5 of 6 infused. Just the thought of and the smell of the infusion room makes me nauseous. Thanks doc for the cocktail.

Does anyone watch So You Think You Can Dance? This is a dance from that show a few years ago in season 5. I have thought about it so many times since I watched it on the show years ago. Something made me think of it tonight and I thought I would post it. I genuinely feel it reflects how strong we all are to be fighting cancer so bravely. It is worth the watch...so moving!!! But beware...it will make your eyes water more than they already are.
-
I slept! The MO cut my steroids in half, so now I'm taking one pill, twice a day on days 2, 3, and 4, instead of 2 pills twice a day. That has kept me from being jittery (and annoying.) I felt pretty rough yesterday, and was lying in bed watching TV when I fell asleep a bit before 7:30. DH came in and turned off the light and TV.
I woke at 10 for a bathroom trip and realized how early it was, so I took my Ambien and slept until 4! That's 8 hours if you deduct the awake times. WooHoo! I hope my mood and feelings reflect it today. Yesterday was pure crap. Yup, I've decided. Today is going to be better.
-
Fierro: Glad you slept. Same here--yeah. (Took ambien at 10, woke up twice to flush all the chemo out) and up at 5. That's pretty good for me! Going to the neulasta shot today. Can hardly wait!
FightlinglikeaGirl: Beautiful dance. It brought tears to my eyes. Yes, we are all strong. We have to be to get through this.
Stacie: Congrats: you are almost there. Wishing you minimal S/E's.
Dance: Hope you get rid of that thrush once and for all!

Hi Ladies...
Someone mentioned peeling feet. I have that too. My heels peeling and tops of my toes. That's what's so great about this board....something happens to you and then you read the same thing happened to someone else and it's comforting.
Two more taxol to go then done with chemo July 18! Meeting with radiologist...I'm not convinced I need radiation....he was on the fence about it...he will have to convince me it's necessary.
Also met with surgeon. I've decided to get another mastectomy....anyone else make that choice? I just can't think of dealing with this again....and he says reconstruct will look better starting from "scratch" rather than trying to match the real one thats left. -
Fighting - that was amazing! Tyce must be an unbelievable friend to be so in touch that he could put together such an emotional dance.
-
@Fierro - woohoo for sleeping!!
I'm wondering if my not taking steroids (other then during chemo) is why I feel so cr@ppy on days 3-5? This last round I could barely get out of bed on day 3 and probably only made it upright half of day 4 despite being royally pissed that chemo was taking 2 gorgeous days away from me! Does anyone else NOT take any other steroids but the ones at their infusion?
-
Fighting - I watch SYTYCD when I can...I watched that video 2 times just now - wow - so powerful and touching! I looked up the words to the song which made the 2nd time watching it even better. Thank you for sharing!
Fierro - YAY for sleep! Here's to today being a better day, for sure!
chapter4 - I had a BMX from the start. I have no regrets at all. They actually found a small (2 mm) region of DCIS on my R side - which we thought had been cancer-free based upon mammo's and MRI. So, had I not done the BMX, I would have been dealing with cancer yet again at some point in the future. My body must be a little cancer-making factory to have had it bilaterally.
-
lsharvey - I bet you are right. However, if I had the choice to go back and do it again, I wish I could have done less steroids, even if it meant worse sx initially. I'm fearful that it may have triggered my pre-diabetes state.
-
I slept last night for the first time in over 2 weeks without a sleeping pill. Trying to break myself from using them now that I am PFC. It was hard falling asleep, and I woke up lots and up early at 5:30 a.m., but I'm thrilled to have accomplished it! Had lots of crazy dreams again. My subconscious is being very active processing all of this cancer stuff lately!
-
vickilind61 - So glad to hear that you're safe!
IndigoMont1 - Do you know where she got the shirt? I would love to get one.
Kjiberty - Hooray for you!!!!!! Soon you won't be needing all your headcoverings!
-
Isharvey, I only get steroids at infudion. I come back the next day for my shot (well, I did on AC. Don't now that Im on taxol) i didn't have to take anything orally.
Kjiberty, yay! So happy for you! 11 more weeks for me!
Fierro, glad you got a good night's sleep!
I had my sister's kids yesterday. Ages 6,5, and 3. Her hubby was having surgery so I babysat. Took them to the studio and they played dress up all day. Buggers would not take a nap. Haha But, they sat and watched Scooby for an hour while I rested. My partner helped me kid wrangle all day. I went to bed at 8:30. Haha
my feet are peeling. Starting to get some bone pain. Not huge, but enough to know it's there. Toe nails hurt. Feels like they are too long and shoved into shoes too small. Even though Im wearing flip flops. Watery eyes, still. Other than that, Im doing well. Going in to see the heart specialist this afternoon.
Good luck to everyone in the chair today. Have a great weekend! -
Sandik: I got a pedicure last Saturday and my toes feel exactly the same way yours do! I know she cut them short, short, short, because I look at them when they hurt, and I can see they are short. What's the deal? Don't like it!
Dance and Fierro: Congrats on a good night's sleep. Maybe there's hope for me!
Marcia: Thanks for the well wishes, unfortunately, I think I will need the headcoverings for a while.....Hopefully, maybe....Thanksgiving????
Chapter4: Try aquafor and cover them with socks. If it gets too hot, cut the toes out.
-
no steriods except premeds before chemo..
Marcia..I recieved a shirt from a friend that says..Hey cancer..you picked the wrong bitch..i love it..
website is http://www.cafepress.com/chucklenut/2619770

LSharvey-I only take the IV steroids w infusion. Then I enjoy the high then the crash on the 2nd night and down for a few days. The steroid crash and SEs from chemo hit together, except nausea which has started earlier each round. After the steroid high however I get the steroid mood swings, agression, and sorrow. Then carb cravings.
-
Dance so happy you are PFC. Good luck weaning off the sleep meds.

I forgot to tell y'all my husband came home a couple days ago and asked if I had a moment to listen to a song. I was lying in bed. He played me this song below which I had never heard. He layed beside me, turned the song on, and held my hand through it. I couldn't look at him until it was over or I would have broken down and not been able to finish the song. He is my inspiration. Here's a link:

DorisMarie - I have that shirt too, love it!
Chapter4 - I had a BMX from the start also. My left breast was cancer free. It is a very personal decision. For me it came down to what I felt were 3 "deal breakers"...1. I already lost my 1 in 8 chance of BC, dont want to play any more. (Call me a sore loser!) 2. I do not want to have to go in for a mammo on one boob every 6 months and "freak out" about it. 3. the PS said it is easier to make me 2 new boobs than try to match a new one to my left one. Again, personal decision, everyone is different and we need to make the decisions that allow us to sleep at night. This decision will allow me to sleep I am sure once I am off the darn steroids!
I hopped on here yesterday to vent...then I went for a walk, took a shower and hit the stores for some retail therapy AGAIN! Oh, my! I tried to stay busy and even made dinner (at 4pm!) I was craving chilequiles ?!? Really? So I went with that and they were amazing! I get full pretty fast, like some of you mentioned -- I piled my plate high but could not finish!
I have become acutely aware of how when the se's are at their peak how gloomy, sad, depressed I get and how never-ending this all feels. I really try my hardest to remember that once I feel physically better those mental feelings subside to brighter, more cheerful and hopeful thoughts!
I am heading over to the coast for a SUP (stand up paddleboard) session with a friend! Wishing you all a great day!
-
Hi Marcia! I don't remember for sure but I can ask my sis. It was some nonprofit cancer support organization. If you google it, you can find them at cafepress like she said or zazzle, too. There is a design with Rosie the Riveter that I like a lot too.
-
Sandik- Good luck at the heart doctor's appt today. I've been using Cetaphil cream on my feet and hands to prevent drying. In the morning, I lather that cream on my feet before I put my socks on. Sometimes in the evenings, I put the cream on and wear those aloe vera soft socks for a while before going to bed. As for the hands, I have dispensers of Cetaphil cream at every place I wash my hands so I'll remember to put lotion on my hands. I also have some of those cotton gloves from the drugstore and occassionally will lather up my hands with the cream and put the gloves on. Once those gloves come on, it means I am definitely lounging---- no cleaning or housework!!!
Kjliberty- Sorry the pedi went too far. Hope you are doing well after your last round!!!
Today is my sit around/lounge day/ sleep day after my Tuesday chemo round. So bored and would love to get out to go do some retail therapy..... WAHHHHHHH!!!!!! I don't take any sleeping aids to deal with the steroid " No sleeping allowed after taking" that accompanies the steroids. Fortunately, I don't work so I can rest/nap whenever.
Hope everyone has minimal side effects and is feeling good !!!!
-
@Stacie - my girlfriend's going thru this too (actually a couple of us all in our early 40s - scary) and she put me onto this song. I LOVE IT! I couldn't get your link to play so I'm going to repost it for everybody. Btw - he's a keeper!
Give him an extra hug from all of us!
-
That song came on my earphones just as they were finishing my breast MRI that caught the cancer in my right breast. It was a good thing they were done because I was crying.
One of my good friends is a 30 year survivor. She's been my rock thru all of this. Taking me to appts., chemo, & just being there. Our employee quit just after my surgery and my hubby has been taking on all of the farming by himself. He feels bad that he hasn't be able to go to the Dr.s with me but I tell him it's more important that he maintain the farm at this point.
-
love that song! Have since the first time I heard it!!
Chapter 4--love the new profile pic!
-
I F**&@'N hate cancer! I got to work this morning to find a girl standing on my door. She had a session this morning that I completely forgot about. Boudoir session. I never scheduled the makeup woman. Never wrote it in the book. The place was a wreck since the kids were here yesterday. I never, never, never, forgot sessions. I could remember anything you told me. Now, I'm lucky I know my own name. I hate what this crap is doing to me and all of you!
-
sandik--I'm sorry that happened. I can relate completely. Been screwing up all of my meds lately--accidentally took dexamethasone instead of ativan to sleep the other night. Hmmm....didn't work out so well.
Hang in there! Hugs
-
Congrats, Kjiberty! That's awesome. And I hope all you others who sat in the big girl chair this week are doing well. I go back next week for round 2.
I sat in another sort of big girl chair yesterday--the barber chair-- and now am sporting the close cropped buzz. I was surprised I didn't have more gray. I've colored my hair for so long I lost track. I still have quite a bit of brown left. Surprised the heck out of me! And I must admit, with the temps 90 and above,my head does feel cooler!
We are meeting friends for dinner tonight, but I'm wearing a wig. Not quite ready to go topless just yet. Am curious how much of what little I have left is going to fall out. Like you, Vickilyn, I imagine in a couple more weeks I'll have big bald patches. Oh well. . .I will rock my big earrings and scarves too.
-
DorisMarie - Funny!
Kjiberty - Thanksgiving will be here before you know it!
Trichick - I also had a BMX even though several doctors recommended lumpectomy and radiation only. I had fibrocystic breasts and had to have lumps checked out often and my mother had BC twice, once in each breast. I knew that if I didn't have the BMX, I would drive myself crazy wondering when I would get it again. As it turned out, it was in my lymph nodes, hence chemo and radiation. I am very happy with my decision. My BS was able to do skin and nipple sparing surgery and I consider myself very lucky. As you said, it is a personal decision and everyone has to do what is best for them. Your SUP sounds amazing. Have fun!
DorisMarie - Thanks for the link.
IndigoMont11 - I will do a google search. Thanks!
Isharvey and Stacie- Thanks for the link. I'm going to listen to it now.
sandik - That totally sucks! So sorry that happened to you. I also hate that feeling of having lost control of my brain.
Isharvey822- Oh! I just read your post. Even better!
-
I just listened to the song. I had my first good cry in a while. Loved, loved, loved it! I shared it on facebook and thank my supporters. Thanks for sharing it.
-
sandik - that totally DOES suck! I know I haven't been "on it" like I normally would be - especially when I was on the steroids and a few days afterwards. They really made me distracted and unable to focus. Even though there is a reason, it still sucks! <hugs>
