What are you doing for fun??

Soleil, I asked that question a few days ago and apparently you have to upload to somewhere on the web like Flikr, Picasa, FB however having said that I have tried to upload from FB by clicking the little picture icon and copying/pasting the URL but it hasn't worked. Help mods?
-
If you have the picture on facebook, click the picture [while in facebook] so that this is ALL you have in your window. Right click the image and select COPY IMAGE ADDRESS. If you have a one button mouse/trackpad, hold down the control key and your mouse to get the contextual menu.
In the reply box here, select the little image icon [looks like a tree] and paste into the first field "Image URL." If you were successful, the two image dimensions boxes will be filled in automatically. Image description is not required.
Hope this helps,
*susan*

I just bumped a post by nowheregirl about posting pics. All my pics are on FB so I go there and get the URL for posting.
Hope this helps. -
My elderly mother lives 100 miles from me and is alone fighting emphyzema. She rarely goes out and is very isolated. I try to see her at least twice a month and stay a few nights, cook for her, fill her freezer with food to easily heat up and we play board games and just spend time together. She is always SO happy to see me every time I come - it just fills my heart with joy. Since she rarely gets out, I found a play to attend (Hairspray) and even though she was afraid to leave the house, (breathing and incontinence problems) she agreed to go and she enjoyed it so much! I'm hoping this outing will give her the courage to attend my brothers' daughters wedding this Sept. in CA. as I'll be with her to help her every step of the way.

End of the year scramble to get everything done at school plus many special activities and report cards ( not fun). But, I spent Saturday and Sunday with dd and SIL and my 2 month old granddaughter. I can't get over how wonderful it is to be a grandmother. They live in a very walkable neighborhood in San Francisco. Pop the baby in her stroller and off we go. Come back and it's time for cuddles, kisses and the joy of watching her change from week to week. Caryn

Am joining my sister, her 40 year old daughter and two grandchildren (3rd and 9th graders) at Chincoteague, VA for a beach week in June. I'll have my special grandson (7 years old) with me and my daughter will hopefully bring her 4 year old niece (and my granddaughter) for the week. I can't handle the 4 year old by myself. She's a wild thing but cute as a button. I love the beach and the sound of the waves and children and seagulls laughing and waves crashing into shore ..... summer is GREAT. My sis is the life of every party and my best friend! We have a ball when we're together.
-
rakulynda - you've got the right idea - it really is all about family. You are a dear to help your mother so much!
-
I just started reading "Fifty Shades of Grey", how's that for fun?? (Major blush)
-
Me too,Runnr! Stole it out of my daughters room.
-
My family and I took the auto train to Florida two weeks ago. Stay five nights at Mystic Dunes Resort (got a great deal). Went to Universal Studio for two days ($60 each day). Then we drove to Georgia, N. Carolina, and Virginia visiting family. It was great!

Hi! I want to say that I am pretty good at enjoying myself, I think that meditation helps me appreciate little things, and that being Stage IV makes it easier to relax about things that would be annoying otherwise. For example, we share a house with my mother in law and I find that I no longer curse her silently for such things as straightening up my kitchen (she has her own), instead I appreciate the neatness. She doesn't know the cancer has recurred and I am sorry she may live to see me pass on which will be very hard on her, I will be leaving behind her son and our three children, the oldest of whom is emotionally disturbed. I find that taking naps, always a favorite activity of mine, continues to be very rewarding. I find it very sweet to be with my children, who don't know the cancer has returned either. I am hopeful that with my single bone met I will last many years still and I don't think about what might eventually get me because if I don't know for a fact what that will be there is no point dwelling on it. I am an old hand at using principles of cognitive therapy such as reframing things so that they don't seem so bad and not attempting to tell the future. I have a pair of parakeets who are amusing to watch as they tear the wall paper off over their perch on the curtain rods bit by bit. I have many guinea pigs whom I occasionally pet. I don't enjoy gardening so I let hubby and M-I-L do it all, but I do enjoy Spring, my favorite season. i love listening to music on my iPod and dancing a little to it, I sing as well. It is four a.m. and I hear the first birds out there. Writing here with a cup of hot decaf, it is all very pleasant. I take warm scented baths. I enjoy applying my makeup (It makes me look soooo much better). I gave up going to weightwatchers because I was tired of it and had long ago stopped counting points, going to meetings I felt like a nonbeliever in church, now I am more relaxed about weight control than before. I enjoy writing and have written an autobiography and various essays on Google Documents that I sometimes invite friends to read online. Fun is an attitude more than anything else, and guided relaxation tapes and meditation for stress reduction help to support a sense of humor so that we can really enjoy the things that are right there, closest to us.

Last night had total meltdown, cried so much I lost most of my remaining eyelashes. Got up today and decided to try harder. I mean try harder to not let camcer invade my persona and my heart.
So, still can't get the pictures on here, but my frogs are doing very well. I did manage to work in the garden, take a walk and drink in the beauty of the world. Thea, you are beautiful. Your writing is so amazing. And Alesta, you are so funny and cool. YOu have to beat this. A spirit like yours should be able to beat anything.
Is 50 Shades of Grey as good as they are saying? I may buy it next week.
Whenever I read this thread, I feel stronger. I hope everyone is doing well this weekend. Tomorrow morning, I'm taking a bicycle ride for as long as I can handle it. Hopefully, I'll make an hour!
-
Hey Soleil, sorry you had a bad day. But I guess meltdowns are good sometimes. Glad ur froggies are doing well.
Just went to bed with Fifty Shades of Grey but not sure I'll read it since its late. If I ever get all the way through it I'll tell u what I think.
Enjoy ur bike ride. Wish I could join you. I'll be with you in spirit. -
((Soleil)). Hope you are feeling better after your bike ride.
Did lots of fun things I didn't plan on doing yesterday. Like having coffee with friends at a new place. Then my DH called and said I should come to an apres-tennis party. The matches lasted longer than expected and I got to see him win 6-4. Then there was the amazing buffet my SIL prepared. Now I'm off to the gym to work off those calories.
-
Hi Soleil, hope you are feeling better and get out to enjoy your bike ride. My plan is to do some yoga this afternoon and finish the 50 Shades series.
About 50 Shades. It is not something I normally read because it's erotica. But, I have to say, like a lot of other people I read the first one just to see what the hoopla was all about. I couldn't put it down! I am now on the third in the trilogy and still can't put it down!! I hope to finish today and start getting some work done around the house.
One of my girlfriends is reading the books too and we are always giggling when we talk about them. There is just something about the way the story unfolds that draws the reader in. I know some people don't like the books, so don't take my word for it.... (Just so you know, I'm 58 and getting a kick out of them)
Have a great day!
-
Nancy that is totally awesome!
Yesterday I put in two more flower beds and extended one. Tonight I need to make another small one. I love getting dirt under my nails! -
You guys....I have to 50 Shades now, no going back on this. I have to get these books. Sound like fun!
I made my bike ride, 40 MINUTES! Made it down to the lake, aroung so many charming side streets, it was good, made the entire difference in my day. Heidi Hill , you are an inspiration! I used exercise every day, I was nuts. But I liked it. Now I have to push myself to do tiniest thing. It is worth it. My sister was in hospice at a very excellent hospital. There were treadmills in the lobby. Many of the patients were working out on the treadmills; laughing and joking. I told the nurse, I think my sister is one the wrong floor. She told me no, we believe that every day counts. I know that, I forget sometimes, but I do know it. Thank you Heidi Hill and everyone on this post for reminding me of that.
So, I got energy from the bike ride, came home, painted a bunch of yard furniture. While painting, I decided to put in a turtle pond next. Reading about turtle ponds is alot more fun than reading about cancer, so I'm spending tonight reading about turtle ponds. I feel happy! Summer Sundays are so perfect.

I don't know if this is considered fun or not but it's interesting to me.
I am making scrapbooks for my kids - there are 5 so it will take a while, and a "family" book, so total of 6.
The other thing I am doing is helping to log the 1940 census from the handwritten images into a database for those of you who are Geneology nuts. It's kinda fun and interesting to see all the old timey names, and how many kids people had, and interesting to see how many of the Kids lived at home into their 20's. If any one wants any info on this, let me know, I will be glad to share.

It's a public holiday here today (all the diamond jubilee stuff). The torrential rain has stopped. The sun is out. I'm lying in the hammock in the garden with a fluffy blanket, watching two red kite birds circling next doors garden looking for food. If I can arsed to move, I'll go buy us a new BBQ for a cook out this evening. Otherwise it'll be take out. Watched Fargo again last night, one of my fave movies. Do folk really talk like that out there lol!
-
Happy Diamond Jubilee and happy grilling, Alesta! I was watching it on CNN.
Soleil, hope the turtle pond brings you good luck! Turtles and ponds are good feng shui. Double luck!
-
Aleta,
I love the movie Fargo too, I live in MInnesota and yes some of the older generation still speak with an accent not quite as heavy in the movie!!
I also am an avid reader, about 5 books a week, I walk my dog and spend time with my daughters, yesterday my significant other and I had lunch in the park, it was so relaxing.
We are going to rent a cabin in August, so looking forward to that. I have a lot of wishes, but finances are so tight....:(

We have a camp on Lake St. Catherine in Vermont so will be spending
a lot of time there with my family. Will be throwing a huge 4th of July
party my husband missed his calling he should of been a party planner.
Just want to enjoy every day I have with my almost 16 year old daughters.
-
I love Fargo too. If I want a candy floss escapist movie then Get him to the Greek is awesome. I just adore Russell Brand. I saw him live at Warwick Arts Centre and laughed like a drain all the way through.
I'm off to the cricket on Friday. 2nd day of the test, England v W.Indies. Forecast rain 8-(. I shall pack my waterproof. Ah, good old English summers lol
X Sarah -
Love 'Foarg' too. I listen to 'The News Quiz' on BBC Radio 4 via internet. Also wath 'Have I Got News for You' on BBC 1, Friday evenings.
Also, I play with our dogs. Only meet friends with a well-developed sense of humour & who can deal with my health situation.

I spent all day Saturday helping my kids fundraise for the Komen 3-day at the WXTU Anniversary Show (local country station). Then on Sunday I went to Mercer lake in NJ (shoulda thought to call you Karen) to cheer my team on to a WIN at the Paddle for Pink Dragon Boat Races. My team was awesome and I can't wait to be ready to compete with them in Peekskill in August (they are a Breast Cancer Survivor team). They insisted I get in the boat for the memorial ceremony - and several of the existing members said they wanted to give up their seat for me if needed. I was really touched.
Did I mention they took the GOLD?
Going to meet k-Lo on Friday! Then have to go to something for DH on Sat (he does so much for me I gave in to one thing for him).
Busy, busy -
I still LOVE this thread!! So neat to hear what everyone is doing!!
Nancy: You are too cute in your baseball uniform!!
Alesta: I love that movie -- and yes, some of them DO talk like that there!! You betcha! ;-) A friend of mine is across the Pond right now helping celebrate with the Queen - the trip was her birthday present! Nice huh?!
We took our trip to the beach about 2 weeks ago, and it was so wonderful. The weather was perfect and the water was so clear it reminded me of the Carribean! (We were in FL.) A whole week of mostly doing nothing but lying on the beach was just what I needed. We did go parasailing one day though -- that was lots of fun!
On Sunday, a friend and I went to the Chesney/McGraw concert! It was incredible!! "Feeling" the beat from the speakers made me feel so very alive!!! I didn't want the night to end!
I need to come up with something else fun to do now! I'm going to go back and read some of the posts I've missed for some inspiration!!
-
Some old, dear friends of ours are visiting Israel now so we've been able to spend some time with them.
That's one of my favorite things!
Leah
-
Lynn, I"m so jealous of you....the concert. Bet it was awsome! Only thing better would be Keith Urban.
-
Heading to the beach on Saturday with the family--super excited!! Got myself a new beach chair that is really comfortable; doesn't irritate my spine, which is full of mets. Bought some books...now am ready to completely RELAX and forget about the "beast". Woo-hoo!
Lynn, concert sounds great!
Soleil, my daughter just graduated from college in Nashville. She heard Keith Urban play at the Ryman and at Bridgestone Arena. She met several country music stars while there--Amy Grant, Vince Gill, Martina McBride, Josh Gracin. She also got a half second of fame as an extra in a Josh Groban video "Hidden Away." One of her friends met Keith Urban at "Sweet CeCe's", the frozen yogurt place, in Nashville. Said he was super nice.
-
Just the name Keith Urban makes my heart swell. He was at Country Thunder here a few years back. Touched one of my employees hands. She wouldn't wash her hand for a week. Kept saying ,"Keith Urban touched my hand" He's just adorable, jusmps off the stage, hugs people, high 5s them, jumps back on and plays. Never seen anyone like him...well, young Rod Stewart was like that in the 70s. If I met Keith Urban at the sweet CCs, i would faint! Like they used to in the Beatle days. Oh my gosh. My bratty daughter is a big shot ad ex. She filmed a commercial of Leanne Rymes when she played lead for Keith. My daughter said she couldn't get me a ticket. I was so mad at her. She said it would be too much stress! But she bought me tickets for him at Summerfest to make up for that. She said Keith Urban had the white ist teeth she had ever seen, he smiled alot and shook her hand....BRAT!
You have fun at the beach , it sounds just beautiful! See if you can post a picture. Thank you for your post. I've just spent 5 minutes thinking of Keith Urban instead of C, very good. I'm happy now! Where is your daughter in the Josh Groban video? I"d like to see if I can find her
