So my sons decide they want to watch the Count of Monte Cristo tonight. Really?? So I'm just now watching it.
-
Did you vote? FOUR dancers going home next week!!
-
Once again DH got to bed too late to watch the show - being that it is 2 hours long and he can only watch for about one hour and then falls asleep so I am on hold until tomorrow night
-
I voted on line, once for Whitney and once for Nick because they had bad slots and I am partial to ballroom dancers. I know my other favorites are going to be fine. I gave up after two votes, it was going wonky on me.
-
Interesting pairing of dancers last night. And as always,if you get a good choreographer, like Sonya or Travis, you will be remembered. That said, I don't thing there were any duds last night, but definitely some highlights. I won't spoil it for those that haven't watched, but I really liked Will and Amelia, Lindsay and Cole and Audrey and Matthew. Oh there is a big surprise in the future family category--won't spoil that one either!
-
CMbear, I watched the show and don't know what you are talking about. Family category? Was that an announcement Nigel made when talking about National Dance Day, because I fast forwarded through most of that section?
-
Awe Diana, I was talking about Tabitha!
-
I admit I didn't vote last night. Too tired to bother with memorizing the new phone numbers. I think my favorites will be fine, though. As far as choreography, I was impressed by Shawn Cheeseman's two numbers. They really had me nervous for the dancers, because they were so risky and challenging. But really exciting dancing.
I won't say more so as not to spoil it for Jancie.
-
What a great show!!! My favorite was the remake of the titanic story. I am so brain dead from my horse show today that I can't even think of who did the choreography. My least favorite was the "pink" routine. Loved Cyrus - he really has showmanship. Too bad his partner was overshadowed by him - I hear she is great but didn't get to really see her talent in that routine.
Will write down some more thoughts tomorrow when I actually find my brain.
-
Hi guys. Finally got to watch the show the other night. Been having some pain/treatment issues. Been lurking though (and wallowing). Won't be home for a while I guess to watch then on DVR but will try to keep current.
Thanks for checking on me Claire.
Haven't watched the pre-top twenty shows yet but thought this one was great. I agree - the titanic one was awesome.
Well look forward to next week too. -
YEAH!!! Marie's here, and Jancie has watched we can recap and dish all we want. Question Jancie: what was the pink number? Daniel and Alexa? My tv had their outfits as red--but I found them very distracting--took my mind off the dance. Witney had a pink ballroom dress on for her salsa with Chehon( he was in B/W). I thought they did a good job even if Chehon's knees did bow out.George and Tiffany lucked out by having a Sonja routine at the beginning. Very beautiful. I think George might be one of my favs. Brandon and Janaya did Nap/Tab's hip hop routine about drinking/alcohol. Kept thinking that if someone else like Twitch and Katee or Travis and anyone had done it, it would have been memorable. Amber and Nick were beautiful in the waltz, but its hard to get votes for ballroom dances. I'm curious to see Amber develop. Amelia and Will's cat routine was sexy hot and I just think Will is so cute. I just want to pinch his cheeks when he gets embarrassed. Janelle and Dareian did a great job with the Cheesman's African inspired dance. Curious to see how the belly dancer grows in dance style. I agree the Cyrus outshown Eliana--I think his smile is just infectious. He isn't however, hitting every step, so it'll be interesting to see him progress and learn the various styles. And again, Audrey and Matthew lucked out and got a Travis routine that was dreamy and romantic. It didn't hurt that the jumps were all timed with the angst of the song. Were they that good or was the routine and music just stellar? And I loved, loved, loved the final paso doble with Cole and Lindsay. I know its her style but they worked off each other so well and he was perfect with her. I kept thinking of all the pasos I have seen on that OTHER dance show and thought "this is how you do it!!" Beautiful.
Truly does matter who you have as a choreographer. Everyone remembers the dramatic and romantic. Sex sells--like the cat routine and the Titanic dance. Unforgettable for me? I would say Brandon/Janaya's hip hop and Daniel/Alexa contemporary. Also think Amber, Nick andChehon, might be in danger. Can't believe they are getting rid of 4 this week!!!
-
I guess their costumes were red - to me it looked like hot pink but then again our TV is OLD and the color fades on it at times.
Love, love, love Travis Wolf! I can't believe he is so young yet he is such a great choreographer.
I agree that Cole and Lindsey did a great job but then again I don't know much about that dance style so I can't even begin to critique it.
The cat routine was sexy and not one to forget.
I don't think it is right that they are getting rid of 4 dancers this week! Just so not fair because it is hard to figure out who is amongst the best after only one show.
-
Yeah, this new format will be interesting to see. I do like that there will be a best female and best male dancer, though.
-
Anyone watching tonight?
-
Well I'm not going anywhere tonight so I have it on. Just hope I don't fall asleep
-
Once again my boys put me behind! I'm about 10 minutes behind. So far so good. I love Sonya!!!
-
Matthew is just too darn cute!
-
Can't believe I just saw a Christopher Scott routine I didn't like.
-
Wow, the bottom six just called out-- no pauses, no teases. And no dances for your life. Or Dancing in their own styles. Wow. Big change. Holding my judgement till later.
-
I do wish we could see more solos! With the new format they have to cram everything into one night. They could skip the guest dance routines, I think. Even though it's always nice to see Twitch again.
Sad. Daniel got the short end as far as partner/choreography. They were criticized for not having chemistry in the bathtub routine. Very hard to have chemistry to elevator music. He was my eye candy for the season, maybe because he looks a little more mature? I don't see how the two ballet guys wound up in the bottom, though Cheon had a tough routine last week. This week too.
And I feel bad for Janaya too, she didn't really have a chance. She did a good job with her routine last night. How many contemporary girls are left now? Still bunches, right?
Loved the foxtrot, they did great!
Worried about my girl Witney. Bollywood does not exactly reel in the voters. Guess I should have actually voted.
-
Marie, hope you stayed awake to see the show Wednesday. Did anyone record it for you in case you missed it? Jancie, Etherize have you seen it yet?
-
I whizzed through it the other night - just watched the routines but didn't listen the judges comments. Going to watch it again later.
Loved the bathtub routine but agreed that there is just no chemistry there between Alexis and Daniel? That could have been such a great routine if the right dancers had been selected for it.
Remember Twitch and the brunette that did the routine with the door years ago? OMG - they were wonderful and they had chemistry - it was oozing all over the place.
Alexis on the other hand doesn't seem to show any passion, etc. She is good technically but that isn't going to cut it and I was glad that she was chosen to leave.
-
Jancie, I so agree about Alexa. All that yelling at her in Vegas, and after one dance they put her thru?? She was so inconsistent there, just seems someone else with more consistency could have taken her place. Too bad. Also too bad that Daniel got sucked into her web and booted with her. Never got to see what else he could do. Twitch's door routine I could watch over and over, that and Travis and the park bench, Mark and Chelsie's Bleeding Love routine. Oh don't get me started. I also think it was a shame that Nick got ballroom both weeks--even tho that is his specialty, no one got to see him step out of his comfort zone. And the sad thing is the voters rarely put ballroom people thru unless they have tons of sex appeal. and he seemed a little low on that--to me.
-
I saw it the other night and I agree that Nick was low on the sex appeal. As far as getting voted through, it seems to me that at least half the battle is personality. A less-than-stellar dancer can get through almost to the very end if s/he has a great personality and shows it.
I feel sorry for Alexis/Alexa? because she's probably just one of those people who doesn't show her emotions readily -- maybe she's shy (even dancers can be shy!) or who knows what. But that's the kiss of death, being unable to show emotions and have a certain perkiness that the audience loves. That's why somebody like Cyrus can go so far -- of course he's phenomenal in his own style, but it's his personality that's keeping him in the running.
-
I love it when they show some of the old routines and I had totally forgot about the park bench one! Mark and Chelsie's bleeding love routine - OMG - they breathed at the same time together. Now that is the emotions that the judges want to see - totally with one another throughout the routine.
It is sad that Alexa (Alexis) got the bathtub routine because that was a routine that would live on for years and years if the right people were dancing it.
-
Claire, I was able to stay awake and watch. I have to say that I agree on the "gones" but I'm not sure what this weeks voting was for. I'm so confused (maybe it's the new brain mets lol).
And I think they all should still get to "dance" for their lives if they're in the bottom. Their pairing and routines aren't their fault and sometimes that can be what holds them back. -
Marie, I had that concern too.I'm just as confused as you. I even went on their website to see if they say how many are going this week, etc, and nothing. Did Nigel say at the end of the show, and I just wasn't listening?
After this week's dances I would not have put Janaya in the bottom. But I guess the hard thing is they are all so talented, it just depends who gets the crappy choreography for the week. I didn't like Christopher Scott's routine with Dareian and Janelle. It just didn't show them off well at all. Kinda thought they would have saved Daniel over Chehon. Now my big wonder is how many go home this week. Hope they are back to two, otherwise the show will be over WAY TOO SOON!!!!

a link where the judges TRY to explain the new format.
-
Did anyone watch tonight?
-
Not yet - but give me a little bit. Wanted to play on the computer first.
