I've been so busy this summer I haven't had time to post. Things are great and summer has been fun for me. I just got my new SUP board and was out on it first thing this AM cruising around the lake. Love it! I've been pretty good about my diet except for not eating enough. My weight has been pretty steady all summer despite all the carbs from cocktails. LOL. Breakfast is fruit and yogurt, lunch is pretty much non existent and dinner is salad with some protien. It's the cheese and crackers at cocktail hour that get me every time. Good thing I'm not a big drinker only one or two a couple of nights a week.
Been riding my bike and doing a little hiking too. Everybody sounds like they are having a good summer too. -
Just popping in to quickly say Hi! I'm heading to bed. TGIF. I will try to read and catch up tomorrow:)
-
Hi everyone!!! Rocket those recipes sound great!! Please post when you get a chance. We got to Boston yest evening, it's great to be with my DD & boyfriend. She made homemade pizza, garlic knots & caprese salad for dinner. It's going to be difficult to stay on track this weekend. I will do my best to make healthier choices. Have a great weekend!!!
-
Hey, Tenaj, Just have fun and enjoy your weekend with your daughter and boyfriend. Thoughts and prayers for safe travel. We are headed out for a walk now. I feel better with a low carb diet, but boy is it hard to maintain it. Hugs and blessings for you all this weekend. Kathy
-
Kindergarten, just wanted you to know you are in my thoughts & prayers!!! Get a good nights sleep & stay positive, all will be OK!! Lots of hugs...treat yourself to something special tomorrow to help get your mind of the blood work.

Hi ladies! I made a recipe I found on pinterest for supper. I may have told you all before my husband is allergic to wheat (gluten allergy) so i try to find gluten free recipes and it it is better for me too:). We had large portobella mushroom cap pizzas. No crust. Just cleaned the caps cooked a bit drained the water off and put spoon of pizza sauce in them filled with veggies and a little meat topped with low fat mozzarella cheese put in oven and baked till hot n bubbly They were really good. I think it should be pretty low calorie as well. We have had the grandkids a lot this weekend so got exercise too. If i knew how to post a picture i would. Ill work on that. Snobird sounds like you are having a great summer. Tenaj. Your pizza salad n garlic knots sound wonderfu. Enjoy your time with your DD. Kathy enjoy time with that grandbaby. Rocket we love to hear of new recipes so please share when you have time. Have a good day tomorrow everyone!
-

Did you have a great time with your daughter and boyfriend. I hope you had a great time and ate great food. God bless you, Kathy

Hi Ladies,
I've been walking in this ridiculously steep neighborhood of mine and hoping it will get easier each day. Here's the blueberry banana bread recipe:
1 cup granulated sugar
3 Tbsp. light butter suitable for baking
2 eggs
3-4 medium bananas, ripe and mashed
1/3 cup water
1 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Spray 3 mini loaf pans or one large loaf pan with vegetable cooking spray. Mix sugar and light butter in 2 1/2 quart bowl. Stir in eggs until blended. Add bananas and water. Beat 30 seconds. Stir in remaining ingredients (except blueberries) until moistened. Fold in blueberries and pour into prepared pans. Bake until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. (large pan 55-60 min; mini pans 40-45 mins). Cool in pan on wire rack for 5 minutes. Loosen loaf from sides of pan with a knife. Remove from pan. Cool before slicing. (My DH never makes it until it's cool. He cuts off a big slice about two seconds after I remove it from the pan!)
I'll send the taco chowder recipe soon. Enjoy! -
Dear Rocket, Yum, yum, can't wait to try them!!!!! Thank you for sending the recipes!!!!
-
Sounds good Rocket:). It has been cooler here. Our pool heater bit the dust. I did get in today a little while and did some laps and some water zumba moves:). New heater will be about 1400.00 so we are going to wait and fix at beginning of next season. By the time they get it ordered and installed it will be time to close the pool this year so i just gotta swim faster hahaha. I love having the heater for cool evenings though i will miss it. Wishing everyone a great day tomorrow!
-
ATEAMNANA, I can not believe that Fall is almost here, hopefully you can get some more swimming in. It is such a great exercise. I went swimming a few weeks ago, felt great. I need to do it more often. Have a great Monday.
-
Hi ladies, I've been so bad with exercise for the last few weeks. It was just so hot, and I got very busy with life.....but....I took a bike ride tonight after work & dinner. It felt great. Now that it is starting to cool down I look forward to riding. I went to an orthopedic doc on Friday for shoulder pain that I'm finally addressing. The pain started before BC which was 1 year ago in May. As you all know how BC takes over your life I just put that pain into another category. Anyway....he is sending me for a MRI, he thinks it's a rotor cuff tear. Hopefully it's not too bad & won't need surgery. Meanwhile, I'm trying a regimen of aleve for 2 wks. Just hope it gets better so I can enjoy other exercises & life without pain.
After this holiday weekend I'm getting back to the 17 day diet. I need to get back on track, especially before the holiday's get here!!!
Hope everyone is well & enjoying the rest of the summer! :-) -
I hope there's an easy soluton for your shoulder, tenaj.
I'm back to work, classes start tomorrow. I've been bad about exercise, but am working on it. I'm getting back on track with food too, back to work means back to regular food stuff, which is good.
I hope everyone else is well, I've noticed that it's been quiet around here.
Any news on the cancer marker retest Kathy?
-
Hi Tenaj and CookieMonster, Tenaj, hope you find relief soon with pain and they can get to the bottom of it. My son has a tear in his rotator cuff and he has not had surgery just some physical therapy. Please keep us posted. I know how much you like to ride bikes, so I hope the pain does not stop you. CookieMonster, CA2729 and the CEA came down alot almost to normal, and my onc is satisfied with the results, she says she looks for the trend. I am back on aromasin, she also likes the safety net it provides. Thanks for asking!!! Have a wonderful start with the new school year. I did some swimming today, I loved it. Now I know why ATEAMNANA loves it. Hey, we all fall off the wagon, so the Fall will give us all a brand new start and we can all help each other. Please say prayers for Rocket. She lost her sister last week.
-
Kathy glad your test results were good. Tenaj so sorry you are dealing with such pain. Hope you get some relief. Cookiemonster hope your back in the swing of school:).
I have really ben slacking on all accounts. Diet and exercise. It is raining here and my pool is about to overflow. I just hope it does not come into the sunroom:(. Rain is supposed to continue all weekend so we will see. So sorry to hear of rocket's loss of her sister also. Hi snobird if you are popping in. I am Headed off to bed. Have a good weekend everyone. -
Hi everyone. I'm proud of myself today. Fridays at school there's breakfast (eggs, bacon, potatoes, etc... AND bagels and cream cheese). I didn't have any of it. I stuck to what I'm supposed to eat. Tonight DS and I baked banana chocolate chip bread (you don't want the recipe, it's all sugar and butter). I didn't cut into it this evening, figure we'll save it until he can have some in the morning, he went to bed before it was cool.
Exercise is not so great, but I'm getting more natural movement from being on my feet teaching all day.
I hope eveyone has a lovely long weekend.
Hugs to you all, especially Rocket - sorry for your loss.
Tenaj, I hope your shoulder's getting better.
Great news for you Kathy!
ATeamNana - I wish we had rain, we're just hot hot and hot. I hope for your sake that it lets up so you don't flood.
Goodnight all.
-
Thank you sweet Ladies for all your encouragement and well wishes!!!! ATEAMNANA, don't worrry about slacking, you will get back on track, as soon as the weather gets cooler and the rain stops. We are here to always encourage and help you and each other. CookieMonster, I so admire you for your will power!!! I would be scarfing down those potatoes and bacon. You inspire me. Tenaj, I sure hope your shoulder is getting better. Rocket, please thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Hugs to you all and a walk is the plan today. Kathy

Hi Ladies, hope all is well with everyone. It was a busy weekend, celebrating our 32nd anniversary, great nephew's 1st birthday, more good food with family & friends. Boy did I go off track with eatting these past few weeks. I gained back 4 lbs of the 12 I lost!! But....I am determined to get back in the groove again. The weather is starting to break & am motivated again to get on the right track. I'm going to starting keeping track of my calories on my phone again and increase my water intake. I think that will help.
Thanks for the well wishes for my shoulder. I got a NSAID injection for pain about 1 week ago & it does feel a bit better. I am scheduled for a MRI on the 10th & see him again on the 14th. He thinks it is a rotator cuff tear...will see. I also see my MO on the same day for a check up & blood work. Nothing like planning on having all the fun in the same day!! LOL
CookieMonster- Have a great school year!! I do miss working with the kids....but I love taking care of old people too! I actually had a patient last week who just had a bilateral mastectomy with TE & drains.....it was quite a visit with her. She was very encouraged to see me a little over 1 year out. I felt great to be able to help her in ways more than just my nursing skills could :-)
ATeamNana-Good luck getting back on track, we are here to encourage & be supportive. You ladies have meant the world to me.
Kindergarten-thinking about you often & know you are enjoying grandmotherhood!!! Keep up the good work on your exercising!
Rocket, so sorry for your loss.
-
Hi Ladies,
Thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers. We had a beautiful memorial service for my sister. I miss her dearly!
I have also had a lot of company visiting, so have been absent from the boards for a while. We have more company coming this weekend. I will start walking again, but we have had a lot of rain and all my joints hurt, not to mention that I don't like getting soaked. I'm such a whiner! I will get back to my exercise. I also found my Pilates book and will start that again too. I need to get motivated! -
Hi, Everyone!!!!! Tenaj, Happy Anniversary, and hope the MRI shows just a slight rotator cuff tear. That is great that you only gained 4 pounds, that will come off easiy. Rocket, so good to see you here and hope each day brings you peace and wonderful memories of your dear sister. I also wanted to mention that we did lose a wonderful BC Sister yesterday!!! Her name is Marybe. She was from Cincinnati, Ohio and she was truly a kind and compassionate woman who always helped and cared for others as she was dealing with this disease. She lived 14 years with mets. She was a fighter and an inspiration to many. God bless you all!!! Kathy
-
Kathy, I'm so sorry to hear of Marybe. I didn't have the privilege of knowing her, but she sounds like a wonderful person.
-
Hi everyone. Cookiemonster im sure you are getting lots of exercise just being back at school:). Tenaj hope you are getting some pain relief and get good test results on bloodwork.
Kathy - I did not know Marybe either but deeply sorry for her family's loss.
Rocket so sorry for your loss also.
I am getting over a sinus infection but other than that not much going on. I still have not jumped back into good habits but i will:)
Hopefully we can all find some inside exercise to jumpstart our motivation. We bought a swing dance DVD. That should be an experience. -
Swing dancing is great exercise and a lot of fun. I have lost 8 lbs so far, but want to lose another 12. I walked my two goldendoodles yesterday down my crazy steep road. WhenI returned on the way back up, I stopped at my mailbox and pretended to look at all my mail. I was really just trying to breathe without gasping. It's quite the workout!
-
Very funny Rocket.....how cute you have 2 goldendoodles!! I always wanted to have 2 dogs at once. I have been blessed to have 3 golden retrievers in my marriage. I now have a Labrador/chesapeake retriever and he is the most special one yet.
I too would like to loose another 12 plus pounds. I just started back on track. Congratulations on the 8lb loss, that is great!!
ATeamNana, hope you're sinus infection is feeling better. I've had them, they can be quite uncomfortable. Drinking lots of water is great for getting ride of the infection & it helps with the weight loss!! :-) thanks for the well wishes. I had my MRI yesterday & see the MD on Friday for the results. Lucky me I get to see my MO the same day. Nothing like getting the appointments out of the way!!
Hi kindergarten!! How's everything?? How is that sweet Lily? -
