The dumbest things people have said to you/about you

SAS thank you for the wonderful compliment. As I work these days so much is changing & fast. Nurses & Aides are so often pushed to the limit. Working with each other is how it should be! I would of liked to work with you as well!
-
Well you gals gave me plenty to think about. I left a message for the pre op nurse to call and haven't heard back. Yes, two different anestigiologists. There were two surgeons. They couldn't get ahold of the first surgeon so they called the second, which happened to be his partner.

Hey you all. I have a blog talk radio show and am going to pursue this topic. Sort of like "what not to wear" but instead, "what not to say" to cancer patients. If you'd like to share something mean/funny/weird somebody said off your chest, or give advice on what people should say, call in and talk to me! http://www.blogtalkradio.com/butdoctorihatepink. It will be Monday at 2:00 California time. The number is 347-215-7838.
It's just for fun, the only people who listen are cancer patients (mostly my friends in the stage IV area) so you don't have to be nervous.
It's about 20 people.
I'm hoping to build up a listenership to keep myself busy as I just quit my job but it's really just for fun - no money involved. So, come talk!
-
Coolbreeze-----Well that made this site go dead......our words here are as private as they could be. Granted it was an invitation by you that you have chosen to do. Those that will be involved will contact you. Otherwise not. My only contact with you was, the only negative contact with anyone on BCO. My only regret was a newbie that you gave so much misinformation to that I wasn't willing to respond too b/c I didn't want to do battle with you. I hoped she would go beyound your misinformation. I hope she has. I have few regrets over the years regarding people, that one young newbie was one. Hope you have mellowed.
-
WTH? I've always enjoyed CoolBreeze's posts. They are funny and informative and I think she's quite 'mellow' as is. I don't know the history between you two, but don't think your attack was necessary or appropriate for this topic. JMHO.
-
I feel like I've missed something? I agree with riley. That was completely uncalled for.
-
I'm certainley not getting in the middle of some long standing fued. Can we please return the thread to what it has been please.
-
Yep.
Aquaintance "Wow, isn't that a bit aggressive?"
Me "Yeah, I guess they want me to live."
(Noted the info coolbreeze)
-
herstrong--I'm deleting all my responses to you . I meant that info to help you. I won't have it used by someonelse for their own agenda Too bad there was allot of info in that material was useful to others. Tens of thousands of procedures are done daily ---safely following all the guardrails. In your case that didn't happen good luck
-
Adey --hope my info or Herstrongs or anyone else posting here was not what you had noted to coolbreeze b/c it is the intellectual property of BCO.
Since anyone has no idea what info Adey has decided to note to coolbreeze, I would suggest that all comments be reconsidered b/c your words could be changed , used out of context and since coolbreeze has no ethics unless you are a follower be careful as to what you say. She chose to come here only when a discussion was going on a very serious issue and whats the dirt.
-
Wow sas. I believe "noted the info" meant she made a note as to when the radio show was going to be and the info about it. That's what I got out of it anyway.
I also believe "since coolbreeze has no ethics" is a personal attack and not allowed?
Can we please stop this and let the thread return to what it was? This was one of my faves. Sad to see this kind of thing happen on any thread.
-
I agree with stormynyte -- let's move on from this back to what the thread is for. Somewhere something was taken out of context ---
-
Also agree that a personal attack on CoolBreeze is not appropriate anywhere, and dislike your hijacking of a light-hearted thread where we can vent and provide each other with "Ooh, wish I'd thought to say that at the time" answers. I'm reporting your post as this is the second time you have gone after her after being asked to stop.
-
Riley -- let's move on ....
Everyone, enough is enough -
As 5 people are needed to remove a remark, please don't single me out because I was the only one to openly say I was reporting the post. I was TRYING to get the thread back on target by removing the "fight" so we COULD move on. I feel your remark was unnecessary. We're all adults and don't need to be scolded.
PS - Declaring I was reporting the post was NOT meant to taunt or stir things up - just the opposite. I'm in the habit of openly declaring I'm reporting a post after a thread that I frequently post on was the target of anonymous "drive-by" deletions. After appeals for those reporting to declare themselves, and since the posts deleted were later reinstated for having not broken any rules, we began openly declaring when we reported a post, in an attempt to be transparent in a way those attacking us were not.
-
this used to be so funny.........
why are people staring at my boobs? I feel like when I was pregnant, and people stared at my belly
-
I am not scolding anyone ... I just want to move on ... This is a great thread and let's keep it going.
-
Stormy- Thanks, I guess I missed something and yes that is what I meant.
Dumbest things....... Did they get it all? So, you're done now, right? Those are classics. In my particular situation I went from fully expanded TEs to flaps and you can feel the "hug difference". The confusion is amusing. (c:
-
LOL Shayne - Hopefully no one feels like they need to touch like they do when you're pregnant!
-
It is and will be funny again, Shayne. How about a repeat of some of our "favorite" stupid remarks, for the benefit of the newer posters here?
I remember one lady being horrified when a coworker seeing her new boobs for the first time, actually started to reach out and grab them!
Barbe, was it you who had someone ask whether you'd 'lost' your breasts, and you replied, "Why? Did you find them?"
-
Double post - sorry!
-
Me too Shayne. They totally want to touch the boobs! But generally won't unless asked, the bald head, now that's another story! (c:
-
OMG! I think a bitch-slap would be in order if someone touched my boob (esp since the one still kinda hurts)!!
I had one well meaning acquaintance ask if I was all better now? Well........thats the million dollar question!!
-
I always find it silly when I tell someone that I have BC, and their eyes drop instantly to my chest.
Do these people react the same way when a man says he has testicular cancer?
:-p -
Nobody wants to look at balls.......lol!!!
-
How about the "you look great!" when on steroids and bald from chemo, and no boobs.
I wanted to ask really? So what are you comparing me to here- cause this ain't my finest day!
But I know they meant well, were at a loss of what to say or I was better than they imagined. -
apparantly we all looked like s**t before I guess. I hear that everyday..."oh you look so amazing" the part of the sentence they leave out is "for someone who just went through cancer treatment". Complete strangers think it is ok to ask such personal questions. Why is that? I have no problem answering questions that may help other down the road if they are ever faced with this monster but DO NOT ask me questions about how big my boobs were before or how big I am going to get em when I get em back.
Maggie
-
Now I'm wondering if someone told me they have testicular cancer if I would inadvertently look in that direction.
-
I never looked at Lance Armstrong that way.......LOL!!
-
Good one, Shayne! LOL His chest in that tight riding jersey always drew my eye, until he dumped his wife for Sheryl Crow! Yuck. Bad Lance!
