    Sooooo wonderful to meet so many new friends at the BCOB&G --  a comfy place to laugh and/or to commiserate, and to bitch about those dratted tests we all need to take!  And it's also wonderful to hear about GOOD test results -- keep 'em coming!

    Scoot, my nephew and his wife were out riding their horses last Sunday and hers threw her.  An MRI a few hours later showed a fracture of her tailbone.  On their way home from hospital, they stopped to grab some dinner, and as she was walking out to the parking lot, she felt faint, fell and hit her head on the pavement, suffering a mild concussion!  She's in considerable discomfort, but at least she's mobile.  And yes, she's eager to get back on her favourite equine pal!
     
    We're enjoying balmy, breezy weather this week in Niagara -- a little shower tonight to water the plants, but not nearly enough to turn all the brown grass a nicer shade.
     
    And....I'm so mad that my cable company doesn't carry HBO.  I'm missing NewsroomCry.

    Scoot - wmd!  SPEWING MY DRINK ALL OVER THE DESK.  You're the best.  I thought your horse's head was a ghostly woman in front of a large rock (stonehenge) - much better as a horse.

    Gardengumby - I started on the every 6 month checkup after 2 years.  

    Also had a bmx, so no mammograms, but get "felt up" every checkup.  Scared, cuz know of woman who had a bmx, and then many ( MANY) years later had a new primary in the scar tissue.  Can't happen often, but hearing of it just still gives me the willies.

    OK, Blue, whaddja say dat got whomped/deleted.  Of course, don't say it again, I can guess from the placement of your comments, that you were defending those who needed defending.  It's the blue crocs that really make the outfitLaughing

    HL - the YouTube of that program ( the scene where he answers :"we're not" has gotten a zillion views.  I don't have cable, so rely on reading about it - but sounds like Arron Sorkin has outdoen himself on this one. Not gonna link the YouTube cuz it will provoke the attackers to come out...but it is FABULOUS - so everybody google it!

    I have a show this weekend - first show of the season for me and was so happy to see only 2 people in my class including myself which means I can't get any worse than 2nd place Laughing

    Drank some white wine tonight while watching the 1st episode of "Perception".  It's worth the time and gives the general public like me an overview of neuroscience and the workings of the brain.  It's also very sweet in places.

    Hi ladies. I'm now at checkups every 6 months. Laughing
    I had a mammo a couple weeks ago because I got a rash on my still real side and they (and I) wanted to make sure it wasn't paget's. It was exzema, apparently.Surprised . So no mammo for a year now. Unfortunately, my MO changed her mind about me taking a month off of letrozole this winter though, because test results from prostrate cancer patients taking"breaks" was not good.

    At the huge risk of stating the obvious, I think the conversation about SCOTUS-ACA is going around in circles - even my ignore feature can pinpoint that. There is no point in arguing with faulty reasoning and lack of knowledge when the fundamental divide is ideological. Some people just don't believe in healthcare as a universal human right - period.

    Glenna - Magic Mike's is a movie about male strippers. My daughter and I went to see it and we're now talking a Las Vegas trip for my 50th...just to do 'research.'

    Yes, Athena, the ACA conversation is going in circles - largely because some people simply re-hash the R talking points.   And of course, what CLC said.  When I think that this is basically EXACTLY what the Republicans wanted - and then simply because...... 

    oh never mind - talk about preaching to the choir.  Laughing

    I don't mind if people have ideological differences. I DO mind the bogus 'information' about the ACA and its provisions. If you're going to hate something, hate it for the right reasons!



    I see a few major themes behind people's discomfort:



    1. Deliberate lies about the ACA. Death panels, government 'takeover ' of healthcare, exemptions for Muslims, purposeful government suppression of hospital expansions, health care for illegal immigrants, health care rationing....on and on and on....



    2. Fear of change, and this is a BIG change.



    3. I've got mine, you fend for yourself.



    4. Unreasonable hatred for Obama and everything he does. Individual mandates force people to take responsibility for themselves and are an idea proposed by health insurance companies and endorsed by Republicans. Put Obamas name next to it and its suddenly the Holocaust and Armageddon rolled into one. Go figure.

    I like contributing to the ACA conversation.  Every time someone makes a claim on why it will destroy the nation, I look up the facts and learn something.  The more facts I learn, the better I like the ACA. I have no expectations of changing the minds of those who object to the ACA.  One cannot change the minds of people who refer to Rush Limbaugh as a source of information.  I hope some of the people who "read only" on the thread may be more informed by the links I and others post about the facts of the ACA.

    Magic Mike looks like a fun Summer movie. There has been some real clinkers released this season. Dark Shadows was so boring, I actually fell asleep during it.  Cool

    "Moonrise Kingdom" is a fun, quirky, amusing little movie. We went to see it last weekend when our power was out. We talked about it for a couple days -- it is much deeper than it seems. I highly recommend it -- and the odd combo of Bill Murray, Bruce Willis and Frances McDormand really works.



    SCOTUS thread -- thanks notself, GardenGumby and the others who are fighting the good fight over there. I can't do it without getting angry. Thank you!

    Now here's something that I've recently been wondering about:  For all the folks who criticize the ACA and are trying to label it "socialist", why are they okay with oil and gas government subsidies, farm subsidies and the like?  It seems they are placing far greater value on government support for business than for the individual.  And yet, these same folks place such emphasis on the rights of the individual (e.g. not to have health insurance of they don't want it) rather than policies that would benefit the greatest number of people.

    I don't get it!

    Going around in circles for sure.  I don't expect to change anybody's mind ... if 3 and 4 is your thing so be it.  Correcting a bunch of BS misinformation is necessary though.  Adding my thanks to those of you who are pecking away at it piece by piece.

    The best thing about those threads is the new people we meet there.  Welcome to our little lounge!

    Linda ... your head will explode if you try to apply 'logic' to all that.  Bottom line is that stuff that ends up in their pockets is good.  Other stuff is not good.

    uhmmmm - could it be because the Koch brothers (among others) make a TON of money off the oil and farm subsidies - and they bankroll Rush and the Teaparty crowd to push their own agenda and ensure the government is controlled as much as possible to benefit them...  surely not - why that would be (GASP) socialist!!!!  Laughing   Actually, it seems almost like treason to me.  Sealed
