Envious of all your great bands in the US. Had a hug off Rodney Crowell a few years back, awesome. I'm a fan of Roseanne Cash and of course Emmylou Harris who I've seen play a few times.

Today I had a manicure which was lovely. Teeming down with rain here so I'm watching a disaster movie on tv..this week it's the turn of Seattle to meet disaster

Soleil, she is in the "Hidden Away" video at about the 2:03 mark.  She is walking behind the bench--blue shirt, khaki shorts.  Like I said, her half second of fame.  Ha!

Hey Reesie, so sorry I missed you on Sunday. I was planning on going to mercer park. It's pretty much around the corner from me.....but then my son had practice for the little league playoffs and dark clouds and thunder kicked us off the field. We winded up going home and I never made it to mercer park...

so yesterday, despite being a miserable psychic mess, I made it to Petco, bought 3 fishys.  I'm now the proud mom of 3 fishys.  They are living in my wringer washer. Last December, I picked up an old wringer washer from Craig's list,  part of my plan to feel hope.  This May, I  painted it.  Well, sort of.  I discovered i'm not much of a stenciler.  So, my grandaughter spray painted it periwinkle and I managed to paint a picket fence , grass and two vines on it.  Not too bad.  I put the baby fish in there last night, they are so cute!  I'm going to buy a fountain bubbler at Home Depot for the pond.

Next is the turtle habitat.  Working on that one this afternoon after work.  I always put a few hours in Sat mornings to make sure all is well.  Then the day is mine, being in the yard usually cures most of my ills.  I have some painting to do, but I'm worrying about the fumes.  I may actually put on a maske and do it today.

Tomorrow, I'm meeting my daughter and her babies in Chicago.  Hoping to take them to the sprinkler in Millenium Park.  Can't wait.  Here's wishing you all a great weekend.  Anybody doing anything special out there in the world?

    Nancy,

That is so cool!  You look beautiful and happy.  Thank you for posting. How awsome!  Can't wait to see Reesie's pictures.  I have to figure this out.  My teenage grandaughter lives with me during the summer.  I'm sure she will be able to help me soon.  I'm such a techno dope.

i bought a wig off of ebay.. it was way to blond.. so i dyed it in streaks with a toothbrush.. chestnut brown.. i did some before a service.. seemed to work and added some more brown streaks afterwards.  it looks really good.

i have to wash it and see.. it's synthetic and doesn't seem to be color shedding.

Thanks for the kind words, it really was an incredible night.  One of my work friends nominated me for the Honorary Bat Girl contest, which is put on by major league baseball and Komen.  Each team selects a BC survivor to represent the team and I was lucky enough to be selected for Seattle.  It was such an honor, I can't tell you how grateful I am.

The most special thing was my father-in-law, who has always been a huge baseball fan, flew in from Ohio for the event.  He was so excited to be down on the field, meet the players and the manager...it was really amazing.  It was a special night and one I'll never forget.

Yes, that is my own hair...stringy, thin, and faded dishwater blond as it is, I'm happy to have it!

Nancy,  you are crazy.  Your hair is beautiful!  First thing I noticed was your hair.  so pretty!

Apple, you are so smart.  I never would have guessed you could dye a wig.  I was supposed to get a wig from American Cancer Society.  Still hasn't come.   I guess i'll have to buy one soon.  Mid July is the Atlanta Gift Show.  I'm a vendor, have to dress nice for the big bucks shops.  I'm not sure if the ball cap will do it at that hoity toity show.

Nancy, I just have to tell you ....you look absolutely radiant in those pictures.  HOpe you have more beautiful days ahead.

Nancy, those are great photos. What a feeling that must have been to be in the middle of the stadium. So sweet that your father inlaw came to be there. You are quite a remarkable woman!!

Apple, what kind of dye did you use on the wig?  I have a totally blonde one that needs some streaks but I don't know what to use.  Mine is synthetic too. Thanks!

Last weekend I travelled to Atlanta for a family gathering of first, second, and third cousins. Just three "lines" of the immediate family, but still a bunch of people. Spent extra time with one of my most favorite cousins and his wife. Reconnecting with the ones that are special is high on my list. Technically, I was travelling to help my Mother get there, but managed to have fun anyway!

Yesterday was my first visit to a Farmer's market for the season. Man have the prices gotten high! This summer I will have to drive out to a Lexington farm for my basic local vegetables and save the market for the more unusual offerings.

Last night, I had dinner with another member of this forum. We had the best time. Ate at an Irish pub in a young and happening neighborhood, and then went for ice cream. Boston knows how to do ice cream and I don't think anyone should visit my city without a visit to one of our outstanding ice cream shops.

The rest of the week needs to be devoted to getting some work done. My current project is NOT my favorite and I find myself in work-avoidance mode [like posting here!]

    Susan,

I think I am jealous of you and your life.  Sounds like so much fun.  Weekend is almost here, so happy.  I'm having a garden party for my family.  My niece has been transferred to Dallas, so exciting for her.  So, I'm having a garden luncheon.  Fun for me.  This weekend is also my shops 20th year celebration, so we're having a big promo.  Looking forward to the entire thing

Weather here is perfect; so sunny, warm, grass so green, sky so blue.  I'm just drinking it all in loving every second I am here on earth.

Anybody else doing weekend things?  Please share.  I love joy

Oh tell us about your garden party. What will you serve? How many people are coming to wish your niece well in her new life?

We have just finished three days of rain, so when the sun appeared today, lots of damp Bostonians started to smile. Went to a farm about 20 minutes from here [Lexington MA] and bought all sorts of local foods. Peas, rhubarb, strawberries, garlic scapes, snow peas, lettuces, and spinach. I do love this time of year. The produce grown in Massachusetts is so wonderful. Also picked up some golden Honeydew melon.

I can talk about food for hours, but I won't. :-)

oooh a shop! What kind of shop Soleil?

My kid brother (39!) is coming up from London to see me this weekend and I was hoping to draft him into painting my daughter's bedroom white. She also wants a white carpet but with 2 dogs, 2 cats and 3 people who seem unable to remove their walking boots at the door, this ain't happening!

My son (14) has a drama exam on Saturday which I will be taking him to and then afterwards he wants to go clothes shopping (I had to sit down when he said that!) In his life, he has chosen something to wear for himself once. He keeps coming downstairs asking what I think of his outfit (boring - old jeans and a dark tshirt). He denies there is a girl involved (although he has lots of girls who are friends). I have my suspicions as he also got me to dye his hair last week..... Mmmm need to get Sherlock Holmes on this (or at least a sneak of his FB LOL)

Then on Sunday it is a year to the day I sneaked a look at my CT results (stupid, stupid, stupid) and found I was stage IV but I'll be skipping over that one and doing something much more interesting except I don't know what yet!

Is there a foodie thread? I like to talk food too except I very rarely cook as it's my husbands way of unwinding at the end of the day

Maybe we need a foodie thread, although some days, I can't even read about food without feeling a little queasy  ;)

I have a gift shop in a tourist town.  I love this life.  I came from the city, where I taught junior high.  Drove an hour each way, taught in a city, not always the nicest atmosphere.  I loved the kids but I had to get out after a shooting.  So, I came here where doors are left unlocked and bunnies run through the yard.  I love it.  Owning my own business is very fulfilling to me.  Alot of work, but not as much money.  So, a few years ago, I added an import business.  I design and sell sock monkeys, garden flowers, plush snowmen and halloween decor to stores across US and Canada.

This business is quite the challenge.  I was living on the road alot, actually discovered the cancer after passing out at a show.  Anyway, I've a hired a road gal.  She's great.  She loves the road and I get to stay here and run things now.  Kind of fun.  Once my grandaughter arrives for the summer, I am going to learn how to post a picture and I will post one of my sock monkeys and my wringer washmachine fish pond.

Susan,  that farm sounds awsome  Can't even imagine how good a fresh picked honeydew would taste.

Alesta, your son is just acting like a teenager.  Have fun shopping!

I'm heading for Albuquerque new Mexico next week. Going to spend a couple days introducing myself to my new granddaughter, Katie and visit with my grandson Andrew. It will be fun and exhausting. I can't wait to see them.

Yes, we need to be having fun!!!  It's fun to read all the things that other people are doing!  Today I get to share that I'm going on vacation to Seattle and an Alaskan cruise!  I'm really looking forward to relaxing and seeing the beautiful scenery!  Also, I want to add that this week I passed a licensing exam that I've been working on for YEARS.  Last year I took the test and failed (booooo) but this past week I took the test and passed and will be licensed now!  It's a good feeling because I took the tests after being diagnosed stage IV so it's nice to know that being stage IV isn't stopping me any time soon!  I hope everyone enjoys the start of summer and I will try to figure out how to post pics when I return.

Going to a baby shower today. I have never actually been to one before; not one of my friends ever had a baby [while I knew them.] And I was in the process of moving from Montana to North Carolina when I had mine. My friends in Montana threw a party, but not for the baby. That was all about me.

My gift is actually three items that work together. They are all wrapped. Cards on each one. The Mom-to-Be is one of my daughter's good friends and she asked that I be included. Now I just have to figure out where in East Boston this young woman lives.

My family just left.  I had the best luncheon.  I used to cook, stopped awhile ago. Suddenly the urge is back in me.   I love cooking, don't know how I forgot that. Anyway, it was fiesta with guacamole, fajitas and salad.  Worked out quite well.

Now, I'm getting ready to go out to California to see my grandaughter graduate.  This is a very special day for us.  I can't wait.

Alaskan cruise sounds so amazing!  I've heard that the scenery is stellar, awsome, majestic.  Oh, I am jealous of the Alaskan cruise.  Alaska is on my bucket list, hope I make it up there.  Have fun!  Do post pics
