Five Years!

I just passed my five year mark! Yeah Me! It is hard to believe it has been so long since I was diagnosed. I would
not say that it was an easy journey, but I have had it a whole lot easier than many others. I have had a few scares along the way, and I would like to say that I do not worry anymore, but I do. I think it is only natural. I thought I was
finally to a point where the fear of recurrence was gone, and then I recently got some flea bites! Luckily I have a personal "4 week rule" so I did not embarrass myself by going to the doctors just to be told I am an old flea bagI have really appreciated everyone on this board so much and I do not know what I would have done without the support I feel I have here. Every time I read someone's post that has been recently diagnosed, I just wish that I could fast forward them to the place that I am today and that I could make everything OK for them again. I have truly been very blessed in so many ways and I have been so grateful for everything, especially the ability to access the treatments I received. Truthfully the only time I really feel completely overwhelmed about breast cancer anymore is at the thought that one of my daughters will be diagnosed, but I try not to let my mind go there, and continue to hope that they find a cure soon!

It seems like only yesterday that I was jubilantly writing my five-year post. I do agree with you - "fast-forward" is one of the best ways to help calm the recurrence terrors - and yet I have to keep reminding myself: don't wish the years away just to get further from my diagnosis!
Wishing many more years to ALL of us...
