Vicki...the bone pain sucks eh? Hope the tylenol - are they t3's - kick in soon to give you some ease.
Peace and hugs xx

juneaubugg, I have lots of sympathy for you with the Crohn's - I have celiac disease. I get the idea that celiac is a little more manageable even. My guts are not happy with the chemo and neulasta but this first time was manageable. The thing that knocked me on my butt was the neulasta fever. I mean, our immune systems are already overactive and then we get a shot to make it more active? ugh. but perhaps my next round won't hit quite so hard as the chemo does its thing. My GP gave me klonazepam for the anxiety. I take just a bit at night to turn off my brain and help me sleep. Some nights I need it more than others. just fyi, my breast healed up very well after my lumpectomy - the docs are always concerned about my healing up too with the autoimmune thing but for me as long as I keep my diet strict, I do alright. Best of luck on the surgery! I felt kind of in a rush and went for the lumpectomy but now I think I should just get the BMX - I totally don't care if I keep them. I look in the mirror and call them "traitors!"
jpmom and vicki and all chemo patients who keep working thru it: You AMAZE me! Good job! I want to be that woman. I am feeling kind of back to chemo-normal today and I just cannot imagine trying to work through the last couple of days. But knowing that many women do it and survive it helps inspire me. Thank you! I am terrified of the Taxol chemo. simply terrified. If I think about it much I will get panicky. But if you ladies - jpmom, tazzy, lostinmo, & anyone elsewho has done taxol/taxotere - can give me or oint me to detailed descrips of people experiences, it may help me. please?
& on an up note, my fever seems to have mostly gone & I took a bit over a mile walk the AM. woohoo! I really enjoyed it!
-
jpmomof3: where in NC are you? My in laws are in Wilmington so we get down there a couple of times a year.
2FriedEggs: darn it, already at dads when I read this. No scrubbed available. I understand from my girlfriend who is in our club that insurance should pay for t
My foobs though.
I have NO DOUBT that our love won't change, just that irrational fear. He is incredibly supportive, my best friend. We both waited until we were 40 to get married for the first time; this Halloween is 3 years. We are still falling in love and I know at the end of this journey our bond will only have deepened; but thanks all I needed to be reminded of that.
Vickilind61: cats are maintence... I had two hubby has one and the integration process after 4 years together continues. As soon as we moved in together I handed off litter boxes, etc in exchange for laundry. ;-). I can't imagine a cat free house. So much love from them. I have two CRAZY black cats and his is a wonderfully sweet tabby.
liefie: thank you; for everything you said. I totally identify with you and needed to hear that.
What an amazingly strong, intelligent and kind group of women I have found here. Just for today: I am blessed. (((hugs))) -
oh vicki, I'm so sorry about the bone pain. I too hope the tylenol knocks it back!
-
allurbaddayswillend: just saw your post. Thanks for sharing. Yes, strict diet is key right now.
-
only using extra strength tylenol. Still have oxy and vicodin from surgery but I HATE the way they make my head feel. Will probably ask for Darvocet or Valium before next tx. (Do they even prescribe darvocet anymore? Loved that stuff after my shoulder surgery in '77)
the D-train has entered the station. Pepto, do your job!
-
Vickilind, sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. Hope the SE's settle down fast for you.
4 more days til my last chemo infusion and counting. can't freaking wait.
-
juneaybugg-The surgery itself is really not that bad, the waiting is so much worst. Hang in there and keep youself busy, you won't worry about it when you're busy with other things, even if you're busy getting stuff ready for the surgery, it will still help. Will be thinking about you next week Tuesday, see you on the other side soon enough!
jpmomof3-I know what you mean about getting a high, I'm crazy about spinning and I went to support a spin off 3 weeks after my surgery and I actually get a high from seeing all those people on their bikes spinning. Don't worry we'll get back there soon enough, I just started back the gym last week and its been slow, I think it'll take me up to a year to get back to where I was in weight trainning but we have to start back somewhere, right?
vickilind61-Sorry to hear about your SEs of chemo, and hope that you feel better soon from them, especially your D-train.
allurbadday-Traitor is right! I actually glad to see them go if it means getting rid of this stupid cancer!!!!
-
Juneaubugg, hang in there, Honey. Things seem to be looming over many of us, myself included (needle localization + SN + segmental mtx tomorrow.) I'm glad you have the Xanax. As others have already said, it's understandable that you feel concerned abt DH's response, but I'm sure he loves you - and I'll probably make everyone gag with sentimentality, but I think Shakespeare was right: love looks not with the eyes but with the mind.
Soya, Wow! Woman made of toughness! I plan to swim, bike and jog vicariously through you, so keep us posted ;-}
JPMom, very cool that you are able to work - you're another woman made of tough stuff.
Tazzy, tomorrow is your last chemo? Last day of current cycle? I will keep you in my thoughts.
LostinMO, people keep talking about empathetic chemo brain, check this out: I thought until quite recently that your avatar/profile photo was a pic of an orca, not a black and white kitty! Duuuhhhhh... (I'm on an iPad and also needing stronger glasses.)
Hello to all our new ladies; I'm looking forward to "meeting" all of you when my hands aren't shaking so I can type properly at you.
So I guess I'll see you on the other side. Blessings to everyone I've missed, and peace and healing to all. -
Vickilind, did you try claritan for the nuelasta bone pain? And, if immodium doesn't work for the d train, call your mo and get something else. Also keep drinking dont get dehydrated with the d. Jueanubug, the wait is the worst thing. Also there is a thread for taxotete, and I think one for taxol, you can find much wisdom there.
-
MaddyMac-Will be thinking of you tomorrow, hope everything goes well and see you on the other side! Keep us posted!
-
Best wishes for tomorrow MaddyMac, i will be thinking of you!
-
Wow, was gone for a few days and have a lot of reading to do. Got a call from my BS that my port consultation has been moved up to 7/2 so they can ensure to get my port in before my first chemo treatment on 7/11. Now I'm getting a little nervous. Tomorrow is my chemo class so I need to study some of the other groups to get my questions in order. I also received a call from an herbalist that my ONC recommended so he can make sure that the supplements I'm taking do not interfere with my chemo. He was a pharmacist at the hospital I had my surgery at (who had cancer) and now focuses on herbs and supplements. Feel better knowing someone will make sure I won't be taking supplements that will interfere and counteract my chemo meds, which would be horrific going through all of it and finding that some OTC pill I took basically made it useless.
Can't believe it's already been 3 weeks since my BMX.
Welcome to all of the new members of our group!
-
Here is a link to see a photo of my feline furry buddy http://pbckt.com/py.Osulvk hope it works...
-
Tballmom, that is cool about the hebalist. Nice to know he really knows what is what!
-
jpmomof3: I'm in love: sch a cute kitty! Mine love those chairs outside on my deck too. They cuddle up there for hours!
-
I can't keep up with this thread, what a bunch of live wires!
Teeballmom, what an excellent idea. Wish I had access to someone like that. I asked my MO about taking some stuff along with the Femara scrip I got, and she didn't know.
My Oncotest was 25, but since my tumor was really highly ER and no node involvement, no chemo for me. Guess I shouldn't have asked for the test, but if my score had somehow wound up in the over 30 range, I would need chemo. I am looking at my Femara scrip, though, and not with fondness. I need at least another week to just look at it.
I have one darling cat that I am trying to come to an understanding with. His favorite trick is to attack my right arm when I am at my desk and he feels I have been here long enough. That's the arm I am trying to avoid lymphedema in.
I have to say, nothing bonds a couple like emptying drain bulbs together!
-
The Imodium worked. Been drinking lots of iced tea to stay hydrated. Bone pain is about what it's been all week. Feeling better. Still not too much to complain about. If the train tries to pull back into my station I will start the Imodium ASAP. Thanks for all teh good wishes.

Hi 2012 sisters
Looks like I'm joining you, I've read through many of the posts and I am liking the company, you are all amazing women.
I received the official diagnosis yesterday but 'knew' beforehand by how I was being treated.
Won't go into tons of detail right now but like many, found lump in shower. I was pretty busy earlier in year with my mother who fell and fractured her hip and humerus on the left side as well as busy with my family and work.
I'm 54 with four sons aged 17, 24, 26 and soon to be 29. I have 3 grandchildren.
Things are happening fast since yesterday's diagnosis - bone scan tomorrow, CT abdomen, chest and pelvis on June 26th and right total mastectomy with axillary node dissection on June 29th (no sentinel node as already have evidence of metastatic adenocarcinoma in lymph).
Looking at chemo 6 weeks postop and then go from there depending on pathology from surgery.
Glad to have found you all. -
websister-Sorry that you have to join us but welcome to this supoort group, you will find that its a roller coaster ride from the beginning with all the tests and waiting for results, but please know that we are all here for you!
-
Welcome websis, sorry you have to be here, though. This is a rough time for you with everything happening so quickly. Hang in there and ask if you have any questions. There are a lot of people in all stages of treatment here so someone should have answers. Much love, stay strong.
-
Vickilind, if you have to take more than three sets of immodium, call your mo for something stronger. I drink a lot of ice tea, but I drink it weak and unsweetened. If you like it stronger, just be aware that caffiene and sugar can make the D train move. Just FYI.
-
Vicki, I'm just adding to what Moonflwr said: some non-sugar sweeteners (xlitol and erythritol, maybe others) also move things along when you don't want them to...
-
Vicki: I hope you're feeling better soon
Websister: Sorry you have to be here, but welcome to an amazing group of women. We will support you in the good times and your low ones as well. They are moving very quickly. Sometimes, I think that's good... I was diagnosed on 1/27 and didn't have my surgery until 3/12. Lots of time of agonize. At least you know it will be over with soon and you will be on your way to recovery.
DianeNM: My oncotype score was 28 and both my BS and MO recommended chemo. My recurrence rate was 18%.
JPMOM: Cute kitty and dog! I love animals.
Tballmom: You are so lucky to have an herbalist!
-
Websister, so sorry you qualify for this group. Your head must be spinning. I know mine was at that point. Hope our experiences can help you in some small way. And feel free to vent and ask lots of questions.
-
Jpmom... it is the most wonderful feeling in the world. Knowing that when we walk out of that chemo room... that's it...no more bloody chemo - the only way is UP. I am doing the happy dance with ya. And that is a beautiful puddycat.
Allurbaddays... I had taxotere and from what I gather pretty different se's from taxol. Also on neupogen which is different from nuelsta - so I aint much help I am afraid. I haven't worked - lucky I had a huge sick bank - but listen to your body, rest when you can, and drink lots of water, and then some more. And like everything with this.. the waiting is by far the worst. Try not to think of the chemo as a beast to hurt you, but to kick cancers butt into touch - and if it makes you feel bad, imagine how the cancer is feeling - least that's what I
used to tell myself. And we are here with you. Happy to hear the fever has pretty much gone.Juneaubugg - I hear ya about the irrational fear - I have it too - sure we all do, but I was feeling pretty good about myself when I said what I said
Vicki.... My MO told me to take the pain killers (T3'S). Take what you need to. Just read a later post... happy you are feling better.
Good luck tomorrow Maddymac - will be thinking of you. Let us know. And tomorrow is my FINAL chemo, treatment # 8 finally it got here.
Teeballmom... nice news on the herbalist - so nice they all work together.
Welcome websister... I found mine in the shower too. You have been through so much this year. But you've found an amazing group of women. Here you'll be able to offload everything on your mind. I hope the scans will give you good news.
Kjiberty... I think it is wonderful when they move quickly. I was diagnosed Jan 12 and had my first chemo Jan 27. I was happy with that.
My MO was extremely happy with my progress today - she said that the 8+cm mass she could feel at the beginning had become more difficult to find as time when on and now felt more like granular lumps and if she is happy I sure am. Chemo sucks but it works.
I am sorry if I missed anyone.
I will check in tomorrow to see how you are all doing once I have done the happy dance home.
Peace and hugs xxxxxxxx
-
MaddyMac: thinking of you tomorrow/today....
Websister: welcome to a place where anything goes. Let it all hang out here.
Tazzy: glad to hear that indeed the days are passing and that someone is making some progress. I feel like I'm in that suspended time, the clock just ticks by while I wait. Soon enough I can finally move on to the solution and have surgery. I hate inaction.
That's so wonderful that the discomfort of all the chemo is having a positive effect on your mass.
Goodnight ladies... Hopefully some of us will get some sleep. -
Good Morning All
(Think it's morning) Off for taxol #3 so I will try to catch up with everyone when I get back from my benedryl nap.
Hope everyone has a good day.
MaddyMac thinking of you today
Tazzy- I think your in the chair today also? Hope it goes well.
-
Good luck today Tazzy, Maddymac and Lostinmo! I will be thinking of you ladies
-
Good luck today in the BGC ladies!
