Black Russian?  I'm still trying to feel like I'm in the tropics, so either a margarita or mai-tai for me....    The margarita has salt - could throw some over my head or under my feet - or wherever....

I don't know about licorice, but in the case of cruciferous vegetables, particularly brocolli and brussel sprouts, some of us have particular taste buds that can taste a very very bitter chemical in them.  Others of us do not.  I read a scientist's research on this years ago.  She called those of us that have the ability to taste the bitter chemical "supertasters."  They tend not to like brocolli.  Maybe licorice is the same.  I love licorice.  I've never had licorice ice cream.

My favorite ice cream flavors are ginger and pistachio.  Oh, and I love chocolate.  And pumpkin.  And I won't pass on a yummy vanilla. 

ETA...I think I am having trouble with my computer.  I keep getting very old posts, posting, then seeing I am way way way behind the times...

CLC -- Cilantro is the taste I CANNOT ABIDE!  For me it has a horrible chemical taste that, unfortunately, lingers and lingers.  How it ever became so darn popular with chefs I'll never know!

As for ice cream, my very, very favourite is mocha -- can't beat the chocolate and coffee combo!

So happy to hear of clean scans.  Every single one of us here knows just how you feel before....and we sigh in relief along with you when the results are good.  Always a good excuse to celebrate.  I'll have a manhattan!

And speaking of black russians: when I was young and foolish, I thought black russians were the bestest drink ever......until one night when I had one to many. 

Oh I remember grasshoppers as well one of my favorite in the young days.

I think it took me 2-1/2 hours to catch up with y'all. Page 820??? Whew! I've been lurking off and on, mostly off I'm afraid.  The past 4 weeks are a blur. We've been sleeping on the sofa bed in my M.I.L.'s apartment, and eating in the cafeteria at the hospital where she has been all that time. We finally had to come home to take care of some things we hadn't intended to leave for so long, but we're headed back her way tomorrow.

Just wanted to let y'all know I'm still around and keeping an eye on you guys.  Stay out of trouble, okay?

kira-congrats on the clean mammo. We all know what you're going through. When we say that, we really mean it, unlike some of the other people we might have in our lives. I'm still on the 6 month schedule. Mammogram alternated with MRI.

In the drink arena ... anybody else old enough to remember Cold Duck?  It was at every party in the early 70s.  At least in my military social circle at the time.  Cheap but hideous.

Cold Duck and Mateus, Black Russians, Pink Ladies and Grasshoppers - sounds like the 60s to me (and my liver) - managed to get sick on all of it - too much sugar I guess - my favourite drink is single malt scotch and water.  And yes Lindasa, cilantro -yech!  Pat Conroy (the writer responsible for Prince of Tides among other titles) calls cilantro the "spice of the Devil" in his cookbook and I agree - it is in everything these days and in huge amounts.

Mary - I only had 1 glass last night with my toasted baked bean and cheese sandwich. I'd been out to lunch with some friends at work, so didn't want to eat much. It's our 35th wedding anniversary this year too - Oct 8th.

Steve got home this afternoon - very tired- hope he goes to bed early - seems a bit grumpy. Funerals are sad. He was upset because his cousin's children didn't seem to know he existed - typical family crap.

I uncovered the bloody pool as it needed 4 bags of salt (lots of rain lately). Will cover it again tomorrow. Don't know how I got to be the "pool boy".

Been really warm this week due to cloud cover and rain. The garden is really happy.

I think I'm sending DH to the Farmer's Market. I might go see if the farm up the road that has home grown fruit and potted plants and some jams and such has anything good. I am back to just my orginal tremor med and feel very jerked around from the other two the doctor wanted to add to that (one at a time). One made me really depressed and the other really tired. They both had minor side effects too. I hope i am having minor withdrawal problems fro Klonopin (flu-like syptoms) or I am coming down with something.

 It will be another hot dry day today. We had about 10 drops of rain on the windshield when we went out to eat last night.We took two of our boys with us. They are here for the weekend. We went to a pub.How do I know it is not just a bar? Its name is The Pub!
