    Inmate...you rock!!

fishinurse...congrats on the baby grandbaby soon to come.  I always got the wicked throat pain too...think it comes from neulasta cuz had it for all 8 treatments.  Should only last a couple of days . Keep your chin up.  You can do this!

Luvrving--love the baby pic...so awesome that you are sharing with us.

Just had 2 spots biopsied on my back.  Here's to hoping it is not melanoma.

wondering about Minxie now and glad you checked in Lovely...we get sad when a sister goes AWOL

    Fishinurse,

Congrats on the grand son! Wonderful news can certainly make your day.

I had thrush 4 times! That stuff is nasty. Tried three different treatments plus homeopathic stuff. Fifteen days of Diflucan worked best. Also, if you get mouth sores, ask for a scrip for magic mouthwash. It's a pharmacy compounded blend of malox, benedrill and peptobismol. Numbs your mouth and throat and heals things up quick!

Funny thing yesterday, I had to tweeze a stray eyebrow hair! Still have 12 eyelashes but brows seem to be coming back!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Mags - what kind of spots did you have biopsied?  On your back?  I have lots of them especially in my back these days as I get older.  How did you notice these new spots appear?

Additionally, I have a brown spot appear on my nose, which is really obvious.  It is kind of dark and sometimes gets darker other times lighter.  It is really scaring me.  But I know that during menopause many women get dark patches on their face. I have another lighter, larger dark patch near my ear, and I have seen that in a lot of other women.  But now, I am so scared about this spot on my nose.  I should get this checked.

I heard on the news that maybe melanoma is getting to be a bigger threat for women than breast cancer.  Is this true?  Did anyone else hear this?

I hope both our spots are just liver spots or something.

Hi everyone, hope you're all doing well.

Inmate, thanks for sharing your photos. You are very brave and such an inspiration. I know helps so many of us to see your photos.

Lovelyface, so glad to see you post again. We missed you.

Anybody heard from Hope60? I'm sending her good vibes.

I've had a lipoma on my back for at least 20 years and I finally decided to see about getting it removed.  So, a month ago I got up the nerve and saw my GP about it.  I got a call yesterday with an appointment with the specialist and it turns out I'm seeing the same surgeon who removed my breast cancer.  It's going to be strange seeing him on Tuesday for this.  It's such a complete contrast from before as this is totally voluntary. Wish me luck!

Annie and Bernie- thanks for the laughs!

Fishin- how exciting! Now that's something to look foward to. Hope the thrush leaves soon.

Lovely - keep us posted on your spots. I hope they turn out to be nothing.

Sugar - I hope all goes well on Tuesday.

    ---

I have to leave at 2am to get my kid to the airport. Now, where did I put that Ritalin? Airport is 2 hours away.

FernME-I started the same cocktail 3 days ago and so far so good.  I have been able to control the nausea with the meds.  I was a little more tired today and my legs are a little achey but not bad.  Last week before I started was worse with the fear.  My scalp has gotten a little tender when I brush my hair bu,t as of now, no hair loss, I am sure that will be soon.  When I went in for the treatment I cried the entire time.  My onco came in and said take a picture of this because you will look back and realize that is was not as bad as you thought it was going to be.  Fear is a powerful emotion, drink a lot of wine and chill, it will all be ok and over soon.

Lovely...there was a spot on my shoulder blade area that when my hubby was rubbing my back about a month ago he felt. It was a little scabbed over.  A few days later I noticed it had not changed much and was still scabbing over.  So when I went for my 3 mo follow up I had the onc look at it and she sent me to a dermatologist who did the whole body check.  She found another spot that she also wanted checked down on my back near the spine.  My mother had melanoma a few years ago so I try to be careful in the sun but realize that as a kid I did some serious damage to my skin by living at the beach most of the time.  If it bothers you i would go get it checked.  At this point I have used up my deductible haha

browerl THANKS . . . we are sisters - same diagnosis . . .looks like, anyway . . . I had bilateral mastectomy/no reconstruction on 5/7 and have spent the past 10 weeks figuring all this out . . . keep me posted . . . my PRE-surgery day(s) were THE WORST . then surgery/recovery was NOT bad at all . . VERY tolerable . . so I'm hoping and praying . . . going to the beach tomorrow for a week - - I am going to attempt to CHILL out the whole time and enjoy my family and the water and sun . . . and if I cry the whole time that first day, I'll just think of you . . . . let me know how things progress . . you are 2 weeks ahead of me, you'll be done 2 weeks ahead of me.

FirnMe-I just started the same chemo as you on Tuesday, knock on wood it has not been bad.  I am really blown away about how this has gone.  I know it has not been very long but I feel great.  The meds have kept my stomach in check.  The day I got my treatment I cried the entire time.  My onco came in and sat with me she said "take a picture of this day because you will look back and realize it was not that bad".  Last week was way worse for me just because of the fear.  My advice would be have some wine and chill you can do this and I will do it with you.

    Hello ladies-

New to this site.  I was dx on 6/20/12 with IDC TN grade 3 1.7cm.   BMX surgery planned for August.  The info you have been providing has been wonderful.  I have been worrying about the next few weeks and then chemo, but your views have given me a great understanding of what is going to happen.  You ladies are an inspiration and brave to tell it like it is.  No sugar coating.

Inmate - thank you for the pictures.  You don't know how much I appreciate seeing those.

    Tookybum,

I didn't even think about the mastectomy scars when posting the pics.  Right after my Mx I whipped off my shirt to show my brother-in-law.  I have known him since I was in 4th grade and didn't want him to think of me as hurt/different or weak in any way.  So, like a bandaid, I ripped it off and said "see, it's not so bad".  Talk about deer in head lights.  Poor guy, I may have ruined him.

    Luv.......awwwwwww what a cute baby!

Inmate, I had to laugh when I pictured your brother-in-law's reaction to your little "display". I remember how my nephew reacted when my Mom whipped off her wig without any warning - of course, he was only around 16.

But, thank you for sharing your pictures with us. I think it is very helpful for those about to go through the surgery to know what to expect.

I hope that you have a complete recovery from the skin mets and never have to deal with this FC again. You've gone through more than your share. It's time to get on with your new future.

Thanks so much Doreen.  Did your nephew recover?  16 is such a delicate age for boys.  Well, 16-30 are really delicate years for boys.

The neighbors are having a Quinceanera party tonight.  It started out with lots of mexican polka and digressed to hip hop with a little ACDC thrown in.  Oh the modern 15 year old birthday party.

    Love to you all!

Ladies-- hope everyone had a good night. I am sad today that my son has to go home to FLA tomorrow. Have really enjoyed seeing him on the sofa next to me! Hate that I felt so bad, I didn't leave the house, yet. Twisted the arms of DH, & DS to have dinner out with DD & family (grand kids 4 & 5) on Friday. We r all going to her house this afternoon & have dinner later. I may hang out on her sofa, while they swim in neighborhood pool. Or, if I can manage the heat, go down & watch for a while. This Taxotere has been hard on me--still taking oxycodone at night so I can sleep. Bone pain, especially knees & shins, is really bad. Don't know it my osteoarthritis made the pain strike there, or not. But, felt like I had to force my brain to tell the legs how to walk for a couple of days. Weird!

Trying to force the looming thyroid issue to back of mind--focusing on getting rid of SE's for a weekend trip to Chicago next weekend. Going with grand kids (& their Mom & Dad!) for a pre-kindergarten BIG CITY adventure. Squeezing in fun times between chemo is a needed goal, don't you agree?

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, everyone.

GMA- I don't remember seeing if you are getting the Nuelasta shot after treatment. If you are, it is probably the source of your bone pain. Are you taking a combination of Claritin and A pain reliever? It really helps! I hope you get to enjoy your family time!

    Hello Dear Ones,

HMP12- welcome! So sorry you have to begin this journey, but we'll all help you anyway we can. And believe me when I say, you can ask us ANYTHING!

LuvB - sorry you are sad over your son leaving. Hope you had a great visit. Your visit to Chicago soundsike fun. Standing on the glass platform off of the Sears tower is on my bucket list :0 I am terrified of heights!

Inmate - I hope the party didn't go on for too long.

I am still working on my car trip up North. We're tent camping - oh freaking joy! My MIL has a 6 bedroom house on the water in E. Boothbay ME and I have to camp! MIL is 85 and my evil SIL lives with/off her. It gets into the 50's at night and if it rains, I may go ballistic! Anyone have a basement around there I could camp in?

    * Note to self - refill Ativan

HMP  Welcome to this band of sisters.  Sorry you have to be here, but we are all about support, as you can tell.  Keep in touch and we'll cheer you along.

Inmate  Thanks for being a role model for so many sisters.

Cocker Annie  Where  are you?  I miss your daily messages.  I've been concerned about your hands and hope hope hope you are just out having fun with the old feller and his cafe.

My best thing recently was the several days I was able to spend with the grandkids.  They alone make cancer worth fighting.

I see MO Tuesday for a 3 month follow-up.  My list of questions and anxiety is growing.

Prayers to the people of Colorado.  And to all of you in treatment.  Jan

Inmate - "16-30 are really delicate years for boys" and 31-60 are really delicate years for men.

I posted the story of my Mom and her wig late last night and I have to blame chemo-brain for the fact that I forgot to mention that she was going through chemo and was bald at the time - adds a little something to the picture, doesn't it?

Want to hear something sad (well, pathetic, anyway)? Last night I DREAMT my hair was growing back in. I'm 5 weeks past my last chemo treatment so I guess I have a few weeks to go. The good thing is my hair was growing in brunette, unlike the grey it's actually going to grow in.

Congrats to everyone with new babies in their lives or soon to be - that's what it's all about, right?

Good luck to everyone having treatments this week or dealing with SEs.

    Doreen
