Oh, he's definitely a keeper, HL. Tell him I say hello!
-
Our resident troll! Love it! Now shall we give it a name? On second thought...
-
Yorkie
naw, don't bother, it will only change....
-
HL - I thought that rule from whichever doctor said not to vacuum meant not ever again. It has been three years since I was told not to vacuum and I have faithfully followed orders (except for cleaning the car a few times).
-
The trick is to marry somebody who was single for awhile. I vacuum most of the time but I have to admit that hubby is really a better housekeeper than I am. When he vacuums he is thorough about it! Uses all the attachments and moves stuff and everything. I can't stand clutter of any kind and am relentless on that ... but I can do a darn good job of ignoring dust and fuzzies for awhile.
ETA ... darn Lassie ... I wish I had thought of that!
-
Men can clean when they are motivated - at least I firmly believe that.
I'm waiting for a doctor to say that I can't do any housework ever again. Waiting.
Blue - love the trony.
-
Just to get the remainder of troll out of our system, let's remember Our Elizabeth's Mantra:
"When in doubt, eat cake. When you haven't a clue, add ice cream."
We are invincible. Phuque any green haired rainbow neighing troll who tries to hurt anyone in this Pride.

Sunflowers, so true!

We are having a wildlife problem here in some areas around Seattle-aggressive raccoons, small bears, etc. and the advice from the experts is "Don't feed the wildlife-they will keep coming back and get more aggressive." I think the same could be applied here. I thought we were going to "ignore"?
Finger-wagging done.
Mary

In addition to ignoring, we are also going to serve Brussels Sprouts.
-
I LOVE HL's and the Wabbit's avatars!

When my husband said the vacuum was too complicated, I called him on it. I said didnt you just take a week pulling apart the carburetor and other stuff on your pet project car and put it back together? Now thats complicated.
Got a sheepish grin out of that one.
Have to keep ahead of dog hair here, 3 pugs that shed a lot.

Love the pictures Blue and Athena!! Good to have a laugh first thing in the morning.
My dh learned how to iron in the air force. He taught his 15 year old son (at the time) how to iron. The son irons his own clothes. It is not that my dh won't iron - he just works so hard all week long so it is something I willingly do for him.
Bathroom, vacuum, mop, yard work - well that is totally another story and would rather not give up my good mood from seeing funny pictures this morning. Oh yes.....has a major issue with stains on the driveway also. That must be a man thing but then 2 feet away the yard needs to be mowed and that isn't an issue?

OMG - I just took a closer look at HL's avatar and I am busting a gut!

Alexandria, I have De Quervain syndrome, too. It started as an injury this spring that caused microtears on the wrist end of my ECRB muscle/tendon. That's right beside the tendon sheath where the De Quervain's occurs. It's a usually chronic tendinopathy that occurs in mostly middle-aged women (argh! If I hear that one more time...)
I just finished 6 weeks of Occupational Therapy. I recommend it because you'll get a hard splint molded to your wrist and thumb that will allow the area to rest and not be injured as you sleep. Ice it several times a day. Take ibuprofen several times a day to help with the inflammation. As the pain recedes, start with stretching exercises. The two I did were prop my elbow up on the arm of my chair and use my other hand to gently press down on the back of my hand toward my wrist until I felt stretching (don't press to the point of pain!). The other involves propping your arm on a table or the arm of a chair so that your hand dangles off the edge. Make a fist with your thumb inside and use your other hand to gently push your hand in the direction of your pinky finger. This will stretch the wrist. Be very gentle with this one! If you push too hard, it can hurt like hell!
Once you've eliminated most of the pain, you can start strengthening exercises. I did wrist curls toward my elbow while holding a 1 lb. weight (a can of soup or a 16 oz water bottle make great substitutes), and then while standing with my arm at my side (still holding the weight), move my hand forward and backward.
-
Riley: I got a hard molded splint a month ago, and it hasn't really helped. How long did it take to resolve for you? I really am considering surgery. The doc here says that has a very high success rate.
-
A bottle of beer makes a good substitute for the water bottle or can of soup.
-
Four months. I'm not totally back to normal, but if it starts hurting, I start sleeping with the splint on again.
-
Do you drink the beer before or after the exercises?
-
Lassie - you drink the beer before - during - and after
-
I soooo wish there was a "like" button here.

OK, I'm up to speed now. Thanks, ladies!

Good Afternoon Everyone!
It's a beautiful day here. I've been working on my marketing all day and have really accomplished a lot. Just hope all the effort pays off.
I have an iron ... somewhere ... but don't use it. I used to iron for money when I was a little kid. Tim does lots of the chores around here. He knows how to vacuum too. What he doesn't do is anything that requires him to go outside! arghh. He showed me how to work the riding mower a few years ago, and ever since then, it's been my job.
Jancie .. Of my five acres, I think I have about half of it that is still wild ... mostly woods with lots of oak and maple trees and tons of blackberry bushes. It took me almost two years to clear the area that is now the fields. The grass looks beautiful ... like a city park. I have also cleared paths through the woods and that's where I walk my dogs every day. It's so much nicer on my own property than walking them down the road. Plus, I don't have to have Tank on a leash when we walk .. and he loves running around like crazy.
Lassie .. You made me laugh out loud! Sure do miss you. Hope I get to see you again one of these days.
Hope everyone is having a good day,
Bren

Hey Guys ... we missed Happy Libby's birthday last week! It was also her wedding anniversary.
Just wanted to wish Libby a late Happy Birthday.
love you,
Bren
-
Thanks, Bren! I love you back! I reached full retirement age (for my employer - years of service and age) and am now officially part of what we call the KMA Club. I'm not going to retire until next year at the earliest (unless they want to *]{^\|!~|\_+*!+¥ with my retirement), but it is nice to feel safe. And DH and I have been married for 13 years (together for 16).
Glad everyone likes my avatar -- I wanted to honor our friends in a difficult time a few weeks ago, and I've decided to keep it. I have another funny one up my sleeve for when we will need it.
XOXO all,
L -
The wonders a heating pad can do! Painfree for now.
I don't do much of anything except the cooking (sometimes) and the dishes, or should I say load the dishwasher. I'm very particular about bathrooms an kitchen so I usually clean them, but Ray does everything else. Of course I have to remind him! hahahahaha!
Not gonna sit for long as that seems to aggravate the back. ttyl
-
HL, I just looked at your avatar, so cool!! Really curious about what's up your sleeve, must be a goodie!

EDIT! Happy birthday and anniversary!!
-
((((Blue)))) I hope you get to feeling better. Chronic pain is a biatch to say the least.
-
still giggling at jancie's "when to drink the beer" post...good thing I still do my kegel exercises!
HL - I do love your avatar, and WELCOME to what a friend of mine who is also going to join me at our 50th highschool reunion next year calls "A Saturday Life" - which I now use, for when folks ask if I'm retired, I say I live ASL. Now, that DOES really date me, cuz only some people know that Saturday USED to be a relaxing, deliciously dowhatyouwanna kind of rest b4 the "offishul" sabbath. Jeez - I even remember when CT had blue laws..
Anyhow - I can say GOOD THINGS about Medicare - enjoy it while we still have it

HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY LIBBY BIRTHDAY

and anniversary
