Hey Patti and All Divas . . . Here I am!!! It's been a little busy with babysitting my beautiful little 10 month old granddaughter from April 13 until the 22nd and then on the 23rd, my four sisters-in-law and myself went to visit our other sister in Madison, Wisconsin. We just got back last night. It was really interesting because everyone in the group is eating so heathy and trying to either lose or maintain their weight. Three of the six are really really slim - then there's me, sort of in the middle and the other two sisters are somewhat heavier. We all ate so healthy though that when I weighed myself this AM I was exactly what I was when I left - so a small victory.

I need to go to WW - so I'll either do it tomorrow or wait until my regular day, Tuesday. I'm a life time member so I sometime change my weigh-in day to suit whatever's happening. Sometimes I stay for the meeting - but not always because I really do know what I'm supposed to do!!! Sometimes I stay for additional inspiration. Anyway, I will check in and let you know how that goes.

You gals all seem to be doing so great!!! We'll keep on down that road and we will eventually reach our destination, right??

    God bless,
    Pat

Pat - great job saying the same!!! It's so much harder to do that away from home.

Denise - you had to lose at least 150 unwanted lbs with the break up! I can't imagine going back in the dating world - you're a braver woman than I! I'm not sure "nice, normal" guys exist. Mine's nice but a little odd... Enjoy the search!!

Patti - it's Thursday, did you get the naked benefit??? lol

Keep up the good work everyone!

Hey Kari, Denise, Patti, Rose and All Divas:
Hope everyone is doing well. I finally went to WW on Saturday - first time since my babysitting and lost .2 (2 tenths) of a pound. Not much but at this juncture, I'm happy if just stays the same!! Went 1.2 mile walk yesterday and will do the same today. I really like being outside when the weather permits rather than going to the gym.
Hope this finds all of you are happy, healthy and "on the road."
    Blessings,
    Pat

Way to go Pat!! Any loss is a good loss.

Today's weigh in 184, up a pound. Oh well, was well within my points for the week but will admit to too many empty Pepsi points. Will hit the water harder this week and get back to losing!

Hope everyone has a great week!!!

    Kari:
    Thanks for the kind words.
I know what you mean when you are within points and the scale doesn't reflect it - but you know what, you will do better this week!!! It's the name of the game - the ups and downs, right?? It's just getting 'back up on the horse' and continuing on. We've all had alot of practice with that, haven't we.
God bless and good luck this week. Where are all of our other WW buddies??

Pat: Don't be discouraged with only a .2 loss (that's a stick of butter and imagine walking around with a stick of butter in your pants all day). Any loss is a good loss.

Thought I'd share my WW tip of the day. Don't forget to have your 2 milks (3 if you are over 50) and 2 oils (olive, flaxseed - can't remember the other ones, not vegetable) each day. My WW leader stresses this every week. Once I made sure to include them in my program every day, the weight came off so quickly, better than previous attempts at WW. Hope this hint helps. - Janet

Well I finally made it to WW. Almost couldn't find the place. I think i was secretly hoping I wouldn't be able to find it. I was going to console myself at Krispy Kreme. But oh well, I found it. The leader was nice. I signed up for 10 weeks. I'm gonna try and follow the rules this time. I'm actually pleased I made it this far.

Good luck ya'll. Hope I follow in your footsteps. Kari, good work on all that exercising.

Sure enough - 182 today. I should move weigh in day to Tues as I save most of my allowance points for the weekend! Oh well, doesn't really matter in the long run.

I think Monday is good, it tells you what your weekend excesses were. I always get low by the end of the week because I do the same thing everyday when I work. It's the weekends that are the problem.

Well, so far today I've stuck to it. I'm hungry so I'm munching on plain coleslaw. I've already used 20 out of my 26 points. so far so good!

    Glad you lost more Kari.

Not sure if I've already posted this but I found some Flat Out Wraps at Walmart that are pretty good. They have a bunch of fiber (9g) and are only 1 pt per wrap. Had some lean ham and lettuce, tomato and fat free Italian dressing on one for lunch - only 3 points total.

Pat: I would be honored to give whatever suggestions for the WW program that I can (although everyone seems to be doing so well). Seems like I've been a WW member forever. My suggestion this week is, even if you are not on the CORE program, try to incorporate as many of the CORE foods as you can into your program. The CORE program eliminated processed sugars and therefore the foods are easier to break down and metabolize and therefore helps in weight loss. I've had my greatest success with the CORE program.

I also wanted to let you ladies know that on Saturday I will be participating in the Revlon 5k Run/Walk for Women's Cancers in NYC. I started participating in this 4 years ago to honor my sister-in-law who is battling ovarian cancer. I will also be honoring the ladies from breastcancer.org. You are a wonderful sisterhood and help so many women and for that I will be walking in your honor as well.

Have a great day. - Janet

    Janet,
I am very interested in the CORE program. It was just too much for me to bite off all at once. Now at least I can "cheat" and save a couple of points at the end of the day for a non-fat splenda sweetened fudgecicle.

    Have a great walk!

I'm so glad I found this forumn. When I first logged on I thought maybe it'd been lost! I am happy with it being towards the bottom because new people kept posting with serious problems, and this really isn't a serious cancer problem topic.

Which is not to say that losing weight isn't a serious thing - because it sure doesn't happen unless you work on it!

That's cool about the Revlon walk. Is it like Avon where you have to raise a certain amount of money?

The sign-up for the Komen race is coming soon and I'm thinking about it. It's really more a mob scene than a race, and I just don't know if I'm up for it. Probably I should get some other DC ladies to meet up with me.

Rose: It is similar to Avon. You aren't required to raise a certain amount but they would like you to raise at least $250. I've raise just over $1,500. Susan Sarandon, Jaime Lynn Siegler(from Sopranos)and Chris Meloni (Elliot on Law & Order SUV) are the hosts. It starts in Time Square then goes up through Central Park. They usually have about 45,000 participants. I'm sure if you guys watch Good Morning America on Saturday morning you will see some of it because all the pre-race festivities start right outside their window.

    Patti:
That's great that you lost the two pounds. I know what you mean about being 'stuck' at a certain spot but when I've had that happen, if I just persist and go on as though I am losing, I do eventually begin to lose again. Keep it up Patti - you really are doing good!!

Janet: The walk sounds great. Thank you so much for holding all of the ladies of breastcancer.org in your heart as you walk. You really do honor us!!! God bless.

Rose, Denise and Susan - good to see you all here. How's it going????

    Pat,
Thanks for asking. I am doing okay-down 4 pounds yet, but it was doing its usual yo-yo as I recently had a birthday and had lots of b-day dinners.
My plantar faciitis is getting better and I am walking 2 miles a day, although my dr said not to. But I do need to do it for weight loss.
What really hurts is that nothing from last summer fits me so I really have to get serious here. And I also broke up with my boyfriend of 7 months and the thought of going out into the dating world again is really scary. I had gotten too comfortable with the ex-beau and didn't try too hard to lose.
I am also doing free-weights, but with only 3 pounders as I have lymphedema and I am not sure what I can't do with my chest wall area and implants.

    Denise,
I had plantar faciitis. The thing that helped me the most was stretching my achilles tendon. Not a quick fix though but it does help. Congrats on the 4 lbs.

Susan,-how do you do that stretch? Every morning I do foot circles before getting out of bed, and also put a towel below my toes and pulling back on it. Then I limp to the nearest wall and do the wall-push thingies. I ice my foot 3 times a day, and also roll a frozen bottle under my arch.
I wear shoes all day with my custom orthodics.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated!

    Denise,

Try standing on a step or curb with your feet close to the edge (if on a curb your back would be to the road and heel by the edge.) Step back with one foot so the ball of your foot is at the edge and drop your heel - put most of your weight on the leg with the heel dropped - you'll feel the stretch.

    I love this one!

    Yes, I did it just as Kari described. It sounds like you are doing everything you need to do. At least everything I know to do. I had to stop walking for a while. Water aerobics or bicycle. {grimace}
