing this one in hopes you see it. My name is Patricia, and I am starting my rads treatment on 8/14/12. I had my tattooing done on 8/9/12, and was told it would be about 10 days. They called me the next day to set up treatment. I guess at this point it is good to get started and get it done. I just wanted you to know that you are not alone

Rad #4 was today...17 more to go! I had some itchiness on the breast afterwards, has anyone else experienced this? Other than that, not too many SEs yet, but it is still early.

@ Aimz and Medwick711 - good luck tomorrow!

What with that and Tamoxifen, hot flushes, no sleep ad feeling sick I'm not in the best of moods.

Today I wanted to throw the towel in but guess what I didn't.

Medwick711, hope everything went ok for you today.

Rachel11 glad to hear you are not experiencing too many se's.  Hope it stays that way!

Ali68, sorry you are having a rough time.  I hope you feel better soon!

Hi ladies ..i start rads on Tuesday ..coming week! My mx looked good when first done on the 4th July...but after having it drained 3 times it now looks like an 'old'  crocodile handbag...it's red ..sore and i still have fluid in it! Should i put my foot down and refuse the rads till they fix me up? I am also due to start oral chemo on the same day....if i can tolerate it..its.forever..i was told i had lung mets ..last week..

When i was tattoed ..i nearly hit the roof on the part where the breasbone is..as that is so red and sore!

Had rads 3/36, only 33 more to go, whoopee! So far so good, just a little sore at the scar sight, otherwise no real SE's yet.

Dulcie, have u had a chance to check out any other threads for people with similar Dx, it might be more helpful to get some advice from them, not sure if anyone else here has lung mets, wish I could be of assistance to reassure u that things will be ok! Good luck with rads, chemo, and I hope that u have less pain.

Today I was given Morphine to take for my terrible sore throat and so I can eat. Came home today feeling very ill and not with it, good job DH was driving today I wouldn't have made it home. Even with morphine and pain killers it bloody hurts and I have 4 more to go. Get this, also I could have these SE for a few weeks after.

Oh Ali hon, I I hope your next 4 go by fast for you at least and that the morphine helps your throat pain to get a bit of relief for the next while. sending very gentle hugs

    Hi Rads Friends,

Just thought I'd check in tonight. I had #8 of 31 today. I noticed last night that I was a bit sore under my right arm pit and breast looked red and swollen. I reported this to the techs when I had treatment today. Yesterday, they took X-rays to ck their treatment area, so I wondered if that might have caused the pain. As it turned out, my RO was seeing everyone today. He said I was about as he expected for this point in my treatment. He gave me a tube of Radia Gel. He said the swelling in my arm pit is a seroma, which is best left undisturbed unless it becomes a problem. I'm just so happy to be feeling more like my old self again now that I'm a few weeks away from chemo. I too, have those permanent ink marks. They redraw some of them every so often. I always knew I was a big baby when they did the tattoos. Man that hurt. I don't know how people get tats all over themselves. I don't even have pierced ears.

Tina, my husband had a wound vac for a few weeks several years ago on his wrist. It must be a challenge to have it on your breast. And to think you managed to go camping under such conditions. You are a strong soul.

Dulcie, it sounds like you have the seroma problem. I didn't realize you could do chemo and rads at the same time. It'll all get better with time, I'm sure. Hang in there.

Aimz, I take it that you didn't lose much time when they had you stop rads so they could remap you. Sounds like you are back on track.

Ali, I'm so sorry you have the misery of a sore throat that's so bad you need morphine. I had no idea that could happen. I hope it resolves very quickly.

everyone, have a good day tomorrow and a nice reprieve over the weekend.

I still have the wound vac and it is going well, but like lostinmo mentioned I am tired of waiting and want to get moving.  I saw a wound specialist Wednesday and he said everything looks "beautiful" and things are healing very nicely.  There is no infection and the granulization tissue looks very healthy.  He said one more week, maybe two at the most and then hopefully I will be joining you rad ladies!!!  I see my surgeon next Wednesday and am anxious to hear his input on when he thinks I will be ready to start radiation!  I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

In the mean time I have learned a lot by reading many of your posts!  Thank you for the support!

Tina so glad to hear that you are starting to heal up that is wonderful news!!Just think hon, after you heal it will be down hill for you from there, radiation will be a breeze compared to what you have gone through! You must have a bit of  weight off your shoulders knowing that you are starting to heal. sending you a very clumsy happy dance hahahaCool

Just checking in - good to see that most of you are moving along without too much trouble.  So sorry for those who are having side effects.

I haven't even started yet!  I will have the simulation this coming Friday, and start treatment the following Monday (8/27).  Besides my chest wall, two areas of lymph nodes are being targeted - one that is closer to my neck than my underarm.  RO said that will most likely cause throat soreness, so, Ali, I may be comiserating with you soon.

Let the countdown to Oct. 11 (last scheduled rad) begin!

Hi all - I meet with my RO on Thursday (8/23) to get this party started ... a bit nervous after reading through the wide variety of reactions different people have experienced. :P One step at a time, though.  Will post once I know the plan!

Just wanted to say that I just completed 11 of 33 !!! That's 1/3 done and really having no issues at all. I just hope that this continues for a while. I did meet a woman at the treatment center and she had just finished number 18. She told me she was in a lot of pain. The one thing I did learn from chemo is ht we all react so differently! Right now this is a lot easier than chemo!!!

Hope everyone is having a great day :()))))))

Hi everyone - I'm late for this topic, started rads in late July and just had treatment #19 today. So far my skin is holding up pretty well. Just starting getting an achy feeling under my arm in the last day or so. Breast aches a bit and feels a little heavy. Overall, I'm relieved that it hasn't been worse.  I've learned much from reading your posts. Thanks for starting this topic, Rachel. Wish I had seen it sooner, but better late than never! Wishing everyone quick healing from their rads.

Last one tomorrow, omg I made it!

All I can say is use an oil to cover you as I have no problems at all. A little pink but that's it, if you have sore throat lots of ice cream.

Good morning. I'm hopping on board. I was with TCX4 March & April. It was such a comfort during chemo to be able to "talk" to someone & share my thoughts and get feedback and

support from ladies experiencing the same regiment. Finished chemo 5/24. Had to wait for my white counts to return to normal and it took 10 weeks.

I started rads on August 14th. I have 33 treatments (28 whole breast & 5 boosts). Today I have #10. Only 23 more to go.

No side effects yet. I have been using aloe gel-make sure it's all natural, no dyes, perfumes, or alcohol. CVS sells an after sun tube for $2.99. I also purchase miaderm cream on line.

    Good luck to all today!

good morning, julie and diane, just think ladies your nearing the end of your treatments! you both have had such a long road. Just remeber to cream, cream cream and also remember to eat! My last treatment is today. When I look back I can,t get over how fast time went by. They say time goes by the older you get but I am not that old hahaha! I also used aloe and glaol base cream and alternated them through the day. So I have some reddening and a pretty good darn rash under my arm but it is not bothersome if this is as bad as it got i am not complaining hahaha. Anyways everyone try and have a good of day as possible and hoping treatments remain kind.
