kjiberty - I ended up ordering the cool caps from TLC.  I also ordered some headbands that look like they'll make some hats and baseball caps more wearable.  I've actually been getting the most use out of some old scarves of my mother's.  They are sttraight out of the 80's, but they have a lot of colors that I've been finding to match my clothes.  I don't think they look too bad.  I wore a buff to the gym today.  Hardly anytone paid any attention at all.  If they want to look - so be it.  They can think what they want, like, "Wow!  That woman looks like she's undergoing chemotherapy.  Good for her being at the gym!"

Dancetracer - That sounds like an awful nightmare. No more naps for you!

I have had a very lazy day and I hate wasting it, especially since I felt pretty good.  Usually my summers are spent traveling and organizing my house.  If I keep this up, school will be back in session and I will have done nothing but been a cancer patient all summer!  Oh well, there's always tomorrow.

I hope everyone is feeling as well as can be expected.

    Vicklynn,

Are you OK? Is your home OK?

My hair coming out in lots of heavy strands and falling everywhere. I hate it. Am going in tomorrow for the big buzz. Can't wait to get it done. This hair fall out all over my house is very annoying, especially in my kitchen! Been two weeks exactly since my first tx. Time to rock the bald look! (and the wig look, and the scarf look, etc.)

@Dance - that does sound bad!  yikes!

and you need to share your chemo secrets with us!  I too am not a napper (I can count on one hand how many naps I've taken as an adult!  I don't like to sit down if I can help it!) and I slept thru the bulk of days 3 and 4 post tx3 and had to lay down and nap yesterday!  My hubby came home and asked if there was anything he could do for me and I said "yes, plug me in!  I don't have enough energy left to scratch my own nose!"

Dance, No More Thrush.  That must be your mantra!  That is my prayer; you have been battling this since I started on here!  Too Long!

BGC ladies, time to kick some butt.

Thanks for all the prayers.  Safe at my sisters with the girls.  Hubby has his bug out point picked and will let me know.  The smoke is horrific and all over the city.  Going to eat dinner now.

Lots of love to you all!

So I went to the ENT today re all of my nose bleeds.  She said my nose is a mess but Chemo can do that.  She ended up cauterizing a bunch of things and told me I have a cyst like thing in there that she believes can be...drum roll please........THRUSH!!!  In my nasal passage...what the heck???  I cant breath and my nose won't stop running.  I'm so uncomfortable right now I want to cry!!!

vicki - thank you and SO glad you checked in and are safe!  I have another friend who lives in Colorado Springs who had to do the mandatory evacuation, too.  They are safe, but have no clue as to the status of their house.  I can't imagine how stressful this is for you on TOP of chemo.  Sending you hugs and strength!

Best wishes to Stacie and kjiberty for tomorrow and to anyone else going to BGC that I'm unaware of.  Minimal SE's for all!!!!

To all the Colorado gals--- Hope you are well and safe!!!!  Prayers are with you and your families.  Hopefully the weather will cooperate soon and give you some much needed rain.

dancetrancer- No more funky dreams for you!!!!  It must be that thrush that caused your napmare.  Get well soon!!!  Yes, I broke down and ate some of that "yummy" liver to get those red blood counts up.  Oh my.... was that fun.  A giant fruit bowl is sounding much better to me right now but after yesterday's round, nothing tastes wonderful.  Maybe tomorrow food will taste better.....

She took a culture to be 100% sure but she gave me ointment w anti fungal and said that should be enough.  I have a call into my Dr. to see what she thinks.  I'm also concerned that I should be on an antibiotic because of all thing cauterizing she did in there.  Hopefully onc will get back to me tonight re the other meds.  I really couldn't believe it when she said the words...I can't take this Thrush anymore...somethings gotta give!!!

Nofear - I've been on the blue side the last few days since Thursday's tx. I think the fatigue gets me down. All in good company, right?

Fighting - all I can say is, oh, no! I hooooope it clears up soon.

So, so glad you are safe, Vickilind! The news was a little better today; praying for more rain and no lightning.

Watching the Olympic swimming trials and getting psyched up. :-)

If it's not chemo killing a cancer cell, I call it all "Bonus Crap"! Can't remember if I mentioned my blood work was perfect today. I am immensely grateful and thank my blood cells often. I guess that's why I haven't gotten thrush? Any SE we escape is a blessing because there are so many for each of us. Best to all of you for your list of "Bonus Crap".

Stacie:  So happy to hear about your bloodwork.  I get mine 45 minutes before my scheduled treatment.  I wish I could go the day before and get it over with.

Kjiberty - LOL. I did look at the chemo beanies.  They are so cute, btu I don't want to spend $25 on one more thing that I will never wear when this is over.  Who knows, maybe I'll end up breaking down and get one after all!  What do you brush or comb your wig with?  I have a wide toothed comb, but wonder if I need a wig brush.

Day "8, feeling better still teeny tiny picky appetite ( thank god for Popsicles ). Eyes watering but not as much, nails sensitive but less so, no bathroom issues, feet peeling but melroses (or dance trancer?) aquaflor plus soks at night is helping. And- get ths! Had thrush this whole week and today at noon it was gone! I looked in the mirror and was astonished!

Dancetrancer, what a terrible stress dream.sorry your nap had to be wrecked by such scary images. Hope you are doing ok..

Now I am starting to worry about my list of questions for MO. ho do we know this chemo did anything? SEs from hormone stuff sound funky. Will my implant surgery have complications?? Bla bla bla. What did I do before I dealt with cancer? What if it recurs quickly? Will I ever be psychologically ok? (assuming I was before!) will i ever feel very sexual again?I guess it's next step stuff.

Marcia:  Don't bother with a wig brush.  Wide tooth comb or your regular vent brush is fine.

Lisa:  Let us know what your answers are.

Haven't checked the posts since last week - think I'm officially tired, toxic, and teary! Thinking about everyone in treatment, suffering with s/e's, and wierd dreams (Dance), and all those in Colorado... wishing you safety and an end to the fires. Trying now to get out for daily walks, restorative yoga, acupuncture, and meditation again and get back on track with diet (I was not eating or drinking much at all - probably the reason for feeling so low... not that I have lost any weight at all!!!!) My hg way down and now trying to eat red meat, spinach and black beans to get a boost. Finally able to stomach some vitamins. Long weekend here in Canada coming up and feeling a bit depressed as everyone making their w/e plans and getting ready to camp/party/celebrate etc.  Anyways, the bleeding from my nasal passage to my rectum seems to be subsiding so I guess I need to see the sunny side!!!! Cheers to all you brave women:) vjm xoxo

    Gemmie - yay for shaving!

Mine hasn't started falling yet - can someone lead me to a link that talks about the joys (ha!) of hair loss??

What about this (minor but tiresome) SE-- I feel bloated and gas-y all the time ! My belly looks like I'm 6 months pregnant!! :) is this normal?

laprofessor - I decided not to use the cold caps like others (see cold cap link). I started with a short bob two weeks after my first taxotere treatment and it was starting to come out pretty good. By that Sunday, it was coming out in gobs and I knew - had a ceremonial cutting with girlfriends and daughter with wine and lots of tears and laughter on the rocks by the ocean in the wind, rain, and sunshine with a rainbow to bless the whole event. Then we buzzed it with my husbands' initials on the back. The hairdresser at the wig shop did the final trim when I went in for my wig. I heard at the beginning of this journey that I would know when it was time... and I did:) vjm xo PS The joys: the first time I went swimming with my bald head was amazing as was my first head massage with yummy oil.

Go to the More Tips on Getting through chemo.  It's on the active forums.  Lots of good tips on there.  Its a good place to start.  Then start readings forums like this, and the one on hair, etc.  The ladies are so well-informed and helpful.
