Pressure Headache
I have had a headache every day for 6 days now. It started the day after my port surgery and 4th Taxol/Herceptin tx.
It is on the top/front of my head. It is excruciating when I bend over, cough , laugh or sneeze.
It was so bad last Friday, I made a trip to the ER. They did blood work, a CT scan and a Spinal Tap. Everything was clear.
They gave me medication for migraines, but this doesn't feel like a migraine. The light and noise does not bother me. Nor does it feel like a sinus or tension headache.
I am guessing it is medication related, which makes me sad because I have a long way to go. Has anyone experienced this?

I'm sorry that you are having such a headache. Also sorry that you had to endure all those tests but am very happy that nothing was found. I would say it is definitely medication related or possibly hormone imbalance related, especially if no medication is working to get rid of it. I think Herceptin can cause headaches. I had headaches after treatment when my hormones were out of whack. But I was fortunate in that I didn't have one headache while in treatment. Perhaps you should get some of the prescription nasal spray (flonax or something like this). My sister had a headache for a month and it was attributed to allergies. This nasal spray really helped her and it sounds like where your headache is may also be related to a sinus issue.

I was always told if you bend over and it gets worse then it's sinus. I have the same thing and won't even have any congestion or sneezing. I hope you get better soon.

Did they give you Decadron before and during the Taxol? I had headaches afterward, and they decided it was due to coming off the steroids. I asked for some Decadron to take so I could ease off it instead of the ramp up and sudden stop after the infusion. I slowed eased off the Decadron for 3 days after the Taxol infusion, and was able to avoid the headache.

I don't get steroids with my Taxol. Just Benadryl. I had an MRI and they have determined it is from the combination of medications from my Port Surgery, followed by Chemo. The headaches have been tapering off, so I've only had 2 in the past 3 days, which is great. It's all just scary when you know you have cancer, anything could change. Glad I have a cautious team.

LMF, I will take it as good news, since every other reason for any pain and ache is "good'', as long as it's not c-r. Hope the headache will subside with time and when you are done with chemo. Hang in there, it will be behind you soon and you will recover from SE. Good luck with the rest of your treatment...

Thank you so much. It's so nice to hear kind words, no matter the reason.
