Hair Hair Hair - Another question

1) what type of chemo you had and how many treatments
4 A/C followed by 4 Taxol every other week on each.
2) Did you lose you hair - YES/NO
Yes, just when they said I would
3) If YES, % lost (approximate)
100%. There was still some stubble on the A/C, but the 4 Taxol treatments took care of that...
4) Did your hair come back curly? YES/NO with curly defined as wavy or curly NOT typical of your previous hair
Yes, much curlier than my slightly wavy hair. Happily, the color was always there - I never went gray. I was really scared by reading all the stories of people having their hair grow in gray, but friends kept telling me not to worry, and they were right!!
5) Months PFC (post final chemo) and are currently curly YES/NO
9 1/2 months PFC, still curly and dry, even though I had a Keratin treatment put in - that lasted all of 1 month before the chemo curls came back. I think of it as a fluffy brown dandelion.
-
seagrover & Yvette...me too! I always had a few pesky black chin hairs that had eventually turned white but THIS is something else! My DD said I needed to wax it but I am afraid it will come back even worse. I keep hoping that they will disappear. I am tempted to shave it but that scares me too. It is even on my neck under my ears.
Have anyone had this and had it just disappear on its own?
-
I had the white downy hair on my face...my hair stylist shaved it away when I went for my first trim and it never came back. You can also use a Clio shaver and DIY.
-
thanks...I think I will try a small spot and see what happens!
-
OK I did it....dry shaved a spot and will see what happens....great, now I have razor burn...didn't even use soap. Sure wasn't like real hair...was like the bunny hair that first appeared on my head...weird!
-
Ouch, that's why it might be a good idea to use the Clio... I think it's a little more gentle on your skin.
-
What is a Clio? Have never heard of it. Maybe we don't have it here in Canada? I could have used DH's shaving cream or soap but I thot oh what the heck it's just a small spot. It's not that bad...used face cream after. LOL
I was so gentle I hope I got it all on that side. If it grows back I will freak! I guess it is a disposable razor for women? If so, that is what I used...same as for my legs.
-
It's a little thin razor used for "personal" grooming.
-
thanks....I know what you mean but they are called something else here. Hopefully I won't need them anymore.
I have seen them but never bought them...I use the regular lady disposable ones...
-
Guys, I'm telling you the Nair facial hair remover cream worked like a charm and only took 5 minutes! I didn't even buy the actual "Nair" brand...I bought the CVS Pharmacy brand and it cost like $4 or $5. Mine has not grown back =]]

Sandy...I will get some and try it on the other side LOL I will compare and see what is best. Was yours like fur too?
-
Sorry ladies I'm LOLing here. We get hair where we don't want it and not enough where we do!!
-
I'm 18 months PFC and I still have the peach fuzz (face, back, neck, arms, ears) but not as bad. Seems I'm the only one who notices. I read somewhere that when you were a baby you had this but it eventually falls off and not grow but the follicles are still there. Some people it takes longer to fall off. I think I'm going for the worlds record.
-
OMG NNNNOOOOOooooo I am covering my eyes LOL
-
Yes, mine was like fuzz, but it was getting REALLY long and it was pure white. I couldn't take it anymore, I was freaking out! Not only has it not grown back, there's no stubble or other sign that it will grow back at this point. God bless the ladies on this site! I think it was Lago who told me about that option. hahaha!

Not me but people give me credit for lots of stuff that I didn't say or recommend all the time.
-
Well, "hair" I am in my new profile photo. Never thought I'd be posting a bald photo online, but I feel really comfortable with all of you
-
Sandy - i'm curious, how long ago did you use the CVS version of Nair? i may try that instead of another wax session
Thanks!!
-
You still have good eyebrows Joan!! Personally not ready to put up my bald pic but changed my Avatar to my pic with hair.
-
Thanks My Left Boob! I can thank my father for the thick eyebrows. I have really long eyelashes too. Both brows and lashes have thinned, but since I am almost 4 weeks PFC I hoping I won't lose anymore and that it's all hairy from hereonin.
-
Okay so I am feeling a little bummed as both Kelly and Yvette were done chemo about the same time as me but I dont have half the amount of hair they do:(.
-
whatashocker, please try not to feel too bad (i KNOW how hard that is!!)... i had an appointment with my colorist ~5 weeks ago & she told me i didn't have enough hair
i was devastated & cried all night!! it was 5 days before going back to complete my double mastectomy & i was determined to not be in the hospital looking like an old man!! my niece was visiting (she's a professional) & dyed it for me. i felt better but i still looked like chemo head
in fact, i just measured it & it's only 1inch long & it does have areas that are thinner than others. i use a touch-up colored stick to fill it in. big hugs!!
-
Don't feel bad whata - I really don't have that much
-
Thanks Yvette for the encouraging words. On Christmas day my 14 year old sin helped shave my head, so we are waiting anxiously for the hair to return. All the men in my family (DH and 2 DS) have more hair than I do. Isn't that ironic. My mo said at 12 wks I should have a good GI Jane going on but I'm not there yet. I am so done with head coverings! Hair pls. Eye hair and head hair. I called around looking for Latisse and I guess you can't get it in Canada with a prescription:(. As for the Amazon biosil hair nails and skin they won't deliver it to Canada. Funny thing is that I was in Florida for the last ten days for a holiday and if I was smart I would have gotten both then.
I am happy all if you ladies with good growth are successful however. Good for you! Mine will come..... just not soon enough. -
I am 10 days post 2nd T/C. I have lost most of my hair but have a sparse amount over my entire scalp. I did shave it as close as possible when it started to fall out. The stubble has stopped falling out completely and is actually growing! I really thought I'd be shiny bald but actually look like a baby bird! I'm not complaining that I have a little left but is this unusual on T/C? Should I expect it to fall out completely? I have 2 more treatments left.
-
Joanquilt.. Nice avatar.. you look great

rnforbabies
I did 4 TCH and had my hairdresser buzz what hadn't fallen out quite close. Most of that never did fall out and I never had the shiney head thing either. So its totally possible it might never go totally.
-
-
I am on 6 T/C and my stubble never fell out, it is kind of "growing" like peach fuzz all over and I have 2 more to go.
