I did. Nothing really outstanding tonight. Though I liked the first girl (Tiffany?) in the hip hop.
-
I thought there were a couple of really good numbers last night. I liked both of Mandy Moore's routines, and Emelia and Cyrus as the robot and the ballerina figure were amazing (Nappy-Tabs choreography). I also really liked Amber and Brandon's routine, although I'm not too surprised they were cut.
The number that made everybody cry -- I can't remember who the choreographer was on that. But the song was Whitney Houston doing "I Will Always Love You" ... for some reason that one struck me as just OK. Good, but nothing that I'll remember.

Overall it was an off night for me. Always love the opening numbers, even when sometimes they are just plain weird. Still love 'em! I was so happy to see Pasha (woot, woot) but Dareian and Janelle just did not connect to that number.I liked Cole and Lindsay in the Wild Horses contemporary. Lindsay bugged the you know what out of me cause I could never see her face. I know the floppy hair looks all angsty, but i would rather get some facial expressions.Didn't like Will and Amelia's routine, it just didn't flow right. But they are still two of my favs. Felt sorry for Matthew and Audrey, that salsa was horrible. Absolutely no hip action, Matt looked sooo stiff. Plus his hold was all wrong(oops a little too much DWTS!) Also wish they would stop the all red outfits. It looked horrible on Daniel andAlexa and it looked horrible last night. Too distracting.
Not sure either of the last two dances deserved standing O's. Witney and Chehon were pretty together and I thing Chehon is becoming one of my new favs. Witney did great for a Latin dancer. But they had the dramatic music on their side, hard not to get swept up into it. Love Nappy-Tab's robot ballerina routine. Eliana is spot on perfect even in hip hop. Cyrus has been lucky that they have "picked" dances that are mostly in his style. Can't wait to see him do the Waltz or comtemporary. I was surprised when Christina said she was concerned if he could handle other styles(good for her for saying it)and then Nigel says "I am confident you can do it" REALLY?? Not so cool playing favorites. I'm not wishing him to fail, but the other dancers are more skilled than him. And understanding that growth is something they look for, I just want to see GREAT dancing!
On that note, I have no idea who will be going home next time. Which i understand will be in 2 weeks!! WAHHHHHHH!!! and that 4 will go again? Have to double check that last bit of info.
-
So I finally get to watch and it'sa rerun? Lol
-
I was all pissy cause my oldest wanted to watch the Olympics. Really, don't you already know who won? : ) And then I switch during the commercial and see its a rerun. . . now I remember Cat saying that they would be back in two weeks and in her words "cause there is some silly sport thing going on". Didn't get it then, boy am I dumb!!
-
New show tomorrow night. Everyone set their DVR, TiIVI or your old school VCR.
-
I was lied to! It's a rerun tonight!
-
Heartbroken today. Our dancing pal, Reesie/Marie lost her battle with BC yesterday. Her heart may have given way, but her soul is up in heaven dancing away. May she find peace.
-
Hi girls...I'm a 61 year old SYTYCD fan...I've been watching since season too. These kids are incredible. So much better that the pros on DWTS.
I DVR, so I need to catch up..I still have two to watch. -
Soteria - you are lucky that you have to catch up. Most of us having been sitting here on pins and needles waiting for the next episode and those darn "athletic things going on" messed us up big time.
I don't like DWTS - I don't know why but maybe because of the lack of talent and the way the dancers are selected - just something about that show that ires me in a way that I can't really express.
I agree the young talent today - Oh MY!
Ok, think of me crazy but I was watching women's gymnastics on the Olympics - the floor exercise where they do have to perform some dance stuff and all I could think was if they threw in some contemporary moves their routines would be so much better.
-
WELCOME Soteria!! We are a small group, but LOUD! We love our dancers. I wish I could dance, have two left feet. Maybe that's why I love watching this. I truly appreciate the talent! And I agree, such a better show than DWTS! (even tho I do watch--just to criticize!!) It burns me up when ex-SYTYCD dancers become pros on DWTS and the judges rip them up for not following all the dance rules. At least they make it interesting!! Hurry up and watch all the shows, so you can watch Wednesday with us.

NEW SHOW TONIGHT!!!!! YAHOOOOOO!!!!
the "theme" of the night is previous dances choreographed by Mia Michaels. So seven dances of Mia's best, wonder what they will perform?? oooh I'm so excited!!!
-
For those who may have dvr'd and haven't seen it-----I'll stay away from the spoilers. It was good seeing the old Mia dances. No one can replace Travis, Twitch or Neil. I hate the new format--losing 4 dancers tonight was awful!!!
Next week, they break up the couples and they dance with All-stars. Wonder who is coming back. . .
-
I so agree with everything you said. Twitch, Travis, and Neil can't be replaced no matter what. They just have that certain sex appeal
I haven't seen it yet - going to watch it after my nightly walk but won't say anything as so to not spoil it for the others. Ya'll just let us know when you have watched it so we can chat!
-
Ok, so I watched it tonight - very good show but will keep my
until the others have seen it.
-
its so hard to hold my tongue. . .
-
Saw it last night. I think I can say this without spoiling it for people: the new format is a mess. So many rules it's hard to follow. Last night all the dancers danced, numbers were given for each so we could vote for our favorites, and then 4 are kicked off! So if we'd wanted to vote for them based on their dances last night, it was pointless! Doesn't make sense at all.
Did love the Mia Michaels routines, though. She's great. Although in *almost* every case I think the original dancers were better.
-
Just realized that Tiffany--George 's partner goes to college here in Orlando. Almost a hometown girl!

-
Wait, did I mention, TWITCH???????? woot, woot. Love, love, love Twitch!!

-
Got thru 1 hr but am too tired to continue.
-
I really do not like the new format. Do not like how they dance, and then get sent home. Wonder why FOX cut their format. Always thought their ratings were good for a summer show. And does the all-star stop dancing if his partner gets sent home? Or are they rearranging each week?
-
cmbear, I hate the new format! It's so weird to be told the numbers to vote for people, and THEN immediately after two people are kicked off! Doesn't make any sense at all. I wonder if they'll get complaints about it from viewers. As for the all-stars, they must rearrange them every week when people go home, or maybe they won't have all-stars dance in future episodes.
I missed the one routine last night that got a standing ovation. Won't say any more about it ...
-
Any one watch Last night? Most of the dances were excellent, don't think anyone stumbled--no pun intended. Was not crazy about opening dance. Seem very disjointed. Not good however when the allstar outshines the dancer--blame that more on choreography this week. And yes, I really hate this format. Icky-icky-poo-poo!!
-
Claire - I hate the format also but am glad that the judges can "save" - I don't know why Whitney ends up in the bottom. I didn't like her at first but she is talented and glad she is still around. I think the judges made the right decision but that is because it was also my decision
-
Seriously? Opening night of NFL tonight????? My DH OWNS the tv tonight--since he is a diehard Dallas fan. Will have to watch on tape delay. boo-hiss!
-
I missed the opening number because I was watching the DNC. Also missed a couple of other numbers, I think. Was glad about the results, though -- who's going to be in the finale.
