Rib pain beginning during Taxol

Ok. I'm really obsessing over this. I started having some tenderness (almost feels like a bad bruise) in the lower right rib area (opposite BC side) after my BMX, during Taxol. My PET scan was clear. The pain started during Taxol TX. After a month or more, when it didn't let up, my MO ordered rib detail x-rays. The x-rays showed a 'possible' hairline fracture and mild sclerosis. Nothing to worry about, according to the MO. I am now five weeks PFC and the same pain is still there. No change - not worse, not better. Then, of course, I googled rib sclerosis (bad idea, by the way) and scared myself all over again. I know the doc says it's nothing, but I'm beginning to really wonder why it isn't getting better. But, I've noticed on here a lot of other women complaining about rib pain either during chemo, after BMX, or at some point during treatment. I don't know. Just wondering everyone else's thoughts on the subject. Am I over-obsessing?

Did it resolve immediately after finishing Taxol, or did it take a few weeks?

I had I too...and it did go away. I had a sono done of my gallbladder etc thats how bad it hurt. But everything was fine and MO just said it was a freak side effect and it was.

Lana, I had it too recently, though my taxol was a lot before, so I don't know if that was the reason. It went away on its own after couple of weeks. Are you probing and poking the sore part often? Because I noticed it was getting worse with it. I stopped doing it and it was gone very soon. Hope you get rid of the pain very soon too.

Just came back to this site and read this post. I, too, am having the same issues with the pain in the rib of the breast I had removed. It feels like a compression type of pain. I wear a mastectomy bra with a prothesis and I thought it might be too tight but now that I hear others have had the same thing, I feel a little better(?) and will address this with my onc. dr. at my next taxol treatment Oct 1st. I am currently on week 8 of 12 weeks of taxol, having 8 weeks of dose dense AC treatment under my belt. Made it thru the AC fairly well and am having more fatigue with taxol than before. This crap ain't for wimps, is it!!!!!

I am just finishing 12 weeks of Taxol/Herceptin treatment (diagnosed in March - immediate lumpectomy 3a - HER2 + - PET scan clear/good margins - immediately treated with 4 Adriamycin/Cytoxan and then with targeted Taxol/Herceptin) - and just before my second to last treatment the rib cage pain started under the healthy breast and the corresponding shoulderblade. I have never had it before, so I immediately thought of a chemo side effect. Pain is very powerful and I have taken Motrin and Valium because it feels like a severe muscle soreness - can't wear any type of bra, only elastic cotton camisoles with no bands -  more than bone pain. I will see my oncologist today before treatment and will ask about these pains - especially since I'm going to start radiation in one month and they are supposed to worsen after radiation. Given my early state, operable, treatable, non-metastatic cancer diagnosis, and since I have been on continuous treatment  for 6 months now, I doubt it can be anything related to any new recurrence, but rather to toxic substances accumulated during 6 months of treatment. At least, this seems the most sensible explanation, even if we all know that whatever we think we know it's uncertain and unknown in this journey.
