    RE survey

    Age 49

    1) TX was TCH X 4, with H until the end of 12/12

    2) After 2nd chemo it was coming out alot so I had my head shaved

    3) 100% with the exception of stubble which stayed

    4) So far straight of what I can tell, was a bit wavy before TX. Hair is there but I don't have full coverage yet

    6) just a little over 7 weeks PFC

LOL, thanks you all. Yes, my hair is quite thick from nature, and even with menopause and AIs it seems to be holding up OK, although it is thinner than it used to be when I was young.

would be a lot to go thru at 19.......altho a girl who had the same surgeon as I did and had the same DX...was only 22...she sailed thru the chemo and went to school every day. I could hardly function!

Wishful thinking on my part. God I had good hair at age 19!!!

Here's a pic of the back of my head.  Its starting to darken a bit.  Seems I have a heat rash from the wig but its not itcy or anything.  At least the wig hides it when I go out.  Does this look like normal growth 7 weeks PFC.  Be honest.  Sorry for the large pic.  Lago can you give me a tip on how to resize?

I think I just edited one out.  Not real sure why 2 posted.  It was much more white a couple of weeks ago.

Kelly I was in Florida for 10 days and saw alot of growth in that period. I do think it was the warmth, wind and sunshine. I really didn't want to leave because of the extra growth.

myleftboob everyone's hair grows at different rates. I hair as always grown fast. I was on Herceptin and my hair still grew at a pretty fast pace (but sped up even more after Herceptin). It's summer now and even my stylist is saying how fast it's growing. I'm now cutting it every 3 weeks.

If you look at my hair transition thread you can see 3.11.2011 is 7 weeks (and 1 dayTongue out) My hair might have started to grow before chemo ended but I wasn't looking. I figured nothing would should up anyway before 3 weeks PFC so why stress. As you can see I have a lot of growth even the week before! I was quite the chia pet. Now if only my eyebrows and lashes filled in like my hair but after all this time I think what I have is what I'm going to have. Lashes aren't too bad but I really wish I had a few more brow hairs.

Looks like you figured out the picture thing.

Leftboob, I think that is quite normal. It seems like it will NEVER get going, and then suddenly you have hair.

You do have fast growing hair!!  Mine is better on the back then the front at this point.  At least its growing so I should be happy about that regardless.

Mine seems to have taken off also.  My youngest DD told me this weekend that I can pull off the extremely short hair...LOL.  I wish I had the guts to ditch the wig right now.  It's only about 1/2 inch long...just can't do it yet.

    Survey

    Sandy:

    Age 42

    1.  TAC (Taxotere, Adriamycin & Cytoxan) X 6

    2.  Hair started coming out on day 14 of first chemo round, had to shave it on day 17

    3.  Lost 100% of my hair, eyelashes, brows, everything.

    4.  One inch of hair now, feels like it might be curly (just wavy before BC)

    5.  3 1/2 months PFC (February 21st was my last tx)  Just began growing back recently.

1.)4 DD AC, 12 Taxol, Rads, Tamoxifen

2.) Yes - by day 21 after first tx

3.) 100% - cut short, shaved, then bald but a few stubbies hung in there. Very thin eyelashes and brows, leg-gone, nether regions--mostly gone. All grew back quickly. Using Latisse for lashes. It really works.

4.) YES!  Stick straight hair w/o a flat iron all my life. Now very wavy, darn near curly, white chemo hair color grew out first, now darker behind the chemo white (which I just colored)

    5.) almost 12 weeks PFC

    Elizabeth & Momine looking great!!

Momine, i saw your previous pic a few months ago & thought: she looks amazing!! when i get *there* it's off with the Halo!! last week was my first time out & about with good feedback :)

yesterday i met some ladies for brunch (some knew i had BC & others didn't) with my new pixie hair. i felt so uncomfortable in my own skin... ironically, i finally reached an age last year (44) where i very confident & BAM!! BC hit me like a two ton truck & smashed my self-confidence. i've NEVER had short hair so as much as every tells me it looks great, i still feel so unfeminine & boyish. due for color (TONS of gray peeking through but i use a washable coverage that is applied like mascara). all i can say is: GROW HAIR GROW!!

here's what a few days shy of 12 weeks PFC looks like on me:

I had lost my brows in Feb and they haven't returned:(. Can you please tell me if I can get latisse without a prescription? If I can't, than from what type of doctor do I get the prescription? My head hair is growing faster than my eye hair.

whatashocker, i lost mine too but got Latisse from my plastic surgeons office - it's not over the counter. i didn't need a prescription but i had to sign a waiver. i paid $132 for one 3ml kit (solution + applicators) & they gave me a second kit for free. i started the using it on April 16 & just finished the first bottle last night.tip: it comes with multiple applicator brushes. you can use one brush for both eyes rather than one brush each eye. this will save on running out of applicator brushes :) also, many are nervous to use it becasue it can darken or change your eyecolor to brown. this is true BUT only if it's apllied directly into the eye (which you won't do) at great amounts.

once i started using it nightly on my brows (the area where they one were!!) & lash line they grew back fast!! so fast that i only use it on the brows once a week now :) good luck!!

Yvette, you look smashing! I think short hair like that is very feminine, in saucy, French sort of way.

Momine & Yvette, you both have wonderful heads of hair!

When I started going without my wig last August, I found it easier to begin by going out-of-town.  My doctor's office is an hour away, so I went there.  I went to Lake Erie and was not self-conscious in the crowds of beach-goers.  Face it, if you saw a bald woman at the store or doctor's office or on the beach, you really wouldn't react negatively.  I figured there's a lot more bizarre looking people out there than some middle aged woman who's hair fell out and is now growing back in.  It was liberating.

Yvette you have an amazing amount of hair compared to mine. When was your last chemo? You also look very chic with your hair style. Like a Hally Barry ( I am positive I didn't spell it right).

Yvette - I am a few days shy of 12 weeks PFC too and I have about the same amount of hair.  Mine is much more gray though.  Between the hair and your sunglasses you look like a movie star....fabulous!

thank you Momine & DivineM!! o how i'd love to be wearing this dark version of Mia farrow in Provence or NY... that would be splendid!!! however, it's the SF Bay Area in CA for the time period :)

i will say, i wore it to the office last week for the first time & everyone was really supportive :) several thought i cut my hair after my recent *holiday* (aka part 2 of of my bilateral mastectomy -> some holiday!!) & were in shock when i explained it's regrowth from going through chemo. i worked during that time & i thought i looked like Hell (thank G for great cosmetics!!) but must have fooled a few. we are truly most critical of ourselves...

whatashocker, Kellogs & myleftboob - thank you so much!! i should have posted a pic sooner, all your + comments have brought a smile to my face :) i'm so happy to have hair again but wish i had some longer pieces in the front. feels like it's been forever & there are days when i wake & hope to see instant growth, lol!! patience Yvette, patience...

my last chemo was March 22. 4 dd of A/C followed by 4 dd of Taxol. i had it dyed just before going in for surgery on May 15 but very due again for another dip of color for my roots.

again, thank you for all the positive feedback!! no one understands this like we do...
