Baby it's cold outside

We had near record lows yesterday morning and again this morning, upper 50's, and highs in the mid 80's. The humidity is low and the temps are comfortable. That being said we are expecting near record highs starting tomorrow for 3 days, 100.
-
We are due to be in the 90s until a week from tomorrow. Then we hit 100. It has been a nice reprieve from the 108 temperature of Father's Day!
-
I have never had to use the AC in June before.I think up here in Canada we are in for a hot summer.I am not complaining
.
-
mumito, down here in the Buffalo area, I never owned an AC unit until that vicious streak of days last summer, now I'm thinking couldn't live without one.
-
So far our summer has been pretty mild other than Father's Day. Yesterday it only reach 101. We have a spare AC unit that we put in our bedroom during the summer so we aren't cooling the entire house at night. So far we aven't needed to use it.
-
We got a bit of rain on Thursday, measurable, so that was good. It sure made the humidity rise though.
How is everyone else doing???
-
We're hot again in mid Michigan - and humid. Yesterday was 98 but today is supposed to be cooler with a high of 88. For us, this has been a very hot and dry summer. I love the heat but don't love that our agriculture business is suffering. We had an all time high of 104 a couple of weeks ago.
The grass is so brown it hurts when your skin touches it. One day the Grands were in the little blow up pools in our yard and when their mamas went to spray more sunscreen on them, they started crying and screeching - their moms figured out that the grass had scratched their little legs and feet to the point where the sun screen hurt. Poor babes.
-
suzwes-Hi! Long time no see on here I think.
Hot here. Waiting for mid-fall, can't wait!
-
Hi Eph! It has been a long time. I just hate when life (and emergency abdominal surgery - dang it) get in the way! Glad to "see" all my BC friends
-
So happy to see you here again, Suz. The weather is hoveing at the century mark, but the humidity has eased up some. It makes for later nights for me, as I don't go out to do my watering/yard upkeep until the sun sets over the hills.
So, Eph, you were heading in the right direction last weekend. You should have just continued South, but then I might not have let you go back in time for you to get to work Monday! What was the temp in Sacramento?
-
Meece-right at 100, & when we drove thru Redding on Sunday it was 103!
-
Geesh! It felt pretty hot here today. It was only 98 though. Now, at 9:30 it is 78!
-
We've gotten a bit of a reprieve in Michigan - only in the low to upper 80s and no 90s in sight. Although, the humidity has gotten a little out of hand so the 80s feel like low 90s but better than feeling in the 100s. We've gotten some rain so the low areas are looking green but still not enough rain to help our farmers. The corn crop is not going to be very good this year and the cherry trees in Traverse City, the cherry capital of the world (4 million cherry trees), tanked because of the weather which has not helped our economy at all!!
Glad to be back and see all of my friends on this thread. Thanks for nudging me Meece!

With my aversion to weather talk, I haven't posted on here at all this year. Also, I don't even post the state I live in, so if and when I post something, what does it really mean? But I will tell you this: I live in a drought plagued area that also set a record for the driest July ever (or in the last 125 years, at least) with only .32" or rainfall. The average of the daily high temps. was 97 degrees. It's terrible and this summer has been no fun. Now put some Tamoxifen hot flach on top of that, and it is just a double dose of misery.
And Meece, I might have to stop by the Elab thread and confess how much ice cream I have taken to eating just to try and stay cool, not to mention the poundage put on due to the lack of desire to ride my bike out in the biblical inferno we have going on here.
Brown grass, check! Brown weeds, even! Tumbleweeds on main street...not yet, but I do keep a lookout for them. I know they are out there.
-
Ok, Baby it's cold outside in Michigan today. E - come and visit. 63 big ones, rain - which is the good in all of this as we are also in drought conditions - and windy, I'm betting the wind chill has is in the mid 50s. BRRRRRRRR.
-
Sounds divine to me!
-
Get on a plane and come and visit Eph! Temp keeps dropping, it's down to 60 now. I'm hosting the first family reunion (my grandparents decendants) tomorrow at my house. 40 people that I'd like to keep outside but not looking good!!!!
-
Well that's too bad considering it's August. But it's supposed to be 102 here tomorrow-yuck! I'd love to come visit, but some other time.
-
It was 106 yesterday, heading south today and it should be a bit lower. Heading up to the bay area on Saturday and hoping the temps will be better.
-
We headed to So Cal to celebrate our anniversary and go to a dr. appointment over the past weekend. It was hot!!! We thought by going to the coast when the inland weather was so hot, we would end up with mild to cool temps. WRONG! It was 101 at the Arboretum on Sunday and 84 at the beach. Better than staying home where the temp got up to 110 on Monday!
-
We've been cooling down the last week or so, but today thru whenever it's supposed to be back in the 90s. We haven't had rain since June....I am so ready!
-
We were a bit north of here for the weekend and it was quite warm. Not as hot as I hear it was locally, but to be outdoors most of the time, it was plenty hot. We've had some sprinkles this summer, but nothing to write home about.
-
They thought it would hit triple digits yesterday but it only got to 97.
-
That's 3 away from triple no matter how you look at it!
-
It did hit 100 yesterday. I am ready for a period of 80s weather, but I am afraid it will be a short one and straight to winter.
-
So what do you Californians consider winter?
-
Well, our weather ranges from the 70s down into the 30s. Where I live, there is dense fog that occurs and hangs for a good portion of the day. Say from 4:30 in the afternoon through noon the following day. We have had snow, but rarely, and not every year. I know many of you would consider that mild, but when you are used to long hot spring, summer, and falls, it is cold to us.
I get irritated when our weather guessers talk about how hot and dry our summer is, and when it cools down and rains they talk about not being able to wait until it warms up and dries up.
-
Sounds very much like the winters I experienced when we lived in HongKong,Cold and Damp.
Here in Canada its the cold and snow that keeps us hopping.Right now we have a warm spell canstill wear summer clothes but it won't last.I have already closed our pool and winterized the outside tap and aircon unit.We have started booking our winter escapes as well.
-
Wow! 101 here yesterday. It's still shorts and sleeveless here. When we winterize it means taking the small AC unit out of our bedroom. We use it at night so we don't have to cool the whole house. The overnight lows this past week have averaged in the 70s. That's about 15 degrees higher than the normal average. Right now at 5 am it is 71.
I was discussing weather with an out of towner yesterday. He was complaining and didn't see how we could live here. Although it is hot, we are used to it, and if we were to get snow all winter we would be miserable because it isn't what we are used to.
