I have an Apple desktop which I inherited from my brother-in-law and an Acer netbook which was a present from my son. I would have an i-pad except for cost. My son (who also does not work for Apple) has everything Apple. He has an i-phone, i-pad, mini which runs netflicks on his TV. They also have windows computers they were using for work at a previous job. DH and I gave each other i-phones for our wedding anniversary and attended a class at the Apple store to explain what it can do.

sorry to tell you but i read quite a few articles about putting the computer on your lap is not the best thing for your body.think about it.Maybe im a little nuts with these things but its the same as the heating pad,electric blanket even the microwave...
-
Lauren, You asked about game sites. Check out Pogo.com. Scads of games of almost any type. Most of the multiplayer games can be played against the computer so no wait times. If you are on Facebook (I'm not on Facebook) you can also play it there. A lot of the games are free but membership and full access to all the games is only about $40 a year.
-
Chabba - pogo has an app, which I downloaded. Thanks for the recommendation!
Granny - you're probably right about putting it on your lap. I usually put in on a pillow though for comfort.
Love the apple TV. I watch Netflix and can get shows and movies from iTunes. Can also stream pix from my MacBook or iPad. I'm such an apple groupie! -
Granny on mark as usual.. there was a study a few years ago. Particularly related that the heat to guys testicles could affect sperm production. Don't remember anything related to women, but they may have not made that part of the study. Poor dear son didn't want to hear that from mom.
I'm getting kind of excited about new stuff---Apple sounds like the way to go. Think I'll see what consumer report has to say.
6 month Labs -all very good
-
Heard about that study months ago..............told my grandkids......but we all know how they listen......finally the 13 year old (that I take care of while my daughter works), got tired of hearing me bitch, and wanted his computer back (which I took off him), and did sit at the kitchen table...................kids today don't stand a chance......between the environment killing us, processed foods, pesticides, and all the other shit...........who needs radiation to the "testicles"...............................one day they will thank me........................hahahahahhahaha

Hey all - sas just called me and her computer is down, so she can't post for awhile. Don't be worried - it is just a techological issue!
-
I use a piece of 1/2 inch foam core board as a desk for my netbook. It balances on my lap and has just enough room for the computer and mouse. It does get pretty warm, so I believe it's not good directly on your lap.
-
Did anyone hear about the electric blanket,heating pad and microwave?
think about that one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Thanks SpecialK for posting about SAS's computer problems....
Cindy -
Yeah I heard about that stuff granny. Still, when I was recuperating from surgery at mom's house I used the electric blanket. It's cold in that house. I rarely use a heating pad, and I have stopped using the microwave. In fact, the microwave will soon be moved to Goodwill. I should take more care about the laptop. I use a platform for it, but I read somewhere that there needs to be something of a certain number of inches between the laptop and the lap, so I should be putting a pillow under the platform. I've been too stressed about other things lately to worry much about that, though. I'm more worried I'm going to jump off my local bridge. It's a loooong ways down. Ah, but hopefully my new MH doc will help me.
-
Heating pad and electric blanket I can do without. Microwave I need. I love Healthy Choice dinners!!!

Heading to bed after RHNY is over. My eyes are killing me! Nighty night ladies.

Morning, ladies! DUNE, actually, when you think about it, despite becoming an official poor person and the usual derangement that comes with cancer, in just two short weeks and some days, you'll get you a REALLY long Fourth of July weekend!!! I'm glad you'll see a counselor, maybe they'll have some tips on various worries you have, I gave you some already on how to pull money out of thin air.
Lovin all the computer talk, the old classic Sim City I've been looking around for, found a place to download it free, it's retooled to work on our newer system, our old disk won't work. I used to play it pretty much every morning to start out. I actually need a one-dimensional space-planning program, I've used some 3D stuff online that's ridiculously complicated.
I watched "Seabiscuit" again yesterday, and caught "Secretariat" last week, but my fav horse movie is Francis Ford Coppola's "Black Stallion," wonderous. We're still getting rain in NC, but the system that was in here a few days ago is gone, those clouds were bugging us. Husband and I get out of sorts in various bad weather, our bones hurt. A tree frog got to singing outside the computer window, scared the daylights out of me! I'm used to crickets and grasshoppers, love the sound on a hot summer evening, but a frog! Husband finally saw it and I calmed down. i visualized some of our girls' giant tropical bugs visiting here. Love to all my sisters, GG
-
Dogeyed - watched Seabiscuit just last night....what a great movie....and told DH that we now need to see a movie about Secretariat.
-
Dogeyed. I just borrowed Secreteriat from my library. Have heard it is very good. Will have to check the other movie you mentioned...
Cindy -
Another day. I guess I ought to get up and drink my ick. I'm liking looking toward retirement right now and only have a bit of anxiety. A really long 4th of July holiday. Sweet!
I'll check in with you later. Have a nice day.
-
I was doing pretty good straightening up the house and then I sat down, pulled out my computer and started chatting with my sister on FB. A dear friend called and we talked for an hour. Must get back to work. I'm still in my pajamas.
Have a great day everyone. Its raining here.
-
Veggy - too funny because that's exactly what happened to me yesterday.
Going for my follow up with my PS later. Big reveal - I hope I'm happy with the new girls. I already feel they are a) too small and b) different sizes. Should make for an interesting appointment. -
BAD NEWS: computer crashed. Hard drive toasted.
GOOD NEWS: happened right after backup; bought a brand new computer for half the price of the old one, and the tech was able to move all my data over.
BAD NEWS: there was no place to plug in my old ergonomic keyboard, so I had to use the one that came with the computer. HATE IT! Worse than the laptop keyboard. Can't type for #$%^&& on this one!
GOOD NEWS: Ordered a Microsoft Natural Ergonomic WIRELESS keyboard and mouse and I should be back to normal in two days. Funny what we get used to.
~~~~~~~~~~~
I play Scrabble with Robots on Pogo.com. I use the free version, and just switch to my Solitaire game during "Intermission."
-
Very cool Blessings. Enjoy your new computer!
-
Need prayers for my daughter..............she got called back for a redo of her mammogram........there was a voicemail from the hospital on her phone......she is going to call tomorrow, and set up another mam.............
-
Oh ducky. You bet. Chances are she is fine, but still, the fear is nightmarish.
-
Positive vibes coming you and your daughter's way. I used to be recalled about every other time, so usually it's about nothing. (((((HUGS)))))
-
Prayers for your daughter, ducky......
-
prayers coming right up Ducky.
-
Prayers for your daughter Ducky!!!! I used to get called back too.
-
Prayers for your daughter, Ducky. Lots of hugs coming your way.
-
Hugs, hugs and more hugs!
-
Ducky, hope your daughter will be okay.
LADIES, I have to share something with you!!! Bonnaroo 2012 has been going on in TN for a while, and it reminded me of an MTV-type documentary for Bonnaroo 2004 from the festival footage, a tad disjointed, but one of my fav songs from the group "My Morning Jacket" closed out the documentary, by singing from their album "It Still Moves," the song "Golden." Enjoy it my dear sisters. GG Just push the arrow button when it comes up.
