Unicorns and rainbow farts?  BWAHAHAHAHA!  Well, you know, people are uncomfortable with our cancers and they offer up whatever happy crappy is in their head at the moment.  Like HL says - it's an attempt to make it all go away.

Riley - I think that was a passive-aggressive move on their part.  "See?  The building didn't burn down, you demanding woman!"

What is campari?  I like the sounds of that!

Athena, when my brother was little, instead of counting 1, 2, 3, 4 he would count 1, 2, MANY!

What is this vocabulary thread ;) to which you are all alluding?

Athena, every so often I remove the ignore settings I have, just to make sure I'm not being unnecessarily sensitive or reactive.  I have to say....I'm not.  And back go the ignore settings.

    Riley,

Have you thought of calling the Board of Health?  that MOLD is dangerous stuff, IMHO, it's time to play "the cancer card" - I know, I know, I can hear some folks howling, but DAMN, you shouldn't have to put up with living like that -  at this time of year, and especially THIS year, there must be some one in your town paying attention to heat related illness, etc.

I wouldn't hesitate to "make a FUSS", BIG FUSS, and even call the local paper?  Just so infuriating when people think they can get away with that kind of irresponsibility - knowing so many will avoid confrontation if possible.  Well, I say "confront!"

    Hope all are staying cool....

Scoot = Campari is an Italian aperitivo (aperitif).  It's bright red, not sweet, with a distinctive spicy taste.  Some mix it with soda (and the lime is a nice addition!) and some, who want the affects of a martini, mix it with gin.  T'is good!

Momine - this is the "vocabulary" thread, sweetie!  All additions welcome!

Gin & tonic for me, too, please!  Lots of ice and lots and lots of lime!

I'm not going to certain other neighborhoods and I am DEFINITELY not removing my blocking shields.  Not worth it ... not now, not ever.  Besides, there are some amazing, brilliant, stalwart defenders over yonder ... they're doing just fine.

Scoot, you can also use the theme from Gilligan's Island as "la la la la can't hear you" music, but it's hard to get rid of after.

Scootaloo, I know, right? "You want your A/C to work in triple digit temperatures? You have a problem with a huge pile of bone-dry brush beside your building when the state is under extreme fire precautions? Who do you think you are, the Queen?" LOL

Sunflowers, that was the first thing that went through my head when he said 'mold'. I've lived here 25 years. How long has that been there? Did it contribute to my developing cancer? He bleached everything, even going outside and dismantling the A/C box to clean out there, too. Is that enough to get rid of it? My lease is up in 9 mos and I am outta here. I feel sorry for the next tenant already.

    Riley,

I strongly doubt if it contributed to bc, I think bc really is a crap shoot - but it can't be helping your breathing!  I am so allergic to mold, you'd have had to scrape me off the floor if I walked into the room.  But I STILL think, for the sake of others in the same situation, making a PUBLIC fuss is helpful.

Guess you can see why I'm not on the "other thread."  One of my favorite signs, in the women's bathroom of a nonprofit I used to see in the DC area, over the sink: "please clean up after yourself, and the other person."  There were never water puddles around the sinks, no tissues or paper towels on the floor.  My kinda world.

Campari is also the name of my model townhouse.  Each model was named after a drink.  What can I say........Italian builders.  DA BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm with CLC - can I have a gin & tonic, too, please???  It's not as hot here, but summer finally did arrive, so can I join the party?

Gin and tonic but only if it is icy cold. Warm gin tastes like sweat.

Wine is our current favourite - we've had a bottle every night since we got home. DH says we have to give it a rest :) I wasn't the one opening them up.

G and T for me too!

(Aside: some people need to grow a slightly less thin epidermis - it isn't all about them!)

    ...iced and sliced...in all weather.

Last night at 8.07 pm it was 92 degrees in DC. Is that moral, I ask you?!

Don't really like gin-but I'll take a vodka and tonic, please.

As soon as the other thread veered towards capital gains taxes, my vision got blurry.....I'm not educated enough to debate that. Maybe I should be...

My grandfather said gin was for women-once a month. Need I say more. I had a marguarita.

    I just poked a bear.

(Holding G&T up - no easy feat when one has paws):

To our health! We are healthy enough to be sharing this evening. That's a lot better than some have it. Something my yoga instructor said made me thankful.

My father has been drinking martinis daily (usually no more than two) since forever. He is 97 now. I think they work.

Bartender, can't you find a real nice bowl for our favorite lioness to have her gin and tonic without spilling?

Straight Campari, no ice, twist of lime. Double please.

Been wallowing in huge puddle of self pity (due to a very evil drug called Ixempra). Decided to crawl out and get some spunk in the spirit no matter how much effort it takes!

Do you prefer a nice porcelain object du art? Or something in shiny metal that you can play with when it is empty?

Just the word - lxempra -sounds awful. I can't imagine anything under that name feeling good (why do they use so many consonants for chemo drugs?). Glad you're here, though...

I've never blocked anyone...  What exactly happens when you do?  Do you see that that person has posted, but you can't read it?  Or do you just occasionally have the sense that something is going on that you aren't fully aware of?  I have a few times thought that my emotional well being would be improved by blocking certain people, but I guess I am fearful that someone will direct a question to me or something, and I will be non-responsive because I don't know about it...  What is your experience with it? (directed to anyone with experience with it...)
