LuvRVing,
Congratulations - what a beautiful baby!
Inmate, thanks for posting the picture. Are you going to be able to get into the vaccine trial? Is it a MUC trial? I've read about two separate ones - one with Dr. Joseph Baar that is active and I think the other one is opening 2013 possibly - UGA and Mayo clinic.

Inmate, thanks for the pictures. I'd like to see the after pic, too.
C_S, your joke reminds me of one from years ago in the hospital where I work. Lots of the nurses seemed to be pregnant at the same time, and some befuddled person made the old joke, "Must be something in the water." EXCEPT they messed up and said "There must be something in the air." Quick as a flash, someone said, "Legs." After we stopped laughing, we had to explain it to the befuddled one.
-
Inmate: thank you so much for being so open with us. I too would love to see the after pictures... as Cocker said, it may help us at some point. thanks again, you really are an inspiration. You go girl !!
Cocker: great joke - ha ha ha !!
Ks: woohoo for clear scans.
To the ladies on their first round... still hoping any SE's are minimal.
GuyGirl... great news for you and your sister.
NavyMom: happy to hear you finally got some much needed rain. I am just on my way to water my flowers... will be reaching about 109 here today again !!
Here's wishing you all happy days with lots of love and laughter. Take care. -
well la
dies, i told you i would gladly take my top off if anyone asks so here goes. -
Inmate: You are one warrior - thank you so much for being open and honest which may help anyone of us down the road. And still you smile. Sending you love and hugs and positive healing vibes xxxx
-
Inmate: Again, I applaud your courage and honesty. All the best.
-
You are simply incredible, Inmate!

Thanks Tazzy and everyone else for the wonderful comments. I smile because I choose to smile. Fortunately my husband is good behind the lens and has been able to take photos through this journey. I can look back and see that this is still me (albeit somewhat less of me) but still me.
To all the newbies out there. A few things I regret not doing from the beginning is taking more pictures. I wish I would have taken a head shot each day. It would show emotion, hair and just a general daily update to the transformation we all make during this journey. And I don't mean all bad. Chemo made my skin fantastic for awhile. My hair came out a beautiful stark white at first. Your eyes are more brilliant when you loose your hair. Things like that. Blogging. I am not much of a writer but I do wish I would have started a blog or at least journaled. Sometimes it's hard to remember dates and drug names but it is even harder to remember the emotions.
My advise to all the newbies is write it down or take pictures. I thought moving past and forgetting the journey would be best. Weave those experiences into your fiber. It has made for a much stroner "new me".
I am off to visit my sister for a few days so might be a bit quiet. Have a wonderful weekend.
Love to you all!

Thanks to all for the information you post and the photo's ((((Inmate))))). I had my port inserted in preparation for chemo to begin one week from today. EEK!! The tubing had to go into my neck and that is a bit weird but I am sure I will get used to it. Next up is my MUGA scan on Friday. I assume that everyone who gets Adriamycin gets a MUGA scan. Now I am worried because at the teaching session, the nurse said that the pumping must be between 50% and 80%. If it is 50% or below, no chemo or maybe she meant "A". Anyway, I am freaking because what happens if I am borderline or below -- I am a worry wort by nature and this is not helping.
Also, a friend just sent me this link for people who have had breast cancer surgery etc. by the AVON Foundation for Women. She is a 5 year breast cancer survivor and is a big advocate for education and helping others. Sounds like they periodically send out surveys to be filled out. Anyway, it is worth checking out. Here is the link... https://www.armyofwomen.org/getinvolved

From all the newbies, I thank you Inmate. What an eye opener. And I am going to make sure we document this journey both for myself and my son.
-
Pinky....you will come to love your port. I think it makes me a superhero. With this port I am ready for battle! I didn't have a MUGA test, so no advice there, but my port has worked like a dream.
-
Thanks for the encouragement with the port, Inmate. From what we were told, the MUGA scan is a baseline because the Adriamycin can cause heart damage. Oh joy! If it's not one thing, it's another.
-
the gift that keeps on giving. with no return policy, i might add!
-
Inmate,
And of course what your husband can see, and what the camera shows, is that you are still beautiful (even if there is less of you).
-
Inmate, you ROCK! Your courage is off the charts! You are so right about photos and journaling. I have a photo from right after dx, I look like a deer int he headlights! No makeup and my eyes are huge. I was terrified, now I now I did it, I am healthy and stronger, like you.
Port scars: my port was removed May 29th when they did my BMX. It. Worked wonderfully and was my friend for six months, but I was glad to see it go. The scar is there under my left clavical. I have noticed several clients look at it recently. I never mention it but I feel like its a badge of honor, kind of. I have been wearing dresses with tiny straps, showing it off. Never would have worn anything like that pre BC. I went out and bought them recently. Maybe it's a tiny rebellion against all that has happend?
National Anthem! What an honor! So proud of you!
Proud of all of us!

I am to begin Taxotere/Cytoxan on July 31 . . . any "helpful hints" or loving warnings . . . I'm scared . . .
ONCOTYPE came back confirming triple negative (the doc was holding out hope that the PR 1-5% could help - it did NOT)
-
Inmate you are beautiful inside and out. Your courage knows no bounds. Enjoy your time with your sister brave and courageous girl you deserve every minute of it. This time things will be alright for you.
-
Inmate - loved the photos. For those of us who are battle scarred, it's good to know there are others out there. I am glad I took a photo of my boobs, the night before surgery.
Michelle- beautiful baby.
Pinky- I had ACT the first go round, and a MUGA. Couldn't have the A second time around, because I'd had my lifetime supply!
Hugs all around. -
Inmate,
Georgeous images! ...and you have such a beautiful smile. Hope you are feeling good and have a wonderful weekend with your sister.

I started the same cocktail July 6th am going in next friday for the 2nd round, depending on the meds the only side effect i had was a few pangs of pain in the bones, and an upset stomach for a week or so. Emotionally I was a wreck for days before hand but the nurses took good care of me during the whole session. Wishing you the best of luck, bring a good book or some form of entertainment it will be a long day. Mine took 6 hours.
-
Ah..Inmate...you are totally incredible...I hate cancer so damn much and I see women like you that give it the freaking "f u" way to go lady...your hubby sounds like a keeper too...
Hope everyone has a great weekend...seems like the women going through chemo right now are doing ok...that's good...I remember people telling me that it is only a short time and I thought blah..but maybe it is...
Love you ladies.......
-
Luv congrats on the new baby! Just precious!!
Inmate you are so brave! Thank you for sharing.
-
Thanks dgcote . . . I am scared . . . have 11 days to dwell on it (OR NOT!) and then get started . . . hoping my experience can mirror yours . . .
-
Thanks OBXK, I'm scared of most of this 'stuff' but becasue I have my MUGA tomorrow, I am most scared of that right now.
For those who are going through chemo now, I had my port implanted Tuesday and the pre-op nurse, who had the cutest short haircut, shared that she just had her port removed about two months ago. She said to ask for ice chips and chew/suck on them when you are getting chemo and that will help lessen mouth sores. She got the same regimine that I will be getting and only had one small mouth sore. There is hope!
Also, she had more problems with the 'T' part -- ended up getting blood transfusions. That part was not very encourging but it helped to see that she came through it okay.

Hi Navymom, and all you wonderful ladies! I am so sorry for not posting in a while, just having eye problems and severe lethargy (don't know why), did not want to be on the computer too much as the glare hurts my eyes these days. I mainly just go to sleep after work, hoping the monster isn't back. Am due for check-ups in August. Just wanted to say Hi for now, also say that Inmate, honey, you Rock!!!! You are still very beautiful! I am so very sorry for those of you who are going through a tough time. Have a peaceful, beautiful sleep everyone!

The priest in a small village loved the cock and
hens he kept in the chicken run behind the church.one saturday night the cock
went missing. The priest knew that illegal cock fights took place so
he addressed the matter from the pulpit to his parishers in church the next
morning. "has anybody" he questioned with a
stern voice "got a cock? all the men stood up.
" no,no'' he said, that wasn't what I meant. has anybody seen a cock?"All the women stood up. ''no no" he said somewhat flustered by now.
that wasn't what I meant. Has anybody seen a cock that doesn,t
belong to them. Half the women stood up. "no no'
that wasn't what I meant at all. Has anybody seen MY cock? All the nuns, three
alter boys, two priests and a goat stood up. -
Any chance of our hair coming back like this!!

A little boy comes down to breakfast. Since they live on a farm, his mother asks if he had done his chores.
"Not yet," said the little boy.
His mother tells him no breakfast until he does his chores.
Well, he's a little pissed off, so he goes to feed the chickens, and he kicks a chicken. He goes to feed the cows, and he kicks a cow. He goes to feed the pigs, and he kicks a pig. He goes back in for breakfast and his mother gives him a bowl of dry cereal.
"How come I don't get any eggs and bacon? Why don't I have any milk in my cereal?" he asks.
"Well," his mother says, "I saw you kick a chicken, so you don't get any eggs for a week. I saw you kick the pig, so you don't get any bacon for a week either. I saw you kick the cow so for a week you aren't getting any milk."
Just then, his father comes down for breakfast and kicks the pussycat halfway across the kitchen.
The little boy looks up at his mother with a smile, and says, "You gonna tell him or should I?"
