I can't believe I forgot to set up the DVR
-
its not too late---well that is if you are home. . . I'm so glad someone else watches this!! YEAHHH!!!
-
My favorite choreographer
and my second
-
Off to a good start!
-
I wasn't home Claire but thanks to you I had time to call my DH and get him to record it. I don't watch that "other" dance show because it pales in comparison. The dancing on here is awesome!
-
You are so right! So far it's been full of great talent, one or two sob stories, some real whack jobs !
-
OMG, did you see that little girl? So adorable!
-
She was just too precious ! I'm sure we will see her on that stage again!! The guy with the weird eyes creeped me out!
-
I'm a fan, too! Will be watching in an hour or so. Can't remember the name of my favorite choreographer (thanks, chemo brain) ... I think his name starts with a W, his dances tend toward the weird, sort of like Sonia up there. I also really like her stuff.
-
Boy, that last guy was a JERK! Can't believe what he said to Cat. Loser!
And of course, the final dancer had just the right of a sad story.
Etherize---- I am so glad you'll be watching along! -
Sorry I am coming in here late but I set the DVR and just finished watching it.
The guy with the weird eyes totally creeped me out.
Love the male ballet dancers - I think they will do great and they have the upper body strength for the lifts.
It is too bad the guy from Japan didn't stick around during choreography as I loved what he did but he was having problem with the lifts and so he would have gotten cut anyways in Vegas. Hope he works on his upper body and core strength and comes back next year.
So what did ya'll think about the exorcist guy? I loved his talent but the story behind the dancing just creeps me out. I have to admit he was good!
The 1920's flapper girl was cute.
As this show continues you will notice that I never remember any of their names - just how best to describe them
-
I am horrible with names too!! Once the top 10 start, I'll do better. I always wonder how much editing they do during the audition process to show back stories of the people who actually make it. I hate seeing the sad stories, getting all vested emotionally in their story and see them cut in Vegas. Absolutely love all the breakers and street dancers and it makes me sad that they rarely make it all the way. Can't wait till next week.
Just read that the format of the show has changed. There won't be a results show, so only one show a week. BOOOO!!! So they will all dance in week one, then America votes. they come back the next week(not knowing if they are in jeopardy from America's vote) and dance again. The judges will take both dances and Americas vote into account and then announce at the end of show two. So what the article didn't say is if there will only be voting every other week. Hmmmmm. Not sure it makes sense and to wait and see how they work it out. I can't believe Fox doesn't think this show is worthy of 2 episodes a week. boo hiss
My absolute fav is the opening group dance on results night. It has always been some of the BEST choreography! Hope they keep that in somehow. They also will have a male and female winner. Smart move, since they partner for the whole show, it seems logical to have two winners.
-
I agree, the opening dance number on results night is the best! The new format sounds a bit strange, but I'm glad there'll be a female AND male winner.
My favorite dancers are the hip-hoppers, pop 'n lockers, etc. The exorcist guy and the zombie guy (with the eyes) were weird but definitely talented. I'm glad they made it through.
-
Etherize, you mean Wade Robson? He hasn't choreographed in several seasons. I keep hoping he will come back, too.
I'm in. Been watching since the first season, first show.
The little girl was adorable, her Mom might make it because of her. I liked the blonde ballet guy, very manly.
-
That's right, Wade Robson! I'm glad I got one letter of his name, at least! ;-) Yeah, I'm bummed that he hasn't been around much recently. Maybe this season he'll do some routines. I've been watching since the first show, too -- it's one of my favorite shows on TV.
-
I like how that other show uses the dancers from this one as the professionals.
-
Went to see Dark Shadows today, don't bother. But there was a preview for Step Up #?, and Katherine from SYTYCD is the star of the movie. Will probably Netflix it, I am fond of my SYTYCD alums.
I think she lost to Russell, the street dancer. I have not heard anything from him since.
-
I have last nights show taped but not allowed to watch it until dh gets home as he wants to also see it. I was so tempted to watch it!
So which dancers stood out for you last night?
-
So many! Last night was a great audition night, with lots of funny and surprising moments. Some really good dancers too, they were in LA.
-
I watched the Phillies then the Devils/Kings last night but DVR'd SYTYCD. Will watch it tonight.
-
Ok, feeling a little guilty about not watching the show on Wednesday (at my parents and we watched Hatfield and Mccoys) Plus stupid me thought it was on Thursday night. Good thing i had DVR'd it for the series. Pheww. And glad that I wasn't the only one not watching it on real time. Once the show gets past Vegas, it will be time to get down and be serious. Make myself available on Wednesdays!
Alot of good tryouts this week, not too many nasty ones. Think that is one reason why I like this show, they concentrate more on the talented tryouts not as much on the goof balls. Really liked the girl that did the pole dancing during her preview. She already has worked for Cirque, what would be her next step? I loved the twins, what a couple of characters. I see them on their own reality show some day soon. Too funny. Amazing they spent so much time on them when they knew that they were too old. Guess it was purely for the entertainment factor. Also loved the guy with his circle wheely thing a ma jig. It was incredible to watch, too bad he could not convert that to the other styles of dance. And as always, they always save the tear jerker and best dance of the night for the final dance. That mom must be so awfully proud to have such talented kids. I hope they make it thru. I know there is more, but I didn't take notes so don't remember them all. What did y'all like? Who has potential?
-
still haven't watched. Came home last night and was in such pain (back) that I soaked in hot tub and went to bed. Hope to watch tonight.
-
some of my favs from this week
-
Ok a little pissy cuz the image downloader is not working. PPHHllaatt!!!!
-
AWWW, reesie, I am sooooooo sorry that you are in pain. Hope some happy dancing makes you feel better. Keeping you in my thoughts!
-
Claire - Since I can't seem to figure out how to post pictures - let's just say I totally agree with your two selections!
DH can't stand Mary's screaming but he wanted to watch the auditions and he agreed it was a waste of time watching the twins since they were too old but heck......I thought they were funny as heck - a little bit too feminine for me and I am sure that is part of their act.
I love the circle thingamajig guy. I didn't think he would make it past the audition but that was some talent he was displaying.
Now I have to wait another week for another episode??? Wish they would air this more than once a week.
-
DD watched with me, which was fun. She hasn't watched in years because she is an extremely talented dancer and felt she would never make the show because she is not skinny enough. She isn't dancing these days, so I guess she can bear to watch it again.
We loved the Ninja twins. They do need their own show, stat! They seem sweet as well as funny, would be a nice change from the likes of the Kardashians.
Thought the sister was so good, and so pretty. DD kept telling her to wipe the lipstick off her chin, didn't do any good. The pole dancer's body is incredible, we need to take that up! Loved the blonde ballet dancer pictured above. Eye candy for this season, but where are the gorgeous ballroom guys? They showed a little bit of one cutie, maybe in the previews?
-
Ooh Diana you are so right! No hunky ballroom dancers. Hopefully the guy they showed in preview for next week will be a contender. What kind of dance does your daughter do? I hope she goes back to it somehow, just for the fun of it.
Jancie-totally agree--I can't figure out why they cut it down to one show a week. It can't cost that much to produce. It's on during the summer when there is little competition and if I remember right, it usually gets pretty good ratings. Stupid FOX.
Etherize, have you been watching? Reesie, I hope you are feeling better!!
-
The only thing my daughter didn't do was ballroom. DH and I were competitive C&W and West Coast Swing dancers (pro level), so I think she never wanted to do something her parents liked. She did everything else, and is an amazing choreographer. You know how they were talking about the street dancer that felt every nuance of the music, and should be a choreographer? That's my DD. She was the only student to ever choreograph a group piece for her performing art school's recital - contemporary. I do really hope she returns to it someday. She is more talented than I ever was.
On a side note, we used to go to workshops that Buddy Schwimmer put on in CA. We met Benji, Heidi, and Lacey when they were little kids. So it was fun to see them on the show.
-
How cool Diana! I am so impressed! I love to watch dance because I have two left feet. It amazed me how people can move one foot in front of the other so easily---I would just trip!
I love watching the whole Schwimmer family. What a talented family. Also like seeing Lacey on DWTS. She has so much spunk!
