Ah, Barb, that really s*cks, but leaving this hated job has to turn out to be a good thing.  If I'm right you have one more year (or two) before you can draw SS if you want, and if you need to work now I hope you can find something with much less stress than you've had.  Wish they'd offer you some sort of retirement incentive like 3jays mentioned, but with the insurance!  Hugs to you.

Isabella, DH strikes again, I see.  Oh well, at least you got the lawn mowers working even if it was a headache.  I understand about the old photos, as I have all the pictures from my Aunt Kate and am not at all sure they'd mean anything to my children.   I still plan to get the old photos put on discs though, in the hope that someone, someday, will be interested in their heritage.  (Although by the time somebody is interested, CD's will probably be replaced by something else!)

DD's wedding countdown is on, less than 3 weeks remaining and her mother is beginning to panic.

I am queen of the comfortable shoes. The last time I wore heels was for a wedding 6 years ago and they were low well constructed ones. Now I wear Clarks, slides, Easy Spirit slides, great inner structure, and others with great support and stability. I fall over easily enough with these numb feet!

My husband decided the paddock needed to be mowed so he had it done by the lawn guys but it was expensive! So, DH bought a 22" swath Toro and proceeded to mow for several hours a day the last three days and it still isn't done! I think he may be rethinking that price. :)  DH refused to even consider a riding mower that would have recouped its cost in about 7 mows.  I have just bit my tongue as he has discovered each step of this new adventure.  The paddock had thick weeds comeup quickly after it was originally mowed so DH couldn't use the mulch feature and had to stop to dump the bagger about every 40 feet. This is a two acre area.  He is saying it will be much faster with just the mulcher but I know this is going to grow like crazy. I really should put some goats out there.

All this is so our two dogs will have a big fenced in area to run and play in. DH is a very good doggie Dad.

BarbA - so sorry corporate is such suckage. ((hugs)). You're so talented.  I've been concerned for you and I'm simply glad to hear "what's up" and trust that in the end you'll find something to fill in the gap.  Like 3jays said, corp just often tries to rid themselves of "older" workers but you need the insurance.  Cobra (Isabella, that's the private extension one can get to company insurance) is often way too expensive. ratz.

Isabella, your energy is amazing!  Good for you on the de-stuffing!  I've been doing some, but not near so much! Your "D"H manages to keep tweaking things, even at a distance....

Alyson - your DDs sound amazing. You should be proud.

My Memorial Day was that my nephew who's in service came home from Afghanistan, safe and sound and although he's lost weight, he has all his appendages.  His unit disarmed more IEDs than any other (that was their job, he was the corpsman/medic). We think of the lives they saved and We are grateful he came home in one piece.

Today I go to ortho-doc to (I hope) find out what this lump on my upper arm is. Hoping for a cyst or something relatively easy. PCP said he didn't think it was a tumor and I'm holding on to that thought.

QCA, ((hugs)) - wedding planning can be difficult in the best of circumstances. We eloped and got married on the ocean cliffs of Northern Calif. at sunset.

    Have a good week, all!

BarbA - don't know if I am sorry to hear what is up with the job or not.  I know you have been struggling with all the demands and stress for a long time and that it is affecting you health.  I know you need the insurance so I hope something comes up soon for you that will allow you to have some time for yourself without all the stress.

Isabella - WOW you have been so busy!  Wish I had half your energy even for a day!  You need to take care of yourself and stop over doing it.

Kathy - no need to panic about the wedding.  Everything will work out just fine as long as there is a bride, groom and minister nothing else matters that much in the grand scheme of things.  Love you.

I am doing a little better now that I am getting some sleep.  The PCP prescribed Ambien for me and it knocks my out for 8-9 hours.  I feel better than I did when I was only managing to get 3-4 hours.  PCP was surprised the neuro did not prescribe the Ambien.  Oh well, I am doing better and get my next bone treatment on the 5th.  Until then I am sew up a storm.

elissimo: glad your'e still enjoying your sewing, and sleeping!

Lost crrek: congrats your young man is home!!!!thank him for me for his service.. so many young men over there, for so long, in so much danger.. its so good to hear when one "of ours" (yours) is home safe and sound.. may they ALL be, and soon...  Ginger: DH's do those things all the time. we have a saying sitting on a dime, hoping for a dolllar. my ex was like that. we also had 2 acres, and the 1st thing i did when we divorced, was buy a yazoo riding mower. my son had a job using it all over the neighborhood.. it REALLY paid for itself!!!3jays

Hello Ladies,  I know I am way behind on this thread, but have been busy.  Am happy to say I survived the 90th birthday party as well as my sister's visit.  Cousins went back last Sunday and my sister and boyfriend left yesterday so all is once again quiet on the home front.

I am glad you are getting some sleep, AmyJo.  I tried Ambien once, got it confused with my warfarin and wrecked the car.    Isabella, always enjoy hearing your doings.....is the back surgery scheduled any time soon?  LostCreek, Glad to hear your nephew is home safe and sound.  Ginger, I am with you on the comfortable shoes although I will say sometimes I look at the heels the fashionable women wear with envy, but figure at this stage the last thing I need is a sprained ankle.  Kathy, I am sure the wedding will be lovely.  Ossa, I am not sure, but I think maybe the EF improves once the treatment that has caused it is over.....know they check that on me because of the adriamycin.  3jays and Barb, I will be seeing both of you this month.   Everyone else, hope you are having a good weekend .   One of these days I hope to get back to posting on a more regular basis....miss everyone.     Marybe

Well hey, Marybe!  So good to see you here.  I'm glad the birthday party went well and that you survived everything, including your sister's visit!

Lost Creek, many times DH and I have said "Why don't you elope?"  but they don't want to.  DH and I eloped too, but everyone knew about it.  This is a 2nd marriage for both of them, although DD's first marriage was annulled because the groom turned out to be gay, if you can believe that!  We can laugh about it now, but at the time it was just dreadful.  Also, I'm so thankful your nephew is home, and safe. I can imagine what a relief that is.

Elisimo, you're right, all we need is a bride, a groom, and a minister and we've got all three!  They finished their pre-marital counseling with our minister last week with flying colors, so they're good to go.  I'm so glad your sleeping has gotten better.  I'm sure that makes everything better all-around.  Love you too.

3jays and Barb, I'm so excited for you two getting a visit from Marybe.

Gotta take the dog out, so hugs to all of you.

Just popping in to say hi to all. We are in Wellington and about to head north. Wonderful wedding last weekend - nephew's. Brought brother back down here and had a couple of days. Today we have dreadful weather which I hope will improve as we go north. Will get home on Sunday after visiting friends.

DS and GF announced engagement over the weekend so we are delighted. I think that DS really surprised her, they both sounded so happy. They were in the Loire Valley for the weekend. She is a Kiwi girl and they will be home later in the year and plan to settle here.

Wish I could get to meet up with some of you but can't see us getting to the US next year, well maybe to Indiana to visit friends but do hope to travel through Cananda. Still trying to sort out this years holiday as DH keeps putting it off.

DH has just arrived so had better go.

Marybe, so glad to see you posting again.  Glad everything turned our for all your goings on.  Hope you have a great visit with Barb and 3jays.  Wish I could be there too.

I am doing so much better now that I am getting the rest I need.  Glad that is what the problem was since it was an easy fix once they figured it out.  I am so busy with my sewing that I don't have time for much else.  Started a Quilting group that meets once a month to make quilts for children in the hospital.

After months of asking DH finally took me to the beach for a day and I had such a relaxing time and enjoyed watching the waves come cresting into the shore.  There were a lot of people there and the sun was hot, but we managed to find a very cool shaded place under the peir and I was covered from head to toe when we went for a walk along the beach.  I hate having to stay out of the sun, but it is better to get to go with those restrictions than not go at all.  We thought DH had lost his wedding ring, but there was a guy there close to us that used his metal detector and found it in the sand not far from where we started our walk.  I found 2 really pretty pieced of sea glass that I brought home for my small collection of treasures from our rare adventures together.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. HUGS to all.

Elisimo that sounds like such a nice day!   Sea glass is really pretty.

I am glad DH found his ring. I lost mine down the drain at a bed and breakfast once. It wasn't pretty but I got it back thanks to a hard working handyman.

I'm back!!   I had a really good time and hope didn't wear 3jays out since I know she isn't used to going as much as we did.  I think it worked out fine.....when she slept in, I sat out front in the sun and read my book.  Although the extra dose of sun I got at Butterfly World did me in....I had no idea I was going to get so much sun there and up until then had been faithfully using the sunscreen so now all those little bumps are back on my chest where I got them earlier this year from overdoing it in the sun.....ah well, such is life.   This pics makes it look a lot worse than it really was....there was red plastic or glass or something over the door area where we went to the indoor flea mkt. and it made me look like I had 3rd degree burns.

This is at the Cuban restaurant we went to which was my lst experience with Cuban food. I was so full I could only eat one bite of the flan that the waiter brought us 3 spoons for so we could share.  After dinner that night we went to an Irish bar on the way home because there was a duo doing a Beatles tribute and they knew I liked the Beatles.

Butterfly world  certainly lived up to its reputation....not only were there beautiful butterflies, but plants and birds as well.  3jays and DH fed the birds, but I stayed out of there since I like to look, but don't want them getting too close.  They sold plants there so 3jays DH bought her one for their front....that's it in the pic with her and the two dogs. visittoCheriesinFloridaJune2012077.jpg image by marybebr

We walked the boardwalk at Hollywood Beach and had dinner there at a Turkish restaurant and then went to listen to an oldies group playing at the outdoor stage on the beach.

We ate out a LOT....twice at their favorite burger place, although I opted for fish both times since I knew Florida would have good fish.   The only night we ate in was when we went to the DS's house for dinner so I could meet the grandchildren and then we had my stromboli.

Everyone including the dogs took me to the airport and I am home now safe and sound, fatter and browner and looking forward to my next trip to Florida in a few weeks when I will be visiting BarbA.   Thank you for a wonderful time, 3jays and DH.

The photos are great, Marybe!  Looks like you gals had a great time, too.   Thanks for sharing.  Oh, glad your sunburn wasn't as bad as it looked in the picture.

I'm beat.  DD, DH, and DD's friend and I went to the wedding site today and worked ourselves half to death, and will do the same tomorrow.  Tomorrow we have to cover the tables, etc, hang the petunias after we deadhead them and put on the bows, put all table decorations in place, and too many other things to mention.  Actually we're trying to turn a sow's ear into a silk purse--since the wedding's in a picnic area outside the little church.   They wanted an outdoor wedding, though, and I know it'll be beautiful when we get it finished.  Rehearsal dinner tomorrow night.  Weather forecast couldn't be better--no rain and high of 80F on Saturday!

Kathy, It sounds like a great idea. My son was married outside and it was so pleasant. I agree with Isabella, please pace yourself. You want to be able to enjoy the big day. Really good luck on the weather. We wouldn't dream of planning an outside wedding in Seattle until after July 4. Might freeze to death or stand in pouring rain.

Thanks Isabella and Wren! Today we got the hanging baskets hung, but didn't get to cover the tables because it was very windy.  We'll do that tomorrow morning. Had a beautiful rehearsal and dinner tonight, and hope tomorrow is less gusty!  But, no matter what happens, it'll be perfect.  Just seeing DD this happy is a beautiful feeling to me!  I'm off to bed now, so night, everybody!

It's over and DD is married!  (Even if the parents of the bride are half-dead.  Just sort of sitting and staring.)  The MOB didn't have time to take many photos, but DD's friend took tons and is to send me a CD as soon as it's ready, so I'll be asking how to post from that later.  It makes me so happy to see DD so happy!!  They're off to Savannah for their honeymoon, and I think the MOB is going to bed.  Thanks everybody for all the good wishes---they worked!

    Love to all,

We still have to unload our trunks (boots, Isabella?) and I have to get my car washed since the bridesmaids "decorated" it, but we were calming down just fine until DS and DDIL arrived this afternoon.  DGS is going to be a big brother, and we're going to be grandparents again, around January 1!  What super news!

    Hugs to all,

Kathy, we say 'boot' as well. Not sure why because looking at vintage cars they literally have a 'trunk' on the back. Wedding photos are great.

3jays...never mind the 'busy busy' take it easy, easy ! Don't go do too much, it's just not worth it, half an hours effort and  the rest of the day paying for it with pain !

We have had 2 days running without rain, and have actually got some sunshine, at last. I did my hanging baskets about 3 weeks ago, and haven't needed to go outside and water once, unbelievable. They are growing away real fast with the constant drenching with rain they've had. If we get another day with no rain I will have to start the dreaded watering each evening...the rest of the garden I am doing half an hour here, half an hour there....not quite keeping up with it, and weeds are winning me at the moment. If I hadn't got fibromyalgia bad at the moment, it'd be about a fulltime job for me at this time of year.

I took off for town at lunchtime today, at the moment I just go into one big store, a department store, so I don't need to be crawling up and down the streets ! I did a good grocery shop, then hit the clothes department. Ended up with 3 pairs of pastel coloured jeans, or 'jeggins' as they seem to call them now ( all I can see are drainpipe jeans, but, 'jeggins' they are now !!) also bought a pair of wide legged linen trousers, and 2 linen tops. Now I get to spend an afternoon lopping about 5" off the bottoms of all the trousers, and shortening one of the tops.

I have a Drs appointment tomorrow, I've had to wait 12 days for this, the guideline the Drs are supposed to work to, for an appointment with your GP is 48 hours ! Been trying some different pain killers, which, again, haven't worked....I ran out 5 days ago anyway, so am back on anything I can get my hands on now. I just don't think she believes me when I say that tablet after tablet do NOT work for me. Even the morphine patches didn't touch this fibro pain....I must have a rhino's constitution !

Quiet w/end...usual Saturday morning mothers meeting at my house, 1 GD trimmed my hair for me. I took her a skirt up! fair exchange. 1 GS washed my car for me...in exchange for cash, which he always likes ! We had sausages and fried eggs for lunch, then they were all gone, and it was lovely and quiet again.I love to see them all, but love it more when they go and leave me to myself.

Sunday I just stayed in my PJs all the day...doors locked, of course...no-one should have to look at me in my PJs , and my hair not done !!  Lots of sewing jobs caught up with, and lots of dogs' blankets changed, and washed. The washer and dryer were rattling away from when I got up, to when I went back to bed ! The dogs absolutely love clean blankets, they have to go and roll on them, and stretch out smelling the nice clean smell. I love to watch them enjoying this. I have 2 girls starting working for me tomorrow for 6 weeks, in the kennels, mainly cutting knots out of the dogs coats....thay have got beyond grooming now. I always used to keep my dogs coats in fantastic condition, now they are becoming a disgrace...I haven't the energy to even half groom 1 of them at one go, and I have about 40ish to go at. My fingers won't let me use the scissors for longer than about 5 mins, and I can't bend over the dogs for more than 2 minutes !! Old crock...that's what I have become !

I put an ad. in the local shop, and the 'phone just never stopped, must have been about a hundred kids wanting a holiday job. I had to go quickly back to the shop and take my ad. out 2 days after I put in in.  I set 2 girls on, but will have to try and keep them on separate jobs, or they'll start fooling around, as they always do !

Off for my shower and a nice warm bed, still haven't turned my electric blanket off yet, it's so cold on a night.

It's the longest day tomorrow, and summer hasn't really got started yet ! Don't know even if we'll get a summer this year !

    Isabella.
