Cookiemonster. Hang in there. I figure any little progress we make is good:). I've had way too much caffeine today. Can't sleep:(
-
Hi, ATeamNana, I am so glad that you had a great time, and don't you worry, you will get on track once again. 3lbs is not bad, it is probably water and you can flush it out. I do the same thing when I am on vacation. I was giving up bread totally too, but I discovered if I just eat gluten free and oat bread once a day, it curbs my cravings for a whole loaf, he,he,he!!!
Hi, CookieMonster, have fun with your friend walking and talking. I am sure you will keep it up. I am finding too that if I can exercise, I must be in decent shape as well and I can cheat once in awhile. Enjoy your weekend, what a great idea to keep track of everything you eat, I am going to write everything down this weekend. Thanks, hon!!!!
-
Kathy .... I guess you are right about flushing the water weight out...this morning I weighed again and I'm back where I started before I left. I did weigh at night with clothes on when I got home so maybe I did not do as bad as I thought. I keep track of what I eat in Fitness Pal.. I did not do that the last four days...I really did not want to know how many extra calories I had...hahaha...
I have a Dr appointment this afternoon with GP so I am anxious to see what she thinks about my weight loss:) Just my normal yearly physical. We are keeping all four grandsons overnight so I will get plenty of exercise tonight also....
-
Hi, ATeamNana, I knew that weight would disappear, good for you!!!! Good luck with the GP!!! She will be very proud of your weight loss!!!!
-
Good for you ATeamNana! That's great to hear. I do think that our bodies are getting use to good eatting & exercise so if we indulge a bit, it's quicker to get right back on track. I'm sure your MD will be happy for you. A few weeks ago when I saw my MO I couldn't wait to get on the scale. NEVER was I happy to! I always dreaded that part of any MD vist. I couldn't wait to show my 12lb loss. It felt very good. Enjoy your. Time with your grandson's. :-)
-
TENAJ, 12 lbs!! That is so wonderful!!! My total is 12lbs. But since January,I am at a standstill!!! O.K. , you are my inspiration, young lady!!! I am going to pump it up!!! We rode our bikes today!!! We are going out to dinner tonight, healthy choices for me!!!! Love to you all!!!!!
-
Thanks Kathy, have fun tonight :-)
-
Hi everyone. My MD was very pleased with my weight loss. I had stopped taking my low dose blood pressure pill and I have not used my ambien for sleeping for the last three weeks. She was on board with both of those decisions. She said to just keep watch on my blood pressure to make sure. She is also changing my neuropathy med to lyrica. I was on gabapentin but really can't tell it helps much and I felt it made me groggy. So we will see how lyrica does. I need to step it up also to catch up I'm only down 10 pounds total. We have the two youngest grandsons down for the night (well at least they are down- still giggling:) two older ones watching a movie. So far so good:). "see" ya all tomorrow.

Been a busy week. For those that are interested, I saw a surgeon for my skin cancer which is located near my nose. Since it is a Basel cell carcinoma it grows very slowly. Glacial is the term that the surgeon used. So..... I don't need to schedule the surgery immediately. This is good because the healing process is several weeks although the scaring will be minimal and. I have several social events this summer coming up soon in which are important for me to attend. So, I don't need to schedule it until late summer.
I'm staying relatively flat on the weight issues. No gain no lose. Probably those gin and tonics on the dock LOL.... Had a great salad tonight. Spinach, roast beets, chicken and goat cheese salad with walnuts and orange vinigrette. Really easy to make and a great light supper. You can roast the beets up to 3 days ahead of time and store in frig til you need them. The orange vinigrette you just substitute fresh squeezed orange juice for vinegar and add olive oil and italian spices (fresh or dried). I also add the zest of the orange too. Just marinade the chicken ( shrimp would work too)in some of the orange vinigrette for an hour. Grill or sauté the chicken. Wash fresh spinach, toast walnuts over med. heat for a few minutes. Slice up some goat cheese. Assemble sliced beets, and goat cheese over fresh spinach, sprinkle with walnuts, add sliced chicken breast and dress with vinigrette. Voila! Simple, delicious and good for you too! -
Dear Snobird, I am sure that you are relieved that there is no urgency for your surgery. My mom had a basal cell removed from her upper cheek. The surgeon did a beautiful job and there was no scarring that we could see at all. Believe it or not, she never liked the sun and never sunbathed. My dad and she retired to Florida and the dermatologist told her that because the sun is so intense in Southern Florida, that even the small amount of exposure she had, caused this to happen. She was fine!! Thoughts and prayers are coming your way. Your dinner recipe made me drool
Thanks for sharing!!!! Hugs to everyone here and I hope you all had a great Sunday. Walking and watching our stepgrandson play ball was our exercise for the day!!!!!
-
Snobird so glad you are keeping us posted on your skin cancer and So glad it is slow growing. Wishing you the best when it is talen case of. I have never had roasted beets. Gonna have to try that. you always have the most interesting meal ideas. I would love to try them all:) have a great day everyone!
-
Snobird - glad the cancer is slow growing and that you can schedule surgery at your convenience.
I wish this weekend was as good for me food wise as for many of you. We went out Friday night for Mexican and while I only got a 1 item meal still there were tortilla chips, rice, beans, and of course a taco. Then Saturday we had company, then Sunday we got taken out to breakfast as a thank you (DS and I split something at least - but it was decadent anyway) then we had dinner out with my in-laws after a concert (Italian), so it was a food filled weekend, but I'm back on the tracking today!
I have 2 doctor appointments this afternoon, I have to go by work today and I have some laundry to fold now. Doubt I'll do serious walking at all as it will be too warm this afternon, maybe tomorrow morning after I drop DS off at camp, we'll see.
Have a great week everyone!
-
Hi cookie monster. Hope your dr apps went well. Sounds like you had a full and fun weekend. Good luck on getting a walk in. I have been off work a week so today was quite busy trying to catch up for me.
-
Other than one doc running 2 hours late, the appointments all went well. I discovered that my BS lives about a quarter mile from my parents, too funny.
PS says that I may come out of this next surgery with a drain - JOY. I'm not excited about that, but will live with it just fine, I'm sure. He also said that sometimes his patients stay overnight after the surgery - I hope that since mine's in the outpatient surgical center that means I can go home, I'm sure I'll rest MUCH better at home.
I think that's it for me - today was much better food wise!
-
Good morning ladies!
Snobird I'm glad that your are able to plan your treatment at your convience. My favorite drink for decades(LOL) was tanquery & tonic or 7-up, or ice tea....I switched recently to capt & dr pepper as my favorite. Keep your meal ideas coming, they all sound sound healthy & delicious.
CookieMonster, waiting for the MD's is the pits....I'm a typical NY'er as I have limited patience with waiting. Lol.......I see my PS today for the first time since my episode of cellulitis in March after my exchange. I look forward to this last step in my reconstruction, curious what revisions he has in mind, I have my own ideas. I also want to see pictures of nipples he constructed. I'm not sure if I should just get 3-D tats.
I have lost about 13 lbs since the last time he saw me. My plan is to loose at least another 15.
Have a great day everyone, don't forget to keep drinking lots of water. -
Hi, Tenaj!!!! Good luck with your PS, I am sure you are looking forward to the last step in reconstruction. Congratulations on your weight loss. You are awesome!!!! And you will lose that 15 in no time!!!! My scale broke, probably, too much weight on it, and standing on it too often, he,he,he!!!!
We have one downstairs in the gym. I may just use that one!!! I think I am just maintaining right now, I am eating O.K., not as good as I was, but I am either walking or doing the gym everyday. Splurged on good n' Plenty yesterday. I am also hooked on licorice. I have been eating alot of celery and it helps with my water retention. Hopefully all my weight gain is water
hugs to you all and keep on doing a great job!!!!
-
Hi ladies. Just popping in to say hi. I am maintaining also Kathy no gain no Loss so I guess that is good. I have been slacking so I'm not surprised. Have a good day all!
-
I was somewhat surprisingly down 1.2 this week, I'll take it! I haven't been walking because by the time I get back from taking DS to camp it's just too hot and I'm a heat wimp. Bought a lot of fruit, now need to eat it up before it goes bad.
Happy almost Friday!
ETA - forgot to mention that I'm currently in the middle of removing and then installing a new kitchen faucet - So far so good, we'll see how the second half goes.
-
Hello Ladies! I've been busy working & camping at the ocean. Going back to the beach today. I've been sleeping at home because we bought a new mattress this week & the bed calls me every night. I WAS having shoulder pain, even had a CT scan done last week, that was neg except for a bit of arthritis. Still waiting for results of chest CT scan, comparing last year, the waiting & worrying is the most difficult. But...I'm trying not to think too much about it & just enjoy everyday.
Anyway...the shoulder is much better & I look forward to sleeping in a comfy bed.
I too have been maintaining. My body is getting use to my new low & I have to work very hard to not give in to my urges. I have snuck in a few goodies latley. I tried the new Girl Scout mint cookie candy bar yesterday. Yummy!!!!
CookieMonster congrats on the weight loss. Good luck with you faucet install. We redid our kitchen this past fall in the middle of all BS BS!! So glad we did it, but I love my new faucet. The last of the project is to pick the tiles for my backsplash. Can't decide on what I want.
Hi Kindergarten, ATeamNana, SnoBird & any other ladies following. Have a wonderful weekend. Be healthy!! Lot of walking ,water, fruit & veggies. (((HUGS)))
-
Hi everybody. It sure is hot here. I have been spending a lot of time in the pool:) Tenaj glad your shoulder is better. Hoping all other tests come back good also. Camping at the ocean sounds wonderful. Cookiemonster how did the faucet turn out? Hi Kathy. Snobird how are you doing? I really need to get my eating habits back on track. Have a great Sunday everyone!
-
Good moring, Ladies. I have been away at a wedding in Raleight, NC. But you have all been in my thoughts and prayers. Yikes, it was 105 in Raleigh this weekend. Good thing, you want to drink lots of water and not eat as much. You were nudging me Tenaj to keep drinking water and ATeamNana, don't worry , you will get on track. Hugs, Kathy
-
Good Evening Ladies, It has been sooo hot here. Not as bad today & got to take a 3 mi bike ride after dinner. I'm back on track after a bad eatting weekend. Had my two meals of nonfat yogurt with peaches & blueberries with 4 servings of green tea today, chicken & salad for dinner. Lot's of water too. Kathy it's nice to hear that you think of me with the water. You help to keep me motivated & accountable to sticking with this. ATeamNana, you can do it. It's amazing how your body adjusts to eatting healthier. Once you detox a bit, there are less cravings. Enjoy swimming & those energetic grandsons. Kathy, you are some busy of a couple. You seem to be keeping busy in retirement. I do miss the school job for the time off....Have a wonderful evening, stay cool & hydrated
-
Hi all. Been crazy busy over the last few days. Lots of socializing. My eating is still on track but my alcohol has been more than usual with all this socializing going on. I finally got to go for a 10 miles ride today and it felt pretty good. If the weather holds maybe I'll commute tomorrow. Wishing you all a happy fourth of July.
-
Tenaj! You are so good at going right back to good eating habits, even after a weekend of food fun!! My friend calls being with friends and enjoying good food, food fun. You are very disciplined!!!! That is so great. ATeamNana, have fun with your family and grandchildren. Happy 4th of July everyone!!!!
-
Happy 4th of July Ladies!!! Have a great day & enjoy, treat yourself!!!!
-
Had a great 4th! It has been really hot here. Tried to do some shopping yesterday and pooped out before I got my list complete:( Hope everyone is doing well. My sister who is 65 and just had a sonogram that detected mass on her ovary they feel is suspicious. She has had recent heavy bleeding . She consults with a gyno oncologist Monday to see what they will do. She wants complete hysterectomy and no biopsy before removed. Pray they get it all and it is benign. They told her possible ovarian cancer. We r super close and she was by my side for almost all my treatment so i am taking off work to go along. Our mother had breast cancer and died of lung cancer five years later. Dad died of lung cancer 3 months before mom. Brother died of pancreatic cancer. You can imagine my fears. Hugs to all.
-
Dear ATeamNana, Please know that you and your sister are in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs and please keep us posted. Kathy
-
You and your sister are in our thoughts and prayers. Hopefully all is benign. I had a huge mass on my uterus over 10 yrs. ago that was the size of a grapefruit. Turned out to be a cyst. So we never know until it's out but we all know the fear and dread that your sister is going through. Keeping my fingers crossed for clean pathology.
-
Thanks guys. Please do keep her in your prayers:) I will know more tomorrow.
-
HUGS! ATeamNana - I hope it's all good news for your sister.
